In the past, men and women played the different roles in both the workplace and the home. However, with the development of our modern society, their roles are transforming. In my essay, I would like to give some reasons to explain why this happens.

For one thing, people’s attitudes towards women are changing. In old days, women held inferior positions than men, which is a common phenomenon in society. But after several feminist movements which aimed at protecting women’s equal rights, people began to realize that women should have the same rights as the men. Since then, the status of women has been gradually improving.

For another, the abilities of women have been greatly changed. In most fields, women are able to complete the tasks such as strategic decision-making as well as men. Nowadays, women have the same right to education which was not available in the past. Due to the rapid development of science and technology, people can gain knowledge more easily. If women make full use of these resources, they can certainly do it well and sometimes even do better than men.

For these reasons, the relationships between men and women can also be affected. Under the influence of traditional concepts, people usually hold the opinion that women should stay at home to take care of their children and men should pursue careers and make money for their families. However, in modern society, women who aspire to succeed in career can work as hard as men and support their families. On the contrary, men can sometimes stay at home to look after their children without women sacrificing their careers.

To sum up, the roles of men and women are transforming. Nowadays, women have equal rights and opportunities with men, which shows the progress of the society. With the improvement o f women’s status, our world will become more beautiful.
