We don't meet people by accident.

Every person you meet will have a role in your life, be it big or small. Some will help you grow, some will hurt you, some will inspire you to do better. At the same time, you are playing some role in their lives as well. Know that paths cross for a reason and treat people with significance.

The best teachers are those who don't tell you how to get there but show the way.

There is no better joy then helping people see a vision for themselves, seeing them go to levels higher than they ever would have imagined on their own. But that doesn't mean you have to fix them or enable them; instead, guide them to the source of their own power. Offer them support and motivation as they find their own way and show you what they're capable of. All you have to do is believe in them.

Never look down on someone unless you are helping them up.

We like to think of life as a meritocracy, so it's easy to look down on someone who isn't as successful or accomplished or well educated as you are. But you have no idea how far that person has already climbed or where they will end up. Time could easily reverse your positions, so be sure you treat everyone with dignity.

Appreciate those who have supported you, forgive those who have hurt you, help those who need you.

Business is complicated, life is complex, and leadership is difficult. Treat all people--including yourself--with love and compassion, and you can't go wrong.

Treat people the way you want to be treated and life will instantly get better.

Nurture your relationships. It's really prominent .

Your family and friends matter.

They appear in your life for reasons.

Cherish them. Let them know no matter how busy you are, you always have them in mind.

Spending time with people you look up to.

There must be someone who is living the kind you life you envision.

Spend time with them.

Spending time with these people need not be two-way all the time.

You can also spend time with them via reading or actively learning from their YouTube videos.

OK, I wasn’t fired but this is how it went.

Back in 2005, I had just started working and was almost at my peak of being a ladies man (or so i thought). Always spotted with a different girl (or so people perceived). I was an associate and kinda developed a crush on this manager. She

seemed nice and the usual.

Long story short I asked her out and it worked. (Story for another day).

We seemed to be pretty fond of each other and hung out quite a lot. In and out of office. Later on, during one of her 1-on-1s with her manager, he suggested her to stop hanging out with me. You know ‘perception is reality’ kinda stuff. That hanging out with a younger and reckless guy like me would be a career liming move for her.

She didn’t listen and shared this with me right after her meeting. And of course I felt bad. But not hurt.

We dated for a while and eventually broke up. For some other reasons. Mostly petty.

Fast forward 11 years, I join a new company as a Sr. Manager and word kinda spread about me. Mostly superficial- based on my looks and age.

By the end of first week, a guy walks up to my cabin and greets me with a ‘bhai’ after my name. I look at him baffled. It’s the same manager who my ex reported to all those years ago. We shake hands and talk for a while.

He then said ‘You have now become my manager. You have come a long way.’

It was quite a moment. Mixed emotions. But I was proud of myself more than anything. Proud that I worked hard and earned my respect.

Depending on the root cause, some stressful situations unfold over long periods of time–a few days, a couple weeks, even the better part of a year.

If you work for a company that’s struggling to survive, you may see no end in sight to the high-pressure environment you’re working wit hin.

In cases like these, you need to find ways to escape at least for a while.

Unfortunately, many people’s first reaction is to do the reverse–cutting back on personal time in order to slog through a tough situation.

Remember, stress isn’t just a response to what’s already going on around you–it’s also your reaction to negative things that might happen but haven’t yet.

So it’s important not to sacrifice the habits and routines that sustain you over the long haul.

And somewhat counterintuitively , one solution is to do things that lessen work-related stress in the near-term.

Yoga and mindfulness exercises are common ways to create a sense of peace and serenity.

No, they won’t eliminate your dread of what might still be on the horizon, but they can dam pen the arousal that’s getting the best of you right now.

The other alternative is just to find something truly enjoyable to do, whether or not it induces calm or mindfulness.

Go to a movie or concert. Play a game. Do some exercise.

In this case, you’re focusing your motivation on something desirable, rather than something stressful.

The motivation to do pleasant things competes with the motivation to avoid negative ones.

So if you can immerse yourself in positive activities, you’ll shift your motivation away from the focus on the stressors for a while.

This can at lest help you keep stress that you can’t totally eliminate at manageable levels over long periods.

Job interviews can be mildly terrifying for anyone, but they’re extra-extra-terrifying for introverts. Here, some tips for giving a great first impression, even if your instincts are to go hide in a corner.

