Singapore Airline Case Study

1.Examine the External environment that could affect SIA? (PESTLE analysis)

PESTLE ANALYSIS

Political Governments in developing countries realized the benefits of tourism to their national economies and invest in the development of airport and airlines and travel infrastructures.

Economic Asia’s large population, rapid economic growth, and growing mid class had fuelled the airline industry. In the past decade, air travel has grown by 7% per year. Travel for both business and leisure purposes grew strongly worldwide. Scheduled airlines carried 1.5 billion passengers last year. In the leisure market, the availability of large aircraft such as the Boeing 747 made it convenient and affordable for people to travel further to new and exotic destinations.

Social Singapore Airlines has maintained its position as one of the best-known and best-performing brands in Asia, and remains one of the few consistent performers in an industry where established brands are struggling to stay alive.

SIA also choose its strategic partner from companies with robust brand images.

Technological On the technology side, Singapore Airlines maintains the youngest fleet of aircraft among all major air carriers, and keeps to the stringent policy of replacing older aircrafts for newer, better models. It has always been first in line to take delivery of new aircraft types like Boeing 747 jumbo jets, Boeing 777, and it will become the first airline to fly the Airbus super jumbo A-380 in 2006.
