I am not picky about food and it is hard for me to decide which food I like most.

Yes,I like music very much. I like classical music and Traditional Chinese music best.

In my opinion, the value of music lies in its healing power. There are at least two reasons for people to listen to music. One is for pleasure and recreation. A piece of good music or a song can bring the listener a pleasant feeling and a good mood. The other reason is for health. People nowadays are becoming more and more conscious of their diet. The benefits of the healthy food and exercise are well known. However, there is one more fact that people may not be aware of. It is the positive impact of music on health. For both young and old people, music is an effective means of managing stress and hence can be an important and effective tool to facilitate healthy existence. Thus, music can play an important role throughout our lives.

Well, there are many things we can do to keep fit. First of all, we should maintain a good mood and a good living habit. Avoid acquiring unhealthy habits, such as drinking and smoking. Secondly, we should take regular exercise, such as jogging, swimming, basketball and table tennis, etc. Thirdly, we should have a healthy diet. It is scientifically proven that vegetables and meat with rich proteins will be essential for our brain and body development. Lastly, we should keep a proper balance between work and rest. A good sleep will help you stay energetic throughout the day.

Two of my friends are working at Haier,the international corporation.

No. I worked in a big company during the summer vacation as a a part-timer.

I like working in a big business company. It’s interesting andchallenging .

4. What qualities would an employer like to see in an employee?

All employers look for certain qualities or personal attributes in addition to the skills that you are required to possess for that particular job. Personally, I believe employers usually prefer employees who are honest, loyal, competent and hard-working. Of course, different jobs may require different qualities. For example, loyalty and industry may not be enough for a management position which also requires insights and leadership.

6.What qualities are needed for promotion?

Promotion is related not only to experience but also to personality and ability. honesty, loyalty, and industry.

when to invest and when to stop.

A top-level leader of a business company must have good interpersonal relationships

with his or her employees and clients.

Unit 7 Fashion

1.Which is most important to you in deciding what to buy, brand name, quality, or price?

quality is most important to me when I buy clothes or other things.

2.Do you spend much money on fashion?

I don’t spend much money on fashion because it changes quickly.

3.What kind of clothes do you like to wear?

I like to wear casual clothes . T-shirts

4. Do you find it important to follow the latest fashion? Why or why not?

I don’t think it is important to follow the latest fashion. For me, fashion is not essential but optional. More often than not, I’d rather spend more time figuring out a solution to a problem at work than deciding which handbag to go with my dress or shoes. Fashion changes fast with time and it is just not that wise to follow its every step. One doesn’t need modish outfits to look really smart. It is actually cooler to create one’s own dressing style and have one’s own opinion about what is really worth striving for.

Unit 8 Society

1.What kinds of lottery tickets are available in China?

Well, I know that lottery is a big business in China though I don’t have the official figure. Roughly there are two types of lottery in our country. They are China Welfare Lottery and China Sports Lottery. For each type, there are different games with their own rules. For example, one can buy a Sports Lottery ticket, betting on the result of a particular football match. The money raised from lottery sales will be used in sports undertakings or to help the poor and the needy. But there could also be certain social problems if people treat lottery as a form of gambling and spend too much money on lottery tickets.

2.Why do people buy lottery tickets? Do all of them dream of winning the lottery?

People who buy lottery tickets dream of winning a large sum of money easily and quickly / want to try their luck / intend to support a worthy cause / want to help the

state with its social welfare projects.

3. Do you buy lottery tickets? Why or why not?

No, I’ve never bought any lottery tickets because I don’t think I’d have the luck to win anything.

4.What is the intention of the Chinese government in issuing welfare lottery tickets?

Lottery tickets are issued to raise money for state projects / a charity. The money raised from lottery sales will be used to help the poor and the needy.

5. Have you or your relatives ever won the lottery? If so, what did you or they do with the prize money.

No,I don’t have relatives ever won the lottery.

6. Many Americans buy lottery tickets. Can you guess how lottery winners in the US spend their prize money?

Every day, millions of Americans buy lottery tickets.Most American winners quit their jobs after winning the lottery.

Some winners spend their money on education for themselves or their children, some on traveling and some on home improvement.

7. What would you do if you won a million yuan in a lottery?

If I won a million yuan, I would use part of it for furthering my studies , buy an apartment for my parents , donate a large part of it to social welfare causes and invest some money in a business.

Unit 9 Dreams and Ambitions

When I was a little child, I wished to become a world-famous scientist .

At present, I wish to find a job I’m really interested in / related to my major / offering a handsome salary.

I think among many factors, the most important one is determination. You have to be able to follow your dreams regardless of any obstacles. If you have a sound enough reason “why” you are doing something, you will be more determined in accomplishing it. Great determination can help you face tough situations with courage and perseverance. It makes you move along the path you’ve chosen no matter what stands in your way. No dreams can ever be realized without determination.

6. Are opportunities important to the realization of one’s dream?

Unit 10 Disasters

1.What are natural disasters? And what are man-made disasters?

Natural disasters are caused by forces of nature. Earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, wild fires and droughts are natural disasters that are beyond the control of humans, while plane crashes, traffic accidents, explosions and fires belong to man-made disasters.

2.What damage can they cause?

Natural disasters like earthquakes or floods may claim hundreds of thousands of lives and leave thousands of people homeless.

where and how did it happen?

I saw on TV an earthquake struck causing great / serious / severe / huge damage to human life and property

For example, we can donate money and necessities to help them fight against the natural disaster. We can provide food, clothing and medical care for them. We can provide shelter for the homeless and take them into the warmth of our own homes. 大学英语听说教程课件 英语听说选材贴近学生生活与社会现实,都是学生喜闻乐见的内容,形式新、巧、奇,图文并茂,为学生创造了一个宽松、适宜、创新的英语学习环境。 大学英语听说教程课件 摘要:根据大学英语视听说课程的特色,设计本课程的教学方法。以这些教学方法为基础,实现"视""听""说"三位一体的教学,以此达到切实提高学生的听说能力的教学目标。 关键词:视听说课程教学方法设计三位一体教学 英语专业的视听说课程可以说是历史悠久,而大学英语的教学一直以来都集中于综合英语的教学,用于听力和口语教学的时间少之又少。近年来许多高校都尝试在大学英语教学中把综合英语课程和听说课程分开,进行分科教学。分科教学既有利于老师对所教课程深入研究、充分准备和灵活讲授,也更有利于老师因材施教,有的放矢地组织教学,充分调动学生英语学习的积极性。[1]我校每周大学英语课时为六节,进行分科教学后综合英语更改为每周五节,视听说课程教学为每周一节,也就是说两周才安排一次为时两节课即九十分钟的教学时间,一个学期除掉假期、学生实习和考试时间,真正意义上上课的时间为每学期六次即540分钟。如何在如此短的时间内,在学生基础比较薄弱的情况下(相对于英语专业的学生而言)切实提高学生的英语听说能力,这是所有视听说课教师为之头痛而亟待解决的问题。如何