“I’ll just wing it” should not be a line in any introvert’s arsenal—that’s especially be true for interviews. Whether you enlist a pal to run through questions with you ahead of time or just practice in front of a mirror, go through an entire mock interview out loud until it feels natural.

Introverts aren’t naturals at self-promotion, so take stock of the things you’re best at and figure out a no-nonsense way to talk about them. We find it easier to talk quantifiably (“At my last company, my press materials brought in 12 new clients”) rather than with bravado (“I’m a terrific writer. Everyone knows it.”).

Off-the-cuff comments and free-flowing conversations aren’t typically where introverts shine, so instead of leaving things up to chance, brainstorm a list of all the questions you think your interviewer will ask you and prepare your answers accordingly.

We’re not saying you should put on a hat and a pair of those fake moustache glasses, but scoping out the area where your interview will be proves majorly comforting come go time. Map out your route (or even try it the day before) to minimize travel-related stress and triple-check the weather to make sure you’re dressed appropriately. (No introvert wants to show up a sweaty mess.)

If you’re uncomfortable in what you’re wearing, it’ll show on your face and in your body language. Before an interview, take some time to select pieces that make you feel like the boss you are.

In the days leading up to an interview, introverts might start to feel insecure about their inward-facing qualities. Don’t! Instead, try tal king up your more positive introverted tendencies right there in the interview. For example, many introverts are detail-oriented, thoughtful, creative and serious self-motivators.

If you can help it, don’t schedule back-to-back interviews. Allow yourself to regroup after each one by booking a massage, setting aside time to read a good book or making a favorite meal for dinner—pretty much anything that constitutes self-care.

Not everyone reciprocates the gesture.

This is a hard truth but it’s true.

If other people poured the same amount of effort into me as I pour into them, things would probably be different, but things aren’t always equal in friendships and relationships.

I honestly think that we should help other people and take care of them because it’s a good thing to do, not because we want something back.

But by the same token, if we’re not getting anything back to sustain us when we need it, we shouldn’t help people to the poin t where we drain our own resources.

I’m not being selfish.

Putting yourself first feels so wrong when you first start doing it.

If you’re used to erasing your own needs to look after others, it seems too self-indulgent.

But actually, the only way to consistently and effectively help other people in the long-term is to make sure you’re in a good place yourself.

I’m important too.

It actually took me a while to get to the point where I can say this, but there’s no reason why my own wants and needs shouldn’t matter as much as the other people in my life.

I deserve to have the same level of support and I certainly deserve to get where I want in life.

I deserve to be happy.

Helping people has always made me happy and it still does, but I’ve come to understand I want another kind of happiness too – pride in my own achievements, emotional resilience, stuff that’s really to do with me and not anyone else.

It’s time to make that happen.

Yes. That's right. And the first of all these would be exercising for at least 30 minutes everyday.

You already know how important exercise is, right?

It keeps your body in optimal condition, keeps your brain sharp and make you more confident.

Make sure you exercise daily no matter how busy you get.

If you sacrifice health for wealth, someday you’re going to sacrifice your wealth for health.

And remember to visualize long, middle and short term goals.

It’s easy to lose the big picture when you’re immersed in detailed executions.

It’s also easy to miss out the details executions when you’re grasping the big picture.

Visualizing long, middle and short term goals allow you to refresh your mind about your current situation.

Besides, don't forget planning your day.

When you do #5, you set the goals or locate the destination. When you plan your day, you work on the specifics.

A plan should be specific, actionable and measurable.

Spend 10 minutes on planning everyday and you’ll experience a productivity boost.

And reflection before going to bed is also pretty important.

No matter how well you’ve done anything, there’s always room for improvement.

Reflect about the things you’ve done and think about how you can do better the next time.

Just do that while laying, right before you sleep.

You don’t necessarily learn things from every reflection. But the more you reflect, the better you will understand about yourself and the better person you will be come in the long run.

For most of us, there will be quite a number of friends to make in our life.

That's one thing about how beautiful life is.

You get to meet all these different faces and different minds which you never thought would be there for you.

But unfortunately, most of them will eventually leave you.

There will be those who do not see eye to eye with you.

