While high school does not generally encourage students to explore new aspects of life, college sets the stage for that exploration. I myself went through this 41 process划线处应该填searching,和前文中的exploration呼应。

The professor was deaf and any talking was 57 . I soon realized that the silence was not unpleasant.

I learned that Freddy did several jobs after his 52 from high school and remained the same 53 person I met forty years before .

A.daring

B.modest

C.caring

D.smart

比如最后一题who are making a 55 in the world.

例如第51空,she has received a lot of 51 。

如47题,根据前文“she brought books home every night,”可知“All through the 47 , Alia, Anis, his brothers and neighbours took the books from the library”他们选择晚上转移书籍,故选B。

?? ??12,0. 设l 1:y =a ,l 2:y =b ,则ab ≠0? , 且A ? ????a 22,a ,B ? ????b 2 2,b ,P ? ????-12,a ,Q ? ????-12,b ,R ? ????-12 ,a +b 2. 记过A ,B 两点的直线为l , 则l 的方程为2x -(a +b )y +ab =0.

k 1= a - b 1+a 2=a -b a 2 -ab =1a =-ab a =-b =b -0 -12- 1 2 =k 2. 所以AR ∥FQ . (2)解:设l 与x 轴的交点为D (x 1,0)? , 则S △ABF =12|b -a ||FD |=12|b -a ||x 1-1 2 |, S △PQF = |a -b | 2 . 由题设可得2×12|b -a ||x 1-12|=|a -b | 2, 所以x 1=0(舍去),x 1=1. 设满足条件的AB 的中点为E (x ,y )? . 当AB 与x 轴不垂直时, 由k AB =k DE 可得2a +b =y x -1 (x ≠1). 而 a +b 2 =y ,所以y 2 =x -1(x ≠1). 当AB 与x 轴垂直时,E 与D 重合,此时E (1,0)满足方程y 2 =x -1. 所以所求轨迹方程为y 2 =x -1. ?设线:设出直线l 1,l 2可表示出点A ,B ,P ,Q ,R 的坐标,进而可表示过A ,B 两点的直线方程 ?设点:设出直线l 与x 轴交点,可表示出|DF |,进而表示出S △ABF ,根据面积关系,可求得此点坐标 ?设点:要求此点的轨迹方程,先设出此点,根据题目条件得出此点坐标的关系式,即轨迹方程 解决解析几何问题的关键在于:通观全局,局部入手,整体思维,反映在解题上,就是把曲线的几何特征准确地转换为代数形式,根据方程画出图形,研究几何性质.

Here are a few tips to help you along the way: Nature is all around us. 37 For small kids, there’s likely plenty in the backyard, courtyard, or schoolyard. National parks are great, but kids foster a deep connection with nature close to home! 38 Don’t worry too much about what to do once you arrive at your nature-rich destination. What kids really need is free time to engage all their senses and use their imaginations. You can learn too. What counts is simply to get out there, show that you value the outdoors, and be ready to have fun. 39 In fact, it is not necessary for you to know anything at all about science or nature. And remember, questions are more powerful than answers anyway! Sit back and watch your kids learn. Don’t be too much of a helicopter parent, always saying “no”. Instead, try to spare more time to stay with your kids when necessary.

If you studied pictures that ancient people left on rock walls and you tried to determine their meaning, you would not detect a deep interest in romance among the artists. 51 , you would see plenty of animals with people running after them. Life for ancient people seemed to center on hunting and gathering wild foods for meals. In modern times, when food is available in grocery stores, finding love is more 52 to people’s lives. The 53 is all around us. It is easy to prepare a list of modern stories having to do with love. An endless number of books and movies qualify as love stories in popular culture. Researchers are studying whether love, a highly valued emotional state, can be 54 . They ask, what is love? Toothpaste companies want us to think attraction is all about clean teeth, but clean teeth go only so far. Scientists wonder how much the brain gets involved. You have probably heard that opposites attract but that 55 attract, too. One thing is certain: The truth about love is not yet set in stone. First Impression To help determine the 56 of attraction, researchers paired 164 college classmates and had them talk for 3, 6 or 10 minutes so they could get a sense of each other’ s individuality. Then students were asked to 57 what kind of relationship they were likely to build with their partners. After nine weeks, they reported what happened. As it turned out, their 58 judgments often held true. Students seemed to 59 at an early stage who would best fit into their lives. The 60 Knows Scientists have also turned to non humans to increase understanding of attraction. Many

1 I used to be ashamed of my grandma. We live in a consumer society where there is an enormous demand for commercial products of all kinds. Moreover, an increase in industrial production is considered to be one solution to the problem of mass unemployment. 36 Many people believe that nuclear energy provides an inexhaustible and economical source of power and that it is therefore essential for an industrially developing society. 37 Firstly, nuclear power except for accidents, is clean. A further advantage is that a nuclear power station can be run and maintained by relatively few technical and administrative staff. The nuclear reactor represents an enormous step in our scientific evolution. Whatever the anti-nuclear group says, it is wrong to expect a return to more primitive sources of fuel. However, opponents of nuclear energy point out that nuclear power stations bring a direct threat not only to the environment but also to civilians. 38 There have, for example, been very costly accidents in America, in Britain and, and of course, in Russia. The possibility of increases in the cost of uranium in addition to the cost of greater safety provisions could price nuclear power out of the market. In the long run, environmentalists argue, nuclear energy wastes valuable resources and disturbs the ecology to an extent which could bring about the destruction of the human race. 39 In spite of the case against nuclear energy outlined above, nuclear energy p r o g r a m m e s a r e e x p a n d i n g. 40 However, it is doubtful whether this growth will or can continue. After weighing up the arguments on both sides, it seems there are good economic and ecological reasons for sources of energy other than nuclear power.
