i think my dad was a hero for me when i was a young child. wed go fishing, walks,

for being here. what i am going to talk about today is how to speak good english. english may be the most important factor in deciding which countries are leaders
in the future. the language of the most advanced management and technology is
undoubtedly english. being able to absorb this information is really the key to the
new century. in the 21century. we can’t go there and speak our own language because
nobody is going to learn it in order to understand us. our asian rival, india, has surged ahead of other developing
countries in information technology because of its superior english skills. unless we are able to master english, we will not be able to get our population
to use it and take advantage of the new economy. there is an urgent need to have a
workforce which is proficient in the language in view of the information technology
onslaught.
second, about learning english, i think laying a strong foundation is the first
and most important step. in other words, you should read and speak english every day.
memorizing new words and phrases is also helpful. of course, learning english takes
some time, so don’t be impatient. remember, rome wasn’t built in a day. and then
since english is not our native tongue, we must develop the muscles of your speech
organs to produce unfamiliar sounds. when you read, read as loudly as possible, as
clearly as possible and as quickly as possible. tongue muscles’ training is of
importance in learning any foreign language. every time you move your mouth, your memory will deepen, your muscles will
strengthen. you can make it.

2．heavy schoolwork【课业繁重】
in my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too
heavy. while it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well
if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults. high should be allowed more
time for play. playing is not wasting time, as some think. it gives them physical
exercise, and also exercise their imagination. which tends to be stifled by too much
study. finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can
cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally. i do not advocate
the elimination of schoolwork. i do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the
society as a whole.
我认为目前高中生的课业实在太重了，虽然说学生的确应当念书，但是要想长大成为健
全的人，他门还需要一些其它的东西，所以应该给高中生较多从事娱乐的时间。娱乐并不如

3．time【时间】
lost time is never found again. this is something which i learned very clearly
last semester. i spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer.
i finally realized that something had to be done. it was time for a change. now i have a new plan for using my time wisely. i have set my alarm clock ahead
half an hour. this will give me a head start on the day. i have also decided to keep
a log of what i do and when i do it. looking back on what i’ve done will give me

my first job was at a cramming school. it was three years ago when i just graduated
from junior high school and finished the entrance examination. since i had nothing to do that summer, i decided to find a job,
tasting the joy of independence.
i was responsible for answering the telephone and taking the message. i worked
eight hours a day, six days a week. the work was not difficult nor heavy to me and
i guess i did well. the most delighted thing was perhaps that i could spend the money
i earned all by myself.

though my daily life is extremely monotonous, i try hard to adapt myself to it.
why? because i intend to be a good student. i wish to render service to my country.
i get up at six o’clock every day. after i wash my face and brush my teeth, i
begin to review my lessons. i go to school at seven o’clock. after school is over, i return home. we usually have supper at seven o’clock. then i begin to do my homework. i want to finish it before i go to bed.

consider making friends with him.

it is true that we can derive benefits from good books. however, bad books will do

an english proverb says that time is money. i consider it (this) wrong. why?
because we all know that we can earn money be work but can not in any way get back

many people do not know the value of time. it (this) is indeed a great pity. we
must bear (keep) in mind that wasting time is equal to wasting your life.

it signifies the importance of honesty. there is no enumerating the evils of dishonesty here. in a word, a dishonest man
will be looked down upon by others and (be) regarded as a public enemy.
英国有一句谚语说“诚为上策”。它说明了诚的重要性。
诚的益处是什么？如果你对他人诚实，他们也会对你诚实作为报答。当你忧悉的时候，

attack the weak, but not the strong. why are our bodies not strong? because we
do not pay attention to exercise. for this reason, we students must often take
different kinds (sorts) of exercise in the gym. exercise helps us (to) strengthen our bodies and avoid disease. it also teaches
us cooperation, for most exercise is played by team.

in the first place, traveling increases our knowledge. only by traveling can we
see （因为用（only）开头，主动词须颠倒）things outside our home town. in the second place, traveling is good to our health. while we are traveling,
we usually exercise our bodies. in conclusion, i earnestly hope that everybody must seize (grasp at) the

if everybody can do so, the country will be rich and strong (powerful).
我的志向是做一个好公民以便能给国家效力。然而，做一个好公民不是一件容易的事情。
他有许多责任要尽。
一个好公民第一件责任是爱他的国家。他须准备为国家牺牲自己的生命。

富强。第十六天：the national flag 国旗
it is the duty of every citizen to honor the national flag. why? because the
national flag is the symbol of a (the) country. to respect it means to respect the
country. in other words, if a man loves his country, he must love the national flag. in school, the national flag is usually raised at a certain time every day. then
the principal, teachers, staff and students are to (must) stand before it and sing
the national anthem. it is indeed extremely meaningful to attend such a ceremony.

luck. i am sure that a hard-working person can always succeed in the work which he
wants to do. this is unchangeable truth. idleness is the opposite of industry. it is the source of all evil. an idle man
only enjoys playing and making pleasures. that he is doomed to failure is of no doubt.
we should not follow his example. 勤勉会带给我们成功，财富和好运乃是当然之事。
我确信一个苦干的人终是能够做成功他所要做的工作。这是不易之定理。
