→汉语中“被”、“受”、“挨”、“遭”等表示被动字眼，在译成英语时常用被动语态。

→在汉语中主动者不言而喻或不清楚的，往往用“人们”、“有人”、“据说”之类词居句首，英语有固定的译法，译文的开头往往用被动结构。如：据说他是个教师→ It is said that he is a teacher.

→凡是汉语句子的主语是表示实物的名词或代词，而其谓语又是“是 + 动词（或主谓词组）＋……”结构时，用被动语态。如：这篇文章是他翻译的→This article was translated by him.

→有些汉语句子用地点来当主语，这样的句子译成英语时常译成被动语态。如：上海出现了许多新的公司。→ Many new companies have been set up in Shanghai
