Our class have had a discussion about whether we can use mobile phones.

Some students think it is good to use mobile phones because they can take photos with them in their daily life. They can also listen to music to relax themselves in free time. Besides, using mobile phones makes it easy to keep in touch with their parents or friends.

But some others don?t think so. They think students shouldn?t use mobile phones. Using mobile phones too much is bad for their eyes and it?s a waste of time to chat with friends. Sometimes some

students use mobile phones to play games. It will have a bad effect on study.

In my opinion, I think we?d better not use mobile phones. We should spend more time on our study instead of using mobile phones.

Passage 2(2017杭州8分)

餐馆的由来及发展历程

Do you know when restaurants were invented? The first restaurants were invented thousands of years ago. However, they were very different from restaurants today.

The first restaurants were in ancient Greece and ancient Rome. These restaurants served food in large stone bowls. People didn't order food from a menu. Everyone used to share the food from big bowls. People believe that these places were very popular because most homes in ancient Greece and Rome did not have kitchens. Also, people didn't have to store food at home if they ate their meals at these restaurants.

Later, restaurants began to open in China. In the early 1100s, more than 1 million people lived in the city of Hangzhou, China. It was a very busy city, and people had money. All of these people had to eat. Smart cooks started cooking and selling food along the Imperial Way, a very big street in the city. Unlike in ancient Greece and Rome, people in China could choose food from a menu. They didn't have to eat the same food as everyone else.

For the next several centuries, there were restaurants all over the world. People could buy food on the street or at inns—small hotels. Then, in the middle of the 1700s, restaurants started opening in Paris. These restaurants were more similar to restaurants we know today. There was a bigger variety of food, and eating in these restaurants was a more enjoyable experience. In the 19th century, trains made travel much faster and simpler. In the end, this kind of restaurant began to appear all over Europe and in other parts of the world.

Now, restaurants are everywhere. You can buy a variety of different kinds of food. You can have food sent to your door. But remember it wasn't always like that.

Passage 3(2017浙江义乌8分)

无人驾驶汽车

Have you ever seen a car without a driver? It sounds crazy, but these computer-driven driverless cars will soon be filling roads near you. Companies like Google and Tesla have been designing and testing these cars, and the technology is there.

So how? The cars have sensors (感应器) all around which can find other cars and objects in the road. Road signs are read by cameras, and satellite navigation systems (卫星导航系统) are used so the car knows how to get where you want to go. All you have to do is typing in the address! Finally, a central computer system takes in all the information that it receives from the sensors and cameras and works out when to speed up, stop and turn.

Sound like your idea of heaven? Sitting back, looking out of the windows and even watching a film or reading a book while …driving? would be possible with this new technology. You wouldn't have to worry about remembering directions to where you're going. In addition, computers would also drive more safely than people—they would obey the rules and have quicker reaction times when in dangerous situations.

However, there are many drawbacks of driverless cars. Computers would have difficulties making ethical (道德的) decisions: if a child runs into the road, would the computer choose to hit the child or turn suddenly and potentially kill the car's passengers? Moreover, I personally find driving fun—I'd miss never driving a car myself. There would also be many other decisions to be made—should children, or drunk people be allowed in a driverless car by themselves? Or would there need to be a person with a driving license in the car at all times?

I'm not certain I'd want a driverless car—but it's only a matter of time before they'll become more affordable and popular on our roads.

1. When using a driverless car, you only need .

A. read the road signs carefully

B. check the cameras

C. put the address into the computer

D. remember the directions

2. The third paragraph mainly tells us about the of driverless cars.[来源学科网]

A. instructions

B. standards

C. advantages

D. tests

3. The underlined word “potentially” in Paragraph 4 means“”.

A. possibly

B. successfully

C. especially

D. naturally

4. What's the writer's opinion about future driverless cars?

A. They will use less energy.

B. They will be less expensive.

C. They will cause more accidents.

D. They will run much faster.
