No one could say they were wrong because they don’t try to make it wok.

After loving each other for unbelievable 115 years, tow giant turtles at an Austrian zoo have gone their separate ways --- even refusing to share the same room. The falling out, which has upset the zoo workers, marks the end of the world’s oldest animals’ marriage. “We get the feeling they can’t stand the sight of each other any more,”Zoo manager Helga Happ told The Austrian Times.

Bibi and Poldi have happily stayed together for 36 years after they moved together from Basel zoo in Switzerland to Austrian zoo in Klagenfurt. Both 115 years old, the pair grew up together and eventually became an item(恋爱).

“But for no reason that anyone can discover they seem to have fallen out, they just can’t stand each other,”added Happ. It seems that it was Bibi, the wife, who started the breakup. According to the paper, workers at the zoo realized all was not well when Bibi bit off a big piece of Poldi’s shell. She kept fighting against her partner until he was moved to a different room.

The zoo even turned to animal experts but to no avail(无济于事). The experts did everything they could, trying to make them happy and love each other again. None has worked.

Happ told the paper that it is “very strange”for animals who are a pair to fall apart after so long. But he couple seems to have made up their minds to end their long relationship.

Keeping the animals apart is very important now because --- weighing over 100kg each --- if they wanted they could kill the other. Though giant turtles have no teeth, they can still cause serious damage.

Garbage sorting has become a hot issue around China, especially after Shanghai began carrying out a regulation on July 1. Beijing, as a forerunner in environmental protection, has thus been expected to follow suit. The capital of the country has long been campaigning for sorting and recycling household waste, as part of its environmental drive for sustainable growth, local media reported. The current regulation gives garbage sorting responsibilities to government departments, property management groups and other organizations. It also gives rules for companies, outlining how they're responsible for waste collection, transportation and treatment. Only individuals are not subject to responsibilities. The long-awaited revision will soon change the situation, "Taking out the trash without sorting it properly will be illegal," said Sun Xinjun, director of the Beijing Commission of Urban Management. In Shanghai, violators are now fined up to 200 yuan ($30)for trash-sorting violations. The maximum fine in Beijing will not be less than that, he said. The Beijing city government first set out to promote garbage sorting in 2009. Authorities have since called on citizens to sort their household waste into four types-recyclable waste, kitchen trash, dangerous waste and others-and leave it in a corresponding dustbin or trash can. Blue-colored dustbins signify items within are recyclable, green represents kitchen trash, red corresponds to dangerous materials and grey to other waste. To promote the awareness of garbage sorting and expand the base of participants, authorities have employed workers to help residents on the spot. With intelligent devices, those who throw in recyclable waste at given sites will be rewarded with bonus points, which can be used to buy daily goods. At some communities, there are no color-coded dustbins. Instead, a scheduled garbage collection service is offered to help improve the environment. In other communities, workers offer a door-to-door service to collect recyclables or kitchen waste. Beijing Environmental Sanitation Engineering Group has been promoting new garbage sorting facilities such as recycling cabinets and smart kitchen waste trash cans since 2016, Xinhua News Agency reported. Nearly 26,000 metric tons of household waste is generated across Beijing on a daily basis and 29 terminal garbage disposal facilities are working at full capacity. Nearly 9.3 million tons of household waste was processed in the city last year. (1)According to the passage, which dustbins should some used coke cans be thrown into? A. Grey-colored dustbins. B. Red-colored dustbins. C. Green-colored dustbins. D. Blue-colored dustbins. (2)We can learn from the passage that ________. A. new technology has been applied to help deal with garbage B. Beijing carried out a more severe rule on garbage sorting than Shanghai C. the change of the current regulation has aroused objection among citizens D. the amount of household waste in Beijing is far from something disturbing (3)What is the best title for the text?

A new scientific survey has found that the glaciers of the Arctic are the world’s biggest contributors to rising seas, shedding ice at an accelerating rate that now adds well over a millimeter to the level of the ocean every year. That is considerably more ice melt than Antarctica is contributing, even though the Antarctic contains far more ice. Still, driven by glacier clusters in Alaska, Canada and Russia and the vast ice sheet of Greenland, the fast-warming Arctic is outstrip ping the entire ice continent to the south---for now. However, the biggest problem is that both ice regions appear to be accelerating their losses simultaneously-suggesting that we could be in for an even faster rate of sea-level rise in future decades. Seas are rising by about three millimeters each year, according to NASA. That’s mainly driven by the Arctic contribution, the Antarctic and a third major factor- that ocean water naturally expands as it warns. For Arctic ice loss, "the rate has tripled since 1986, " said Jason Box, first author of the new study and a scientist at the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland. "So it clearly shows an acceleration of the sea-level contribution.” “Antarctica will probably take over at some point in the future, but during the past 47 years of this study, it's not controversial that the arctic is the largest contribution of land ice to sea-level rise. ” he said. Scientists in the United States, Chile, Canada, Norway and the Netherlands contributed to the work, published in Environmental Research Letters. The Arctic is also losing floating sea ice at a rapid pace, but that loss does not contribute substantially to rising seas( though it has many other consequences). Sea ice losses closely match what is happening on land, which makes sense because both phenomena are being driven by the fast warming of the atmosphere in the Arctic, which has heated up at a rate much faster than seen in lower latitudes. Warming seas are also driving some of the ice loss. The research was performed by merging a highly reliable gravity-based measurement of Arctic mass loss from NASA’s Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment(GRACE) satellites with older direct ice measurements, taken from the field, going back to 1971. The total Arctic loss at present is 447 billion tons of ice per year- which Box calculated is about 14,000 tons of water per second. That's for the period between 2005 and 2015. Between 1986 and 2005, the loss is calculated at around 5,000 tons per second--therefore, the rate has almost tripled. Separate research has recently found that the Antarctic's loss rate has also tripled in just a decade, reaching 219 billion tons per year from 2012 to 2017. Assuming these numbers are correct and summing them together, the worlds polar regions are losing about 666 billion tons of ice to the ocean each year-amounting to a little bit less than two millimeters of sea-level rise annually. 1. What's the main immediate cause of the sea level rising according to the article ? A. Glaciers' melting of the Arctic B. Glaciers' melting of Antarctica C. Global warming and carbon emission D. Sea ice losses in the polar regions 2. Which is NOT the main factor of sea level rising by about three millimeters each year ? A. The Arctic ice melting. B. The Antarctic ice melting C. Floating sea ice melting D. Ocean water itself when warming up 3. Which of the following statements is WRONG according to the passage? A. Antarctic contains far more ice but has less ice melt than Arctic
