11.2.1 The two pie charts shows the proportions of British students at one university in England who were able to speak other languages in addition to English, in 2000 and 2010 respectively. We can learn that in both years, there is a clear variety of students’ constituent speaking different languages in the university. Through further analysis, we can find differences in those constituents between year 2000 and 2010.

In year 2000, there are 20% of the students cannot speak another language rather than English, and students who can speak French, German, Spanish or another language only take the proportions of 15%, 10%, 30% and 15% respectively plus a 15% who can speak two other languages.

When it comes to 2010, students who can speak Spanish only still hold the largest part of the sum, what’s more, this proportion has a slight increase of 5% than 2000. Students who can speak another language and two other languages also rise by 5% than 2000, and German speakers stay the same proportion of 10%. On the contrary, those who can only speak French decreases by 5% and native-only speaker take a sharp drop to 10% compared by 20% in 2000, proving that the university is more international in 2010.

11.1.1

The six pie charts show the percentage of water used for different purposes in six areas of the world. Through analysis of the charts, we can find that the proportion of water used for different purposes is consistent to the development degree of the area.

In those highly developed areas , industrial use of water take a dominant proportion of overall water use, which is 48% for North America and 53% for Europe. The other two indices of water used, domestic and agricultural use are 39% and 13% for North America, 32% and 15% for Europe respectively. There is a slight difference of each proportion due to the population density of the two areas.

South America and South East Asia are less developed which means their ratio of water for industrial use is quite less than North America and Europe, accounting for 10%, 12% of overall use respectively and their agricultural water use take an overwhelming percentage as agricultural product exports are the pillar industries of the two area. Due to a much density of the population, there is a 19% use of domestic water in South America.

The rest areas are least developed, and the industry accounts for least important position, which leads to a 9% and 7% of industrial water use in Africa and Central Asia respectively, and due to poor management, the overwhelming use of water comes to agriculture as 84% and 88% in

Africa and Central Asia, and the domestic indices are 9% and 7% respectively considering the low population density in the two areas.

This skill comes with time and good parenting, and my firm conviction is that punishment does not have much of a role to play in this. Therefore I have to disagree almost entirely with the given statement. To some extent the question depends on the age of the child. To punish a very young child is both wrong and foolish, as an infant will not understand what is happening or why he or she is being punished. Once the age of reason is reached however, a child can be rewarded for good behavior and discouraged from bad. This kind but firm approach will achieve more than harsh punishments, which might entail many negative consequences unintended by the parents. To help a child learn the difference between right and wrong, teachers and parents should firstly provide good role modelling in their own behavior. After that, if sanctions are needed, the punishment should not be of a physical nature, as that merely sends the message that it is acceptable for larger people to hit smaller ones-an outcome which may well result in the child starting to bully others. Nor should the punishment be in any way cruel.
