Topic1

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A job with more vacation time is better than a job with high salary but less vacation time.

Rewritten Sample Writing

The issue whether people should choose a job with a high salary or more vacation time is a topic that is often discussed and there are differing opinions about this issue. Some prefer to have a high salary, because they could buy some things that they like most, while others would choose a job with more vacation time for enjoying themselves. In my view, I prefer to have a job with more vacation time instead of a high salary for several reasons.

Admittedly, earning money is one of the aims of our work. No one could deny the fact that money could not only maintain our daily lives but also could help us to achieve some of our personal goals, such as buying a car, living in a big house or helping those who live in poverty or starvation. Making money will enable us to improve our living environment and quality, and therefore getting a job with a high salary, is significant to us.

However, others go into rapture at mere notion of getting money, however having a job with a high salary, is less useful than many people believe. People, who are addicted to a high income, have to spend more time working or staying in the office, and as a result, it is impossible for them to devote enough time and energy in communicating with family members. Moreover, it is difficult to develop and cultivate their children’s character and interpersonal skills and they may become more solitary and even suffer from certain emotional or psychological problems. Therefore, it is undesirable to hanker for a high salary instead of staying with family members.

Furthermore, the majority of people believe that having more vacation time will provide them additional opportunities to broaden their horizons, which may put them in a favorable position prove their situation. As we know, traveling can allow us to actually meet different cultures, which we could not get from textbooks or classrooms. As an architect, although he could learn about masterpieces

from the internet and magazines, the feeling of touch of the actual buildings, such as the Sydney Opera house, is totally different, We could find abundant information about the plans, sections and elevations, but we could not recognize the size, the space or the material. Having vacation time and traveling could provide us with an opportunity to realize the dream and therefore almost all of us benefit from vacation time.

Therefore, I am firmly convinced that having a job with more vacation time, will bring about a profound impact on families, the person himself and even the society as whole.

Topic2

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should not pay to the public transportation.

Rewritten Sample Essay

The answers vary when people are asked whether they should pay for public transportation. In spite of this very issue having been discussed for decades, people, all around the world, hold that it’s better for people not to be obligated to pay for public transportation. It is my personal view that there is no clear or definite answer to this complex question.

First and foremost, our government might not have sufficient taxes to pay for public transportation for all inhabitants. It is well known that China is still a developing country, unlike the U.S.A . and the U.K., are there are many fields far needier for money than a free public transportation project.

Education is a typical example of this situation. The government plans to invest about 3% of all tax income on education this year, which is much less than the educational allocation of all the developed countries. We are all aware that education is one of the most essential basics of a country’s development, and even though the government would like to make public transportation free, we should call for them to invest this money into education, especially basic education.

In addition, the current cost of public transportation is very low and almost everyone can afford

this, as the elderly and disabled are able to be offered a much lower price.

In Hangzhou, the highest price for taking a bus is 4 yuan person, which even a beggar can afford. On the other hand, more and more people have cars the price of which is decreasing rapidly People, who hate the noise and fumes in buses and taxis, would prefer to drive themselves to the places they want to go. Thus, more and more people buy cars today for their convenience and abandon public transportation. In this situation, it seems that whether the public transportation is free, does not matter much.

Last but also importantly, if public transportation was free, we could take buses, taxis, trains and even planes. What a wonderful situation! We can come and go much easier than before, without having to pay for this service. At the same time, although more and more people can afford a car, they may not be able to afford the fees and costs that come along with the car, such as the price of gasoline that is increasing rapidly and therefore want to go to work by bus or some other public transportation. Not only can this reduce the cost, but also protect the environment as personal vehicles emit large amounts of harmful gases.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that it is beneficial for both the environment and the population if public transportation is free. However, the government does not have the capacity to fund this totally at present, so we should pay for it temporarily, believing we will not need to pay for it one day, as our country evolves.

Topic3

Do you agree or disagree the following statement? Successful people take new things and take risks rather than the thing that they've done well

Rewritten Sample Writing

The world today is filled with competition in all areas. Some people who want to be successful, do what they are good at, while others may think they can try something new or take risks to achieve success. Personally, I think those who have the latter opinion have more chances to be successful.

Needless to say, people will face no or few competitors when they do things in new fields, which means that they can occupy the whole market once consumers can accept their products. Bill Gate's success is a good example. He became one of the most successful persons in the world, by developing the products for global customers.

On the other hand, people cannot easily become successful if they continue doing the things that have been done well by themselves and others. One important reason is that there must be a number of competitors in these areas, and the other is that the benefits of older products are lower compared with new and innovative ones.

Meanwhile, as the first person entering in one certain area, he can decide many things about the product, such as the price, types, functions and policies.

As a result, subsequent competitors have to follow these things that he has decided earlier. Microsoft is again a helpful example here. After Microsoft's products came into the market, its competitors had to research their products and produce similar ones. To be the first in one area means more opportunities to be successful, although at the same time, it means more risks.

From these types of success, we can conclude that to produce new products and take risks are good ways for people to be successful. New things mean more opportunities and fewer competitors, so it is indeed a good choice to try something new if people want to gain achievement in their lives.

Attention1. I was able to raise my TOEFL score by studying hard and I read

lots of books.

