I’ve loved my mother’s desk since I was just tall enough to see above the top of it as mother sat doing letters. Standing by her chair, looking at the ink bottle, pens, and white paper, I decided that the act of writing must be the more wonderful thing in the world.

The best-selling book Wonder tells the story of a 10-year-old boy named Auggie. He gets bullied（欺

负）at school because he is not handsome.

Bulling is a problem in many schools. “Most kids don’t understand that when they laugh at an unkind

joke or make someone feel left out, that’s bullying, because it’s hard to imagine how the person on the receiving end is feeling,” says Wonder’s writer R.J. Palacio. “Stories are a great way for kids to think about
