教学法第二单元

国际学院四班闫慧09189600 Unit 2 Communicative Principles and Task-based Language Teaching In this unit, we have acquired the two most influential approaches in foreign language teaching, namely, the Communicative Language Teaching and Task-based Language Teaching. Firstly, language used in real life differs from language learned under the traditional language teaching pedagogy in three aspects: 1In real life, language is used to perform certain communicative; however, the teaching focus is often on forms. 2traditional pedagogy tends to focus on one or two language skills and ignore the others, but in real language use we use all skills. 3 in reality language is always used in a certain context, but traditional pedagogy tends to isolate language from its context. In order to bridge the gap between classroom language teaching and real life language, we have to develop five components of communicative competence that is linguistic competence, pragmatic competence, discourse competence, strategic competence, and fluency. Also, we need to know some principles like communication principle, task principle, and meaningfulness principle. The translation of communicative competence in language teaching practice is to develop learners’ language skills, namely, listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Task-based Language Teaching is widely promoted in English language teaching. The definition of task is a piece of work undertaken

for oneself or for others, freely or for some reward. A task has four main components: a purpose, a context, a process and a product. But we should design tasks, five steps: 1 thinks about students’ needs, interests, and abilities.2 brainstorm possible tasks 3 evaluate the list 4 choose the language items 5preparing materials.

Through learned this unit, I know no matter what the CLT or TBEL have their advantages and disadvantages, we should develop in an all-around way ,and have our own style to let students like us, like English!
