本课时的教学内容是人教版七年级下册英语第七单元的第四课时,重点在于引导学生通过对明信片内容的填空,熟练地运用单元知识描述天气、表达一段时间里正在做某事的现在进行时,书写描述旅行生活的明信片,复习表示感觉、表示天气的词汇和动词的现在分词的构成,以及运用小对话进行日常交际的技巧。以阅读填空和明信片书写的任务驱动学生,引导学生复习词汇、短语和语法知识,描述天气、感觉和正在进行的活动,对本单元学习的表示感觉的词语、表示天气的词语和表示活动的动词现在分词进行总结和梳理,同时复习日常交际英语的小对话。因此,教师可以将知识目标定为复习、巩固、运用本单元单词、短语和句型,复习现在分词的构成,书面表达天气和人们的活动和感觉。情感目标为培养学生积极参与学习的品质,学会合理安排假期活动,以增长知识、陶冶情操。

Leading in 【情景1】

1.Warm up by quickly reading the postcards in 2b and review the words and expressions in them.

T: Good morning/afternoon, boys and girls.

Ss: Good morning/afternoon, Mr./Ms.××.

T: Su Lin is on a vacation in Canada.Dave is in Europe.How are their vacations going? Let’s read their postcards and review the words and expressions.

Students read the postcards aloud.

2.The teacher asks questions to lead the class to review the story.

T: How’s the weather in Canada and Europe?

S1: It’s warm and sunny in Canada and it’s cool and cloudy in Europe.

T: What are Su Lin and Dave doing?

1.Review the article in 2b by checking their homework.

T: Hello, everyone! Good morning/afternoon!

T: Read and review the postcards in 2b.

Ss read aloud.

2.T: Pretend that you were Su Lin.You are calling your friend.Make the conversation with your partner.

Students make the telephone call.

T: Pretend that you were Dave.Now act the conversation about Dave.

1.Before writing

Su Lin is on a vacation in Canada and Dave is in Europe.Do you know where Kate is? Please read the postcards in 3a and try to fill in the blanks.

2.Have one student read the postcards aloud and others check their work.

Then the teacher shows the pictures prepared for the students to match with the articles.Teach the words when talking about the pictures.Write winter, scarf(scarfs/scarves), sausage, skating, snowy.

3.Read the letter in 3a more carefully.

T: What kind of information is mentioned in the passage? Please read the passage again carefully.Then discuss the problem.

In the passage, the writer mentions the weather, clothes, people, special food, activities and feelings.

1.Before writing

T: Imagine it’s May Day.You are on a vacation.Can you ask and answer the questions in 3b? Please work in pairs.

2.T: Now you can write down your own answers in the exercise books.

3.Students write down their answers.Then ask three students to read their answers aloud to class.

4.Have students make a postcard with a piece of paper.Write something on it.

T: Now make your own postcards.Write about your feeling, the weather, your vacation activities, and something else you like.

Students write their postcards.The teacher gives help and then have some of them read their postcards aloud.Put some good postcards on the blackboard.

1.Activity 1: Collecting the words of feelings, weather, activities.

The teacher reminds the students that they must learn words in the semantic field.

T: It’s a good way to learn English words in the semantic field.Today let’s collect words about feelings, the weather and activities.How many words can you write in three minutes? Let’s have a competition in groups.Now let’s begin.

Students write in their groups.And then ask one girl and one boy to write on the blackboard.Others can add their words to see which team wins.

2.Read the word list aloud.And ask them to make conversations.

T: Now read these words aloud after me.Make conversations with the words like this:

T: Hi, Li Ling! Where are you?

S1: I’m in Harbin.

T: How’s it going?

S1: Pretty good./Not bad.

T: What are you doing?

S1: I’m learning to ski.

T: How’s the weather there?

Have students to answer with the words they can think of.Then ask some pairs to act out their own conversations.

3.Activity 2: Making telephone conversations.

T: Look at Activity 2.We see A and B sentences.Read these sentences and then match them to make telephone dialogues.

Get the class to work by themselves and check in pairs.Then ask two pairs to read out the dialogue in class.

4.Activity 3: Putting the sentences in order to make a conversation.

Students work by themselves and then practice in pairs.Ask some pairs to act out in class.
