The whole essay contains twenty-five paragraphs which could be separated into four main part. As the first two parts have been studied before, now I will analyze the rest parts which are addressed as the explanation of how technological disasters were created and the solutions to the natural disasters caused by human-beings.

In the first two parts, the author draws a vivid and living pictures of the harmony between men and nature, while with the wild use of pesticide, the delicate balance was completely broken down and many towns do not exist as the worst result. In this way, the attempt of this essay or in other words this great work is revealed, that is to pursue the root of the reason.

Standing in the point view of Rachel Carson, the history of life on earth equal to the interaction between living things and the surroundings of them. As human climbed to the top of the food-chain, the power that used to came from the environment then exerted to living things converted. Among which, the most substantial and destructive influence is the mostly irrecoverable contamination in each aspect that caused by the abuse and ignorance of biocide. The terrible consequences are exhibited in the following three aspects: First, the nature actually fails to produce the counterpart to the synthetic chemicals; second, the universal application of the chemicals kills considerable untargeted living beings; third, the counteractive effect of chemical war leads to the drastic increasing number of the insects.

However, the re asons for why the insects problem coming into people’s sights are two. First and foremost, the intensification of agriculture provides a wonderful greenhouse for the mass propagation of insects; second, the introduced species carried across the border becomes the most troublesome insects in every disasters.

To solve this problem, Dr.Elton says, basic knowledge is urgently needed rather than the new technology works to suppress. And at the ending part, the author also appeals people to gain a basic knowledge of what they are using and what this is for.
