Overwrite this text with the main body of the paper.

The best way to keep the template formatting with respect to font and font size is to write your paper within the template. If it is already written elsewhere and you are copying the text, please use the ‘Merge Formatting’ option when pasting (from the button on the Synthesis/Synlett ribbon tab, or right-click, and under Paste Options, choose the arrow icon). This will keep your character-level formatting (e.g., bold, superscript) and merge it with the template paragraph formatting. The fonts in use in the template are Calibri Light and Cambria.For Word 2007 users, Merge Formatting is not available so formatting must be done manually after pasting.

Insert graphics and tables by first placing the cursor at the beginning of a new line where you would like the graphic to appear, then selecting the type and width from among the choices in ‘Graphics’ and ‘Tables’ on th e Synthesis/Synlett ribbon tab.

Page-wide graphics and tables should be placed at the top or bottom of a page to ensure proper reading flow between paragraphs. A section break is required before and after, so if you must move a page-wide graphic or table, be sure to have the section breaks selected as well.

Reference markers are added by giving the appropriate numbers, in numerical order throughout the manuscript, as superscripts,1–3and should be placed after the relevant punctuation.4,5 All references must be cited.6–8

The experimental section has no title; please leave this line here. Overwrite this text with the experimental section.

Introductory experimental paragraph: Give a brief description of apparatus, instrumentation (makes and models), and methods used. Include the sources of any unusual reagents. All known compounds should be indicated by a reference or a CAS registry number. Procedures

Provide detailed procedures, including workup, isolation and purification methods,R f values if isolated by chromatography, mass and % yields (both are required), physical description of the product (color, state), melting point if the product is a solid, and optical rotation if appropriate. Analytical data for the given compound then follows in separate paragraphs – use a new paragraph for each mode of analysis. IR (???): peaks listed in decreasing cm –1.
