All around the word, shoppers flock to Walmart to buy everything. In Texas, they come for another reason: to see the wind turbine (涡轮机), which supplies 5% of the store's electricity. It along with other facilities, such as exterior walls coated with heat-reflective paint, makes this Walmart a green giant.

The laws of economics suggest that Walmart, with 5,200

stores worldwide, influences everything including the price

of all kinds of goods. It throws its weight behind

environmental responsibility, and the impact could be amazing.

“One little change in product packaging could save 1,500 tr ees,” says Walmart CEO Lee Scott. “If everybody saves 1,500 trees, or 50 barrels of oil, at the end of the day you will make a huge difference.”

Scott wants Walmart to do its part too. He has promised to cut the existing

greenhouse gas emissions (排放) over the next few years and promised to construct new stores that are more efficient. He wants Walmart's fleet (车队) of more than 7,000 trucks to get twice as many miles per gallon by 2015. Factories that show Walmart they're cutting air pollution will get preferential treatment in the supply chain. Walmart says it's working with consumer product manufacturers to reduce their packaging and will reward them if they do so.

Some people may doubt it is a bid to attract attention from Walmart's controversial labor and health insurance practices. But it's not just window dressing, because Walmart sees profits in going green. Scott says, “This_is_a_business_philosophy,_not_a_social_philosophy. We don't go where we don't think there's a great interest in change.”

Like Bill Gates, who started his charitable foundation, Scott happens to be promoting Walmart's image at a time when his company's reputation is declining. He acknowledges that he launched the plan partly to shield (保护) Walmart from bad press about its contributio n to global warming. “By doing what we're doing today, we avoid the headline risks that are going to come for people who did not do anything,” he says. “At some point businesses will be held responsible for the actions they take.” Meanwhile, should Walmart succeed in shrinking its environmental footprints and lowering prices for green products, both the planet and the company would profit.

高中英语有效教学的策略 发表时间:2013-03-21T16:13:08.077Z 来源:《中国科技教育·理论版》2012年第12期供稿作者:吴丹丹 [导读] 现代高中英语教学的首要目的应是帮助学生取得持续发展的基础,以适应未来社会的发展需要。 吴丹丹江苏省灌南县第二中学 222500 摘要本文笔者对高中英语有效教学的策略进行了探索。 关键词高中英语有效教学策略 现代高中英语教学的首要目的应是帮助学生取得持续发展的基础,以适应未来社会的发展需要。现代英语专家、学者们大量的研究发现:词汇困难频繁地影响着口头交际,交际的中断常常是人们不能适当使用词汇所致。所以,我在教学中主要采用了如下的英语词汇教学策略: 一、高中英语词汇教学策略 导入( Presentation)。单词的呈现最好在上下文中。只是为教单词而单词,孤立地呈现,既枯燥又乏味。我通常以介绍和讨论关键词(与文章主题思想紧密相关的词语)来启动学生已有的知识。关键词可以由教师课前有意识地精心挑选,在上课时进行介绍;也可让学生在课堂上通读课文,引导学生进行课堂讨论,找出文中的关键词语。这样就把学生的思路引到了文章的脉络上。这些关键词串成一条线,高度浓缩了文章的内容,使学生对整篇文章的内容有了总体的了解。 讨论( Discussion)。通过分组讨论思辨,积极活动产生头脑风暴来发展语言的应用能力,调动学生已有的词汇知识,发表学生自己对文章内容的观点和看法,实现知识向能力迁移,使他们在尝试错误与“词义达到”时,加强学生头脑中的知识的重新构建。 活动( Activity),通过复述或表演来加深对文章的理解,深化学生对新学词汇的理解。小组活动能减轻学生在参加语言交际活动中可能产生的焦虑心理,使他们表现出更大的学习积极性和创造性。小组活动也能使学习者个体在课堂上有更多的时间和机会来练习使用目的语。大量研究表明,学习者在交际过程产生的交互修正能大大增加语言习得的可能性。此外,将讨论模式运用于课堂教学可以减轻学生的被动性以及对记忆的过分依赖。 强化( Reinforcement)。通过口头、笔头练习或游戏,来检测学生对文章的理解,达到巩固所学词汇之目的。课外有条件的话,以E-mail的形式,建立校园网上作业----作业“超市”,加强师生联系,让学生摄取更多有用的信息。在强化阶段,应进行适当的超量学习。刚刚完整地记忆所学材料后再继续用50%的时间和精力去重复记忆能获得最佳效果。就是说,刚刚能完整地记住的时间或次数定为100%,再继续用50%的时间或次数去记忆,效果最佳。 我们的英语教学中阅读词汇向听力词汇转化是一个薄弱环节。通过大量的阅读可提高词汇自动化程度。教师应指导学生先从简单易懂、生词少的文章读起,然后配合核心单词和词组的学习,读一些含有常用词汇、出现频率高的词汇的文章,以此来巩固已学词汇,逐步达到词汇辨认自动化。然后利用多媒体辅助教学强化学习效果。并且对有些内容幽默有趣的文章,通过背诵、讲故事等形式,促进阅读词汇向听力词汇的转化。 二、英语语篇教学策略 语篇教学从理解整篇内容入手,运用所学语言和知识浏览和捕捉重要语言线索,对所读文章获得一个总体印象,然后分段(语篇)找出中心思想和主要信息,对文章进行表层理解;在此基础上,来理解作者的意图和立场,对篇章进行深层理解:然后学生根据作者所表达的内容,说出自己的看法、观点,进行评价性理解。因此,我们在对英语课的设计过程中,围绕这三个理解,具体可采用以下教学策略 1.导入(呈现):通过有效的导入能丰富和激活学生的背景知识,背景知识对篇章的理解要大于语言知识。 2.速读:对整个篇章有个大致了解,能回答一些识记性的问题。 3.理解:通过作记录、问答、找中心、关键词( key words)等途径来检查学生对文章的表层理解。 4.精读:通过精读,使学生掌握文章中所内含的信息。了解各语篇的含义、作者的写作意图,对文章进行深层理解。 5.复述(激情表演).通过复述或表演来加深对文章的理解,深化学生的语言应用能力。更好地服务于速读和精读这两个环节。 6.讨论:通过分组讨论或俩俩讨论来发展语言的应用能力,发表学生自己对作者所发表内容的观点、看法,实现知识向能力迁移。还有对篇章进行评价性的理解。 7.巩固:巩固本课的内容,加深记忆。可通过一些口头或笔头练习,来检测学生对该篇章的理解,达到巩固的目的。 语篇教学要求教师在课堂教学中要不断注重向学生传授各方面的知识,扩大他们的知识面。具体说来,在课堂教学实践中,教师不能仅仅满足于对教材中的语言难点的分析和训练,而要善于挖掘教材中的那些含有民族文化背景知识和社会内容的语言现象,并结合这些语言现象,广泛地向学生传授文化、语用、认知、文体等方面的知识。这样才有可能真正提高外语应用能力。 语篇理解是一个双向的心理过程,要正确理解作者的思想,就需要运用读者自己脑子里储存的知识。在语言交际中,听者和读者往往根据说者和写者发出的语言信息,在自己的记忆中搜寻有关这方面的知识和经验来对可能发出的话语信息进行预测、假设和推断,从而达到理解。因此,这对教师提出了更高的要求,他不但要备课,更要备“人”,以填补学生的信息沟(information gap)。教师要根据不同的教学对象、内容和阶段,精心备课,以使学生能在课堂上通通自身的实践,掌握学习和运用语言的能力,真正提高英语教学效果。