Sometimes they decide to leave you.

Sometimes it's the other way around.

This is what once made me so depressed , that all good things come to an end.

But now I've come to terms with it.

Some friends are just not meant for a life time.

You come to like each other because you saw something you like in each other.

But then there comes a day when you suddenly find out they are not really who you have perceived.

This is just what life is.

You don't really need that many friends. Eventually you only need those who truly count. You only need those who really know you.

What is the most important quality for a person to succeed?

You may be aware of that people have long been debating about whether it's IQ or EQ.

One of them measures how much you can master complexity.

The other measures how much you can understand and control emotion.

Sure, they are both very important.

But neither of them is the critical one.

General Patton once said: "I don't measure a man's success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom."

And this quality is called AQ, which stands for Adversity Quotient.

It measures how well you can handle adversities.

Most people can do very well when everything is fine.

But most of them will collapse once a great adversity comes and neither IQ or EQ can save them from that.

Can you handle an adversity? If not, make yourself.

A group of researchers in America have done a survey .

They asked a lot of people what their greatest regret is.

And according to the statistics they got, 75% of the people said it's that they didn't work hard enough when they were young and as a result they had achieved nothing.

Nowadays it seems popular for young people to deliberately stay confused and do nothing seriously.

That's really sad.

Youth is the most precious thing you have. And it's the most precious resource at your hand.

Stay busy when you are young. Fight as much as you can. Life is hard enough even if you try. Let alone if you don't.

Like what they say in Game of Thrones, winter is coming.

Winter is coming for everyone, all the time.

This winter's name is Time.

Opportunities are for those who have prepared themselves.

Are you one of them?

Morning offers several benefits that can’t be found at other times of the day. Shifting your schedule might take some adjustment , but it’s worth it.

You'll have more energy.

Doing your best work means managing your mental energy, and you automatically have more mental energy in the morning when you wake up.

Even if you didn’t sleep great but enough, you probably have much more mental energy to willfully refocus and let things go that don’t matter.

You can think creatively and have more capacity to use your prefrontal cortex.

This makes a huge difference for using your time productively as you can choose what you want to work on, and stay on track and follow through.

You have fewer decisions to make.

You don’t have to do the things that drain mental energy, like making a lot of small decisions.

Small decisions use up our self-control regulator abilities.

It’s not a finite resource that runs out, but i t gets harder to do as you go along.

You go from thinking fast to thinking slow. You get hungrier.

Mornings allow you the time and space to work on things that are important.

Every morning, you are defining how your life would be like.

No, I'm not saying the cliche that every morning you have the chance to make a different decision.

What I'm suggesting is that how you choose to live your morning speaks a lot about how you choose to live your life.

There are people who choose to get out of the bed in the last minute and grab whatever they can get to eat or even give up breakfast all together.

These people are choosing to make their lives failures, because apparently they have no idea how to make solid plans and make life organized.

There are another kind of people who choose to make every morning in order.

They get up relatively early and can finish a lot of things before they go to work.

That makes the whole day way easier for them and make them more

productive in the office.

Yes, how you live your morning does speak a lot about how you live your life.

Don't underestimate it.

If life treats you unfairly.

Don't cry. Don't shout. Don't complain to anyone.

Because that's just how life is.

It's never fair.

Let me tell you a story. Once upon a time there were two boys.

One of them was short and the other was tall.

They stood in front of a low wall and both wanted to see what was beyond that wall.

The taller one could easily do that but the shorter one needed to stand on a chair to reach the height.

To the taller one the chair was only a chair.

But the shorter one called the chair Justice, because it made the situation "fair".

Well, real life is just like this. It's not fair.

Most people complain about it and stop at just complaining about it, while a few others choose to bear this unfairness and try to discover their own strength.

And this second kind are the ones who have a chance to truly run the world.

Only by bearing unfairness can you bear responsibility.

That's how life works.

