I. Activity verbs or State verbs 状态或动作动词

状态动词是表示存在于现在或过去的一种相对静止状态的动词, 通常不用于进行时。常见的状态动词可分为四类:表达思维活动的动词,如:know, think, want, understand, realize, admit, agree, mean, believe, prefer, remember;表达情感的动词,如:like, dislike, love, hate, hope,care; 表达拥有和存在的动词,如:be, belong, contain, have, include, own, possess;感官动词,如:feel, hear, look, see, smell, sound, taste。
[注意]
1. 一些状态动词可以用于进行时,但它们的意思将改变。如:
Is anyone minding the baby while you’re out?你外出时有人在照看孩子吗?

2. 含静态动词的句子不能改为被动语态。如:
John has a new bicycle. (不可改为:A new bicycle is had by John.)
