Should We Help Strangers?

On Mr. Dewey’s class, one of the issues we discussed was "Will you help the strangers?" Helping strangers has always been considered a treasured virtue of human kind. On the one hand, we need help from others throughout our life. On the other hand, helping others brings us tremendous happiness. Therefore, it is highly recommended that we help strangers when possible.

However, some people are cautions and would rather not help strangers because it can sometimes put us into trouble. Some strangers are just cheats who pretend to be pitiful in order to take advantage of our sympathy. Helping them would put us in danger.

In my opinion, we should still try our best to help strangers if possible, though we should also learn to protect ourselves from being

harmed in the process

专八作文 should we help strangers?

1 该帮we shall help strangers as much as we can.

Helping others can make us happy. what a great feeling it is to draw a smile on other's faces! And how much better do we feel about ourselves when we are trusted, needed and able to help?

Helping others makes the wourld more lovable and livable. if you are thankful for the times that others have helped you, then do your best to pass it on; if you hope to get help from others, offer hand whenever you can and you'll end up helping yourself.

However, professional cheats tend to take advantages of poeple who are kind, helpful and warm-hearted. we should use common sense to judge.

T o sum up, we should still offer what we can though we should beware of getting cheated.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2 不该帮people should not rush to help strangers under many circunstances.

first of all, helping others involves risks of getting hurt or cheated. leading a hand to a stranger often puts you in a vulnerable position for it means trusting aomeone you do not even know.

moreover, we may do more harm than good in urgent situation because of our physical ot intellectual limitations. there is a limit to how much we can do and should do; blind to that line, we may hurt rather than help others in many cases.

weighing up pros and cons, we sometimes have to deal with our emergencies before being nice to strangers. though it is a pleasure to help others, we should be aware of its risks and our limitations.

I am grateful to several people for their generous help in my study for the master抯degree and work on proverbs, either recently or in the past: in particular, my supervisor, Prof. Zhou Fangzhu, whose gracious encouragement and help must be acknowledged in the first place. And he has led me into the field of translation and offered me valuable advice for my thesis research, without which, the completion of the thesis would have been impossible. I cannot wait to express my heart-felt thanks to Prof. Zhou in whom I find an admirable combination of intellectual profundity and personal integrity. My indebtedness is due especially to Prof. Chen Zhengfa and Prof. Tian Debei, whose great attainments in the field of translation have granted me inspiration in writing the thesis. Likewise, I would also extend my heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Hong Zengliu and Prof. Zhu Yue whose lectures have nourished me in different fields of English study. Last but not the least, a word of thanks to the faculty of School of Foreign Studies of Anhui University as well as to my colleagues. Their kindness and help in the course of my study will forever be cherished

When a cripple in rag begged for help in the street, when

a poor boy knocked at your door in the evening and when an

old woman stumbled on the road, we maybe in a dilemma that whether we should give hands to those strangers.

We used to consider a lot .Are the cripple and poor boy belong to a cheating group? If we go to help the old woman up and send her to the hospital, will she come up with a plot to force us to compensate her? Because of these hesitation and worry, we have missed many chances to h elp others. Won’t it become a greater pity?

Undoubtedly, we ought to be cautious about the strangers. But don’t always keep looking at the darkness of the society and suspect everyone. There are numerous people who really need our help and only with our help can they go through the hardship. Imagine that without the generous contribution from the world, how can the

earthquake-stricken area be rebuilt so fast.? Imagine that without the care from the society, how can the vulnerable group gain the courage to go on their lives? If everyone

refuses to help the strangers, the whole society will become indifferent.

In one word, don’t be stingy with your help when strangers are in trouble. Only in this way can we spread love and warm the world.