幼师56班英语教学工作总结 熊伟 本学期,我任教11级幼师56班级的英语教学。在各位领导和老师的热心支持和帮助下,我认真做好教学工作,积极完成学校布置的各项任务。下面我把2011年下学期的工作做简要的汇报。 一、学校制度执行情况 平时积极参加全校教职工会议,认真学习学校下达的文件,关心国内外大事,注重政治理论的学习。配合本组里搞好教研活动。每周按时参加升旗仪式和例会,并且认真做好笔记,从不缺勤。工作上服从安排,人际关系融洽。业余不从事有偿家教及第二职业。 二、教育教学情况 1、潜心钻研,认真备课。 在备课中,我认真研究教材,力求准确把握难重点,难点。并注重参阅各种杂志,制定符合学生认知规律的教学方法及教学形式。注意弱化难点,强调重点。教案编写认真,并不断归纳总结提高教学水平。 2、以生为本,微笑上课。上课时注重学生主动性的发挥,发散学生的思维,注重综合能力的培养,有意识的培养学生的思维的严谨性及逻辑性,在教学中提高学生的思维素质。微笑行动,也是我对自己的教学的新的要求,学生喜欢老师的笑脸,这样能给学生自信. 3、虚心学习,坚持听课.注意学习组里老师的教学经验,努力探索适合自己的教学模式。同时,积极参加校外听课活动,并认真总结经验,

取长补短.经过听课,评课,本学年对自己的教学促进很大,我也在努力提高自己的业务水平。 三、自身的学习情况 1.为了提高自身的专业水平,我不断给自己“充电”。吸收新的知识坚持学习有关英语方面的知识,阅读《英语沙龙》、《21世纪报》等英语报刊杂志,学到很多新词汇和新知识,并且获得不少新信息。 2.为了提高自身的业务水平和教学水平,积极参加学校的校本培训,并且认真做笔记,写体会。有时向老教师学习好的教学方法和好的教学经验。每天和同段的老师一起讨论和学习教学思路。从而提高自己的上课水平。 四、其他方面 积极学习教育名著,并做笔记。针对职高班级学生英语基础的普遍差的情况,我跟学生一起,寻找原因,虽然步履蹒跚,我也乐在其中。为此,我制定了具体的计划和目标。对这部分同学进行有计划的辅导。英语是语言,知识零碎,因此,除了注意课堂效果之外,我还不厌其烦地让学生读,给学生讲。为此,在上课结束时,我坚持利用课余时间了解情况,苦口婆心地讲道理,发现问题及时纠正。在日常工作中,我还积累了一些教学案例,并针对英语知识的特点,做点滴积累。