Many companies began using computers mouth.

She are a good friend of mine that I has known for a long time.

We heated the soup in the microwave for too long and the shape of the container changed.

5.不要使用缩写在正式的写作中不要使用缩写形式(can"t,don"t,it"s,we"ll,they"ve等等) ,而应当使用单词的完整形式(cannot,do not,it is,we will,they have等等)。

Since I want to go to a good school, therefore I am trying to raise my test scores.

Many students have a hard time passing all the tests to get into college. For example, my friend in high school.

8.不要使用get When I got home, I got tired, so I got a book and got into bed.

I would like to study in America because all modern technology originated there. Computers are very helpful and advantageable.

I would like to discuss about something important that you mentioned about to me during yesterday. We went to downtown yesterday to buy a watch. When I first came to the US,I did not have a lot of friends in here. In class, my classmate never mentioned about her husband. 这种情况常见于downtown, home, there, here等词。

There are many reasons to buy a car, preferably a nice car.

It is okay for children to fail sometimes.

I love animals. And I like to help them. Because they are helpless. So I want to become a vet.

Personally,I believe what the newspaper prints.

Many year ago, dinosaur roamed the Earths. 单数可数名词单数可数名词不能单独使用,应该将其变为复数形式或者加上限定词(a,the,my, his, her, Gary"s, no, any, 1, 3, 50, most,等等)。

I want to buy something for my mother that she will like it. There was a terrible accident happen yesterday.

I was kind of mad at the guy who vociferated angry words at me. I have heard many wonderful things about such cosmopolitan cities as Paris, London, Tokyo, and Hong Kong and I would love to visit these cities to check them out.

If people do not speak the same language, it has a greater chance of miscommunication. I intend to complete my studies in the United States because they have good programs there.

We should use our resources on Earth because the Earth is getting worse.

Yesterday I will go to the store because tomorrow I needed some food.

I was late getting home because I lost my way.

I want to creation a great web site so that I can becoming wealth.

Even I don‘t speak Spanish, I was able to find a bathroom in the department store.

I gained a lot of pounds during vacation.

As the economy and technology develop at an incredible speed in today’s society, there are an increasing number of people believing that the most important problems affecting our society today could be solved within our lifetime. In my view, however, this is out of the question and the three most significant problems affecting the society, namely war, environmental destruction and disease, will still influence us and may not be entirely resolved forever. War is a problem afflicting humans since they took into being in the first place. Wars take place when different countries have conflicting benefits, which is unlikely to be eliminated as long as the boundaries between countries still exist. For instance, in the Middle East where water is extremely scarce, many countries are in conflict in contention for water resources. Since every country acts for the sake of its own benefit, it seems that people in the region are incapable of living together in harmony. Eternal world peace, therefore, is unlikely to be achieved in our lifetime. Environmental destruction emerged not long before but it is becoming increasingly severe and can not be ignored. With the large-scale utilization of fossil fuels and rapid development of industry, huge amounts of pollutants are being produced, contaminating the environment to a large degree. The disposal of these pollutants being a tough task, it is hardly possible that we can completely get rid of them within a short period of time. Furthermore, even if we can come up with optimal methods for dealing with these substances, there remains the problem that these methods may cost too much and obstruct the development of economy. Last but not least, the well-being of people around the world is threatened by a variety of diseases, ranging from AIDS to cancer, the cures for which have not been discovered yet. Diseases set off panics among humans, affect their normal life and leave people badly off with the high medical expenses. There are thousands of scientists devoting themselves to finding cure for diseases, but new types of diseases keep emerging and there is no eliminating all of them. In summary, the problems with the most significance today are going to be passed on to our offspring. To eliminate these problems thoroughly, there is still a long way to go.

TOEFL(Test of English as a Foreign Language)考试由美国普林斯顿教育考试服务处(Educational Testing Service, Princeton, USA)主持,在全世界近180个国家有大约1200个考点。 IELTS(The International English Language Testing System)也是一种英语水平测试,由剑桥大学测试中心(The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate-UCLES)、英国文化委员会(The British Council)和澳大利亚高校国际开发署(IDP Education Australia)共同管理。

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Self-confidence is the most important factor for success in school or at work. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Self-confidence is one very important factor for success, but there are two other equally important factors: knowledge and sensitivity. All three are required for success in any area. One needs to feel one can accomplish a task. If one thinks he or she is incapable of doing something, he or she will not succeed. For example, if you think you are going to do poorly on an exam, you will probably do poorly. It is important to tell yourself that you can do well. If you have confidence in yourself, you will probably do well. Even if you have a great deal of self-confidence, you won’t be able to well on the exam without knowledge. You have to understand your subject very well. With knowledge and self-confidence you have a better chance of success. In areas other than exams, you will need to be sensitive to your surroundings in order to succeed. You will need to know whether to boast about yourself or be modest; you will need to know whether you should take the lead or let others. This is a difficult skill to learn, but an important one for success. To be successful in school or work, you need three qualities: self-confidence, knowledge, and sensitivity. Along, none of these factors will help you succeed. But together, they ensure success.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Young people should try several different jobs before they take a long term career. (A/D) Young people should try different jobs before they take a long-term career.
