It’s a typical Snoopy card: cheerful message, bright colors, though a little yellow and faded now. Although I’ve received fancier, more expensive cards over the years, this is the only one I’ve __36__ . One summer, it spoke volumes to me.

I received it __37__ the first June I face as a widow to raise two teenager daughter alone. In all the emotional confusion of this sudden single __38__ , I even had difficulty in the simplest housework: leaky taps, oil changes, even barbecues. Those had always been my husband’s __39__ . I was embarrassed every time I __40__ my thumb with a hammer. My uncertain attempts only __41__ the fear inside me: How could I be both a father and mother to my girls? Clearly, I __42__ the tools and skills.

That morning, my girls pushed me into the living room to see something. (I prayed it wasn’t __43__ repair job.) The ‘something’ turned out to be an __44__ and several wrapped things on the carpet. My __45__ must have been plain as I stared from the colorful packages to my daughters’ __46__ faces.

‘But why?’ I asked.

‘Happy Father’s Day!’ they shouted together.

‘Moms don’t get presents on Father’s Day,’ I said.

36. …this is the only one I’ve__36__ .

37. I received it __37__ the first June I faced as a widow to raise two teenager daughter alone.

跟the first June搭配。 One summer, it spoke volumes to me. ‘ONE SUMMER’!

前面一句话出现了一个单词widow(看成window的同学恕我无回天之力),对照答案发现有两

39. had always been my husband’s __39__ , 这题B,C选项不靠谱,A professions不是不可以这么说,只不过?

40. I was embarrassed every time I __40__ my thumb with a hammer.

41. My uncertain attempts only __41__ the fear inside me…

42. Clearly, I __42__ the tools and skills. tool不就是说的榔头么,skill不就是说砸手么,综上所述,符合逻辑的选项应该是缺乏对工具的认识和使用的技巧。

43. I prayed it wasn’t __43__ repair job.

44.The‘something’turned out to be an__44__ and several wrapped things …

I pulled it from the envelope.

45. /46. My __45__ must have been plain as I stared from the colorful packages to my daughter’s __46__ faces.

47. As I __47__ the packages, I discovered a small barbecue grill and all the necessary __48__ including a green kitchen glove.

49. ‘You forgot to open the __49__ ,’前面已经打开了几样包好的礼物了,别忘了还剩下一个信封。

I pulled it from the envelope.

50. why shouldn’t you be __50__ on Father’s Day?

Moms don’t get presents on Father’s Day.

故答案:A。

51. As I fought back tears, I realized they were __51__.

52. T he girls __52__ wanted a parent they could count on to be there…

答案:A,only。

53. __53__ repeatedly the tasks of basic care and love.

54. There girls are grown now, __54__ they still send me …

已经有but了,所以正解:B,and。

55. require and special __55__ at all—just a willing worker.
