1. —… What’s the score? 比分是多少?

— Spain scored a minute ago. 西班牙(队)一分钟前得分了。

在第一个句子中,score 是名词,意思是“比分,进球数” ;第二个句子中的score 是动词,表示“得分,进球”。例如:

After two hours and twenty minutes of play, the final score was 3:2.

经过两小时二十分钟的比赛,最终比分为三比二。

Arsenal scored in the final minute of the game.

阿森纳队在比赛的最后一分钟进了一球。

2. So this week’s match is already more exciting. 因此,这周的比赛早已更令人激动。

多音节形容词和部分双音节形容词的比较级形式是在词前加more。多音节形容词及部分双音节形容词比较级的句式结构为“主语+be+more+多音节形容词/双音节形容词+than+其他.”。

e.g. Running is more relaxing than playing basketball.

跑步比打篮球更放松。

Ping-pong is more popular than baseball in China.

在中国乒乓球比棒球流行。

3. What’s the matter with you, Tony?

“What’s the matter?”意为“怎么了?”,后面跟宾语时要加介词with,即What’s the matter with sb. / sth.?,它的同义句是“What’s wrong with sb. / sth.? ”。

e.g. What’s the matter with your sister? = What’s wrong with your sister?

你妹妹怎么了?

4. But you enjoyed watching the Olympic on TV, right? 但是你喜欢在电视上观看奥运,是吗?

enjoy v.欣赏; 享受; 喜爱[+v.-ing]

I enjoyed ________ these books very much.

Tom doesn't enjoy _________ to cinema.

汤姆不喜欢上学。

5. And staying at home was easier than going to the stadium. 呆在家里比去体育馆容易。stay at home“呆在家里”,在句子中作主语,因此要用动名词或不定式形式。

课文中像这样的句子还有:Watching is not dangerous and it’s more relaxing too!

6. Oh, he missed!

miss用作动词,含义比较广泛,可以表示“未击中,未达到;错过”,

e.g. The ball just missed my head.

刚刚那个球差点打中我的头

The children missed the early train.

孩子们错过了早班车。

也可表示“思念;想念”。

e.g. My good friend moved to another city last year. I miss him very much.

去年我的好朋友搬到另一个城市了。我非常想念他。

表示“错过”时,后面跟v.-ing形式,不能跟不定式。

e.g. David and his friend missed seeing the film.

戴维和他的朋友错过了电影。
