Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is one of the largest cities in the worl d. It is also one of the world’s most modern cities. Twice this century, the city was destroyed and rebuilt. In 1823 a big earthquake hit the city. Thousands of people were killed and

Hans Christian Andersen安徒生
Hans Christian Andersen (1805~1875) was the most famous writer in Denmark (丹麦). His stories have attracted many young readers around the world.
Andersen’s father was a shoemaker. As he was young, Andersen was spoilt by his parents and his grandmother. But when he was 11 years old, his father died and the boy had to leave school.