87 Every day is a lucky day I teach economics at UNLV three times per week. Last Monday, at the beginning of class, I cheerfully asked my students how their weekend had been. One young man said that his weekend had not been so good. He had his wisdom teeth removed. The young man then proceeded to ask me why I always seemed to be so cheerful. His question reminded me of something I'd read somewhere before: "Every morning when you get up, you have a choice about how you want to approach life that day," I said. "I choose to be cheerful." "Let me give you an example," I continued, addressing all sixty students in the class. "In addition to teaching here at UNLV, I also teach out at the community college in Henderson, 17 miles down the freeway from where I live. One day a few weeks ago I drove those 17 miles to Henderson. I exited the freeway and turned onto College Drive. I only had to drive another quarter mile down the road to the college. But just then my car died. I tried to start it again, but the engine wouldn't turn over. So I put my flashers on, grabbed my books, and marched down the road to the college." "As soon as I got there I called AAA and arranged for a tow truck to meet me at my car after class. The secretary in the Provost's office asked me what has happened. 'This is my lucky day,' I replied, smiling." " 'Your car breaks down and today is your lucky day?' She was puzzled. 'What do you mean?'" " 'I live 17 miles from here.' I replied. 'My car could have broken down anywhere along the freeway. It didn't. Instead, it broke down in the perfect place: off the freeway, within walking distance of here. I'm still able to teach my class, and I've been able to arrange for the tow truck to meet me after class. If my car was meant to break down today, it couldn't have been arranged in a more convenient fashion.'" "The secretary's eyes opened wide, and then she smiled. I smiled back and headed for class." So ended my story. I scanned the sixty faces in my economics class at UNLV. Despite the early hour, no one seemed to be asleep. Somehow, my story had touched them. Or maybe it wasn't the story at all. In fact, it had all started with a student's observation that I was cheerful.

The Historical Significance of American Revolution The ways of history are so intricate and the motivations of human actions so complex that it is always hazardous to attempt to represent events covering a number of years, a multiplicity of persons, and distant localities as the expression of one intellectual or social movement; yet the historical process which culminated in the ascent of Thomas Jefferson to the presidency can be regarded as the outstanding example not only of the birth of a new way of life but of nationalism as a new way of life. The American Revolution represents the link between the seventeenth century, in which modern England became conscious of itself, and the awakening of modern Europe at the end of the eighteenth century. It may seem strange that the march of history should have had to cross the Atlantic Ocean, but only in the North American colonies could a struggle for civic liberty lead also to the foundation of a new nation. Here, in the popular rising against a "tyrannical" government, the fruits were more than the securing of a freer constitution. They included the growth of a nation born in liberty by the will of the people, not from the roots of common descent, a geographic entity, or the ambitions of king or dynasty. With the American nation, for the first time, a nation was born, not in the dim past of history but before the eyes of the whole world.

As a teenager,I felt I was always letting people down. I was rebellious out-side,but I wanted to be liked inside. Once I left home to hitch-hike2 to California with my friend Penelope. The trip wasn?t easy, and there were many times I didn?t feel safe. One situation in particular kept me grateful to still be alive. When I returned home,I was different, not so outwardly sure of myself. I was happy to be home. But then I noticed that Penelope, who was staying with us,was wearing my clothes. And my family seemed to like her better than me. I wondered if I would be missed if I weren?t there. I told my mom,and she explained that though Penelope was a lovely girl,no one could replace me. I pointed out,“She is more patient and is neater than I have ever been.”My mom said these were wonderful qualities, but I was the only person who could fill my role. She made me realize that even with my faults—and there were many-I was a loved member of the family who couldn?t be replaced. I became a searcher, wanting to find out who I was and what made me unique. My view of myself was changing. I wanted a solid base to start from. I started to resist3 pressure to act in ways that I didn?t like any more, and I was delighted by who I really was. I came to feel much more sure that no one can ever take my place. Each of us holds a unique place in the world. You are special,no matter what others say or what you may think. So forget about being replaced. You can’t be. If you put a buzzard1) in a pen2) six to eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of ten to twelve feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt3) to fly, but remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. The ordinary bat that flies around at night, who is a remarkable nimble4) creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is to shuffle5) about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation6) from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. A bumblebee7) if dropped into an open tumbler8) will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists9) in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself. In many ways, there are lots of people like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. They are struggling about with all their problems and frustrations10), not realizing that the answer is right there above them.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the Earth, it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We all waited, some patiently, others irritated, because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens w ashing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, "Mom, let's run through the rain." she said. "What?"
