Step1. Pre-writing activities

1. Revision.

T: Hello, everyone! Christmas Day is coming! I am going to have a Christmas party tomorrow, can you come to my party?

First, get the students to make their own conversations.

Then, ask some pairs to act it out.

Finally, let them work in groups of four, sum up how to make, accept and turn down the invitations.

T: Now you know how to accept and turn down an invitation, there are some invitations (in Self-check 2), but you can’t go. Please write a refusal and a reason.

1.Get the students finish this part by themselves.

2.Work in pairs, ask and answer.

3.Show their answers.

(【设计意图】:后天就是圣诞节,学生对这个节日也比较感兴趣,因此利用举办圣诞晚会这个话题来谈论如果接受和拒绝别人的邀请,充分调动了学生的积极性和参与

度。练习之后,让学生小组合作,总结出接受和拒绝别人邀请的句型,为下

一步的写作做好铺垫。复习总结完之后,接着做Self check的第二部分,有

2. Preview

Ask the students to translate the following Chinese(Page 71-72) into English. First ask the students to put them into English orally, then write them down without looking at the text.

Ask the students to translate the following sentences.

2.Warming up and lead-in.

T: Hello, boys and girls, we learned about how to make, accept and turn down an invitation. Can you tell me what information should the invitation have?

Ss discuss in groups of four, then show their answers:

What kind of party. When and where it will be.

T: Great. You know some of the information the invitation have, there are also some other information, do you want to know?

Ss: Yes.

T:OK. Let’s come to 3a, you can get the answers from it.

3.Read for the general idea读取大意

T: Class, Christmas Day is coming. What will you do? Will you have a Christmas party or do anything else? Write your own invitation to your party or any other event. You can imitate the invitation in 3a.You can also add some more information if possible.

写作指导:

本题要求同学们写两个小作文,一个是写一个邀请他人参加某聚会或活动的信函;

另一个是答复你伙伴的邀请信。 认真阅读邀请函所包含的内容:

邀请谁参加;邀请人是谁;聚会或活动的类型;举办的时间与地点;客人的着装;客人是否须带东西;客人是否须答复此信;何时及如何答复此信。

1.主题句:正文开篇交代邀请目的。或先以自我介绍等方式一两句导入,然后尽快表

明邀请目的。

2.支持句:简明交代整个安排的内容,可用连词使之前后更连贯。

3.总结句:给对方提出希望,可让对让提前做相应准备。

参照3a 写一个包含上述内容的邀请函,注意运用右栏中的提示词语。

Step3. Post-writing activities. 1. Show your composition.

1) The teacher shows 2 or 3 compositions on the screen and evaluate them with the students. At the same time, tell the students how to evaluate the composition.

2) Students exchange their compositions with their partners, and evaluate the composition by item 3) Each group select the best piece from all the compositions of them and give them to the teacher. The teachers shows them on the screen.

T: New Year is coming, we will have a New Year’ in our class. When is a good time to have the party? Please fill in the chart first. Then , work in groups of four and make an interview, then find a time that all of you can come to the party.