He was secretly very pleased because he felt that he was becoming more and more popular! When the evening came, he dressed up smartly, took a taxi, and told the driver to go straight to the party. When Mr. Smith got there, he found that about a hundred people had been invited. He spoke to all the other guests, whether he knew them or not. Smith was feeling happy. He danced and danced with as many pretty women as he could find, feeling on top of the world. When dinner came, he was asked to sit beside a certain woman. The woman tried to be friendly, even though she had never met Mr. Smith before. Between the first and second course of the meal, she turned to Mr. Smith and said, "Do you see that gray-haired man at the end of the table?" "Ah, yes. Who is he?" asked Smith. "He's the Secretary of the International Department!" she replied. "So that's the Secretary of the International Department!" Mr. Smith said."I'm afraid that I find very little to like about him, although he is the Secretary." The woman did not reply. Smith went on, despite her coldness: "I really can't see how he received his post, unless he is perhaps relative of the President." "It hardly matters whether you like the Secretary or not," she said."He was chosen because the President thought he was the man for the job. If he does the job well, you should have nothing to say against it." "That's just it," said Smith, not easy to give up."No one does the things he does, unless he is a full fool!" "Sir," said the woman in a proud voice."Do you know who I am?" "No," replied Smith. "I am the Secretary's wife," she said coldly. Mr. Smith was greatly surprised, but he went on, in spite of his obvious error: "My dear lady, do you know who I am?" "No, I don't ," the woman replied. "Thank God!"Mr. Smith cried out, and quickly left the table. That 's all .Thank you .

speechonEducation关于教育的英文演讲

S p e e c h 1 Good morning, everyone! This week, we are going to learn a new topic——the Aims of Education. Differ from W hitehea d’s idea; I think the aim of education is to help people form a lifelong learning consciousness. In my eyes, education is not an end, but a means to an end. In other words, we do not educate children only for teaching them knowledge but to help them form a lifelong learning consciousness. 2 We can see that, as education appeared, the aim of it has always been a hot topic to human beings, especially the great thinkers. Their ideas towards the aim of education reflect the educational changes in human society. That is to say the aim of education is not static. In ancient Greek, Aristotle thought that “Education must aim at the development of the full potentialities of each man”. Later, it developed into the idea of training young people to be well-educated gentlemen or citizens in Henry Newman’s workThe Idea of a University. 3 As the society develops, the aim of education has taken in new meanings and implications-----to educate and train people to be all-roundly cultivated persons. To achieve this goal, one has to spend his whole life to learn. However, in the usual case people just spend some years on study in schools or universities. After they leave school, they seldom pick up books. Now the government is advocating building a “learning society”. It provides people chances to do some continuous learning in other schools besides the formal ones, like night schools. 4 In fact, t he idea that education should be throughout a person’s life has been existing for a long time. In China, it can be traced further back to “the Analects of Confucius”. Confucius said, “If some years were a dded to my life, I would give fifty to the study of the Yi, and then I might come be without great faults”. This indicates his idea of lifelong learning. Besides, some famous western philosophers also held the idea that individual education should be a continuous process. For example, the great thinker Aristotle claimed that “Education is the best provision for the journey to old age”. These claims above show that those great educators take education as a long term task. 5 Unfortunately, the time that people spend in schools or universities is limited, so is the knowledge they can learn in the formal schooling. As a result, it is significant for teacher to promote learner a utonomy and guide students to form a lifelong learning consciousness in school. But usually people do not take it serious until they leave school. I would like to take my elder cousin as an example. 6 My elder cousin went to a professional school after he graduated from high school. One year later, he became a workman in a factory. He was satisfied with the job and stopped learning. Yet as time goes by, now he feels that the task is beginning to exceed his ability. This is not a single case happen to those “graduates”. 7 Nowadays, more and more people realize this problem and start to take some measures to solve it. In order to get a higher degree, people take some courses on the Internet or go to night schools to do their further study. Such being the case, why not help people build up their consciousness of lifelong learning when they are still in school Thus they can do some preparation and try their best to create opportunities for further study even after they leave school. 8 To conclude, the aim of education ought to educate people to consider education as a continuous process and form this consciousness in school so that people can receive any kind of education in any time or anywhere to adapt to the development of society.

Since the implementation of the policy of reform and opening, Jiangsu Province has made great and rapid advancement in various aspect of its economic and cultural life. It has also made remarkable achievements in the past few years in its exchange and cooperation with foreign countries. CAIA will no doubt be a new impetus2 to the development of Jiangsu, which sits in the middle between conferences that are almost purely theoretical and those that are almost purely applications oriented. The purpose of this conference is to educate the professional software engineer in how to apply AI techniques to real problems. We are honored to invite some distinguished experts to give keynote speeches, focusing on the boundary between theory and practice; in particular, on representations and problem solving techniques and their demonstrated application to real problems. Thus, CAIA will provide the opportunity for researchers and engineers who are interested in “real world” applications to share their ideas and experiences. I sincerely applaud the opening of this conference, which is indeed a platform of technological exchange for guest experts and scholars home and abroad. I believe, by way of this conference, the relationship between us will be strengthened and we will innovate more beneficial solutions through the use of artificial intelligence technologies. 雅思口语话题范例:Speech Question Describe the most influential speech that you heard. Sample answer I have heard numerous speeches, lectures, commentaries on various topics and issues throughout different stages of my life and among them the speech that was given by our primary school teacher on occasion of our fare-well is the most influential one and I still vividly recall it. The teacher who gave the speech was Mr. Mark Augustine and he was at his late forties at that time. As fifth grade school going kids we did not comprehend quite clearly what was the school fare-well all about. We knew that this is going to be our last day at our primary school and we would start our new school soon. Mr. Mark was already a revered teacher for his teaching style, good manor, humour and honesty. Rumour had that, he was much more qualified to be a college professor rather than being a primary school teacher. On the day, we had our parents present in school and we had been enjoying everything. As part of the farewell speech Mr. Mark approached to the stage and started mentioning what funny things we had done in the last 5 years. We as well as our parents started laughing on the things he mentioned. He mentioned how a kid started screaming in the sight of a cockroach, how a kid of class two expressed his friendship to a girl, how we tried to play amid of the class and many more interesting and funny events. He then moved on topics that I still hear in my mind. He told how study is our primary responsibility, how we should listen to our parents, how have we achieved our liberation as a nation, how to respect the Mother Nature and all the honestly and bravery we should possess in our heart. The topics and his way of presenting them vibrated us heavily. I can still remember how the advises came back to my life time to time. As a kid those advises and moralities were probably way to heavy to grasp but I still believe that the speech had a great impact in my life as well as the lives of the other kids who were present there. Tips for answering this cue card topic: Think about a speech that you heard and liked/ disliked. Usually people remember speeches which are interesting, which were delivered with great eloquence and have lasting impressions. Such speech can be something you heard in person or watched on TV or heard on radio. Sometimes

Today the topic of my speech is fear. There are many kinds of fears in our life such as agoraphobia, fear of work, fear of the dark, fear of flying, claustrophobia,or even fear of public speaking. Ok,I have to say you'd be astounded at the number of people in the world who have an irrational fear of something. It's more than you'd think. Some people are scared of death, which is called necrophobia.(I am convinced that most people will be afraid when they see the lifeless body.Of course, maybe exclude the bodies of animals)Well,I find there are many people especially girls ,more or less ,got the https://www.wendangku.net/doc/ab1776902.html,ually,these people refuse to watch from the high places.Furthermore they will give you the common voice :'The view freaks me out.I will never ,never, never forgive you!!!'when you warmheartedly push them to enjoy the beautiful sightseeing on a high building.Claustrophobia can be defined in general terms as an irrational fear of enclosed spaces.People diagnosed with the phobia are typically scared of being trapped, unable to escape quickly and easily from the enclosed area.Airplanes, crowded rooms, elevators and subways are all examples of situations in which claustrophobe might feel distress. A boy once said that his stomach was tied up at the thought of speaking in front of all those people and even had nightmares for days beforehand. A girl refused to go outside in order to keep herself safe. That made she lose jobs as well as friends. A man washes his hands once an hour because he was afraid of the germs on his hands. A woman is always horrified at the thought of her home being broken into because there has been a lot of break-ins near where she lived. Phobias can be embarrassing for the suffers. They are usually aware that the fear is irrational, which may cause them to feel ridiculous or get annoyed with themselves. At the same time time, they cannot control the symptoms such as fainting, racing heart, shaking and sweating. Here are some tips : The key is to take small steps at first. Do not rush into anything;it'll only make things worse. Set small goals first, then gradually make them more challenging. Think positively about your progress. Be optimistic about what you want to achieve. Take up a competitive sport to get a better sense of control. If you still cannot get rid of your phobia, why not consult a professional or a doctor for help? They will give you both physical and medical cure. Say bye bye to your fear!Life is fresh and you can restart your life whenever you want.
