There are some profound sentences:

Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free. A strong man can save himself, a great man can save another.

I find I'm so excited. I can barely sit still or hold a thought in my head. I think it the excitement only a free man can feel, a free man at the start of a long journey whose conclusion is uncertain. I hope I can make it across the border. I hope to see my friend, and shake his hand. I hope the Pacific is as blue as it has been in my dreams. I hope.

An actor's line(台

Everyone is the god of his own. If you have succumbed to yourself, then who can be your savior all through the world? ---Form The Shawshank Redemption The story begins with the trial of a young banker called Andy, who victimized by circumstantial evidence and be put into the Shawshank prison. Ellis and many other prisoners had been in the prison for so many years that they had accustomed to this kind of life. Even they did not want to go out. It’s not only because they can’t, but also that they lived here for years without hope. You see, they lived just in the small prison living a boring life, it’s a gray world where nobody knows what their dream was, what their hope was. However, as the old man said: Some birds aren't meant to be caged, but most birds will choose to stand it. Though they tried too many times, they never finished it, so they gave up. Nonetheless, Andy tried. He has the smart brain, the never fading persistent, as well as the most important thing----hope.

The Shining of Freedom and Hope ------the comment on “The Shawshank Redemption” “Some birds aren’t meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice.” Freedom is so precious that everyone who has lost it has a strong desire for it. Just like the hero of the movie, “The Shawshank Redemption”, Andy Dufresne. The movie is based on the short novel named “RITA HAYWORTH AND SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION” of Stevin King. On my view of it, freedom and hope are two main themes. To tell the truth, I was shocked by the scenes. When all the prisoners were rinsed through a big waterpipe, I couldn’t believe it is called “shower”… And the scene Andy crowed to fre edom in the foulness for 500 yards makes me cry… In this movie, the daily life in Shawshank prison is played so real. The brutal jailer who kills a man crying in his first night in prison, the warden who forced Andy to help him channel dirty money, all of them are spokesmen of the incredible Shawshank. Since Andy is innocent, he has ever had a chance to be discharged form prison, but the malicious warden shoots the deponent. Yes, he wants Andy help him forever. Although the background is hard for Andy to survive, but he never gives up. He says, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best thing in the world. And no good thing ever dies.” So, only could he escape from prison and then live safely. He is not only a great president of a large Portland bank, but als o a satisfying friend, even a terrific prisoner… Another two characters must be mentioned are Old Brooks and Red. After being clocked in prison for 50 years, Brooks is totally institutionalized. When he leaves the stone walls and goes to outside world, it is hard for him to accept the cruel fact that he is nothing to the world. In the end, he leaves his name and commits a suicide. Brooks’ ending indicates that the freedom of body is meaningless, and the important thing is the freedom of one’s heart. Well,Red is the narrator in this movie. Also he is Andy’s friend in Shawshank. When he

In 1947, a banker named Andrew "Andy" Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover, based on strong circumstantial evidence.

A Special Interpretation of The Shawshank Redemption In China, The Shawshank Redemption is a film of great distinction. And it always ranks first in many recommended lists of movies, treasured and cherished. Naturally, there are already large quantities of remarks on the leading roles. Allowing for this, writing one more piece can be nothing but the icing on the cake. As for me, I would rather open a new path. So on second thoughts, I decided to go into details about Brooks Halten, one you might neglect easily. Brooks Halten was a short gray-haired old man with deep wrinkles on his forehead, which represented an impression of affability and clemency.Considering his long time spent in prison, educational background and his friendship with Jack, it is no wonder that Brooks is a character endowed with particular significance, menial but vital. Among these, most noteworthy may be Jack, a bird he saved and nourished. Truth to tell, I was moved wholly while Brooks was feeding Jack in his arms. So warm and touching was the scene that I would never forget it. However, much to my astonishment, hardly had he heard the congratulations on his parole from Heywood when he went out of his mind and lost control of himself. Unfortunately, the amiable old man ended up dying by his own hand in terror soon after he tore himself away from Shawshank. Freedom coming, he gave up on himself and was reduced to killing himself instead. How ironic it was! The narration of Brooks Halten is not designed to probe into institutionalization. What I desire to point out is my personal view that it is none other than the despair arising from the huge gap between an individual and the society that drove him to the wall. It has been entirely 50 years since Brooks was put in prison. Great changes have taken place outside as time zipped by yet he knew nothing. As was described in his correspondence, a new and flourishing world was speeding ahead with continuous development of science and technology while he was too old to learn with the result that he could not adapt himself to the instant world, completely overwhelmed and hopeless. Worse than ever, he had no family and friends to turn to. So it was out of the question for him to bridge the gap and build up his identity again. Choked with dread and anxiety in his mind, he had no choice but to commit suicide in a gesture to free from the inner violent psychological imbalance. To find out the most essential factor arousing the death of Brooks contributes to the reassessment of the prison system. Reflecting on it, most of us merely look on the bright side, which is on behalf of sanctions those deserve ill of and safeguard for a harmonious society. Nevertheless, we had better chew on its rationality from prisoners' standpoint. It is natural that they should answer for their crimes and pay the price. Providing that they thoroughly reform themselves at long last but fail to make a fresh start as Brooks Halten, who is it that should be to blame and compensate for their suffering and the miserable ending? Were it not for long-term isolation, they would not be trapped in such a dilemma. Not only shall we advocate equity and justice, but we are also meant to keep love and forgiveness in mind. Peccant as the criminals are, they still have human rights, rehabilitation included. In a sense, separating them from the real world is tantamount to depriving them of their second

The Shawshank Redemption is a 1994 American drama film written and directed by Frank Darabont, based on the Stephen King novella Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. The film stars Tim Robbins as Andrew "Andy" Dufresne and Morgan Freeman as Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding. The film portrays Andy spending nearly two decades in Shawshank State Prison, a fictional penitentiary in Maine and his friendship with Red, a fellow inmate. In 1947, a banker named Andrew "Andy" Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is convicted of murdering his wife and her lover, based on strong circumstantial evidence. He is sentenced to two consecutive life sentences at Shawshank State Penitentiary in Maine, run by Warden Samuel Norton (Bob Gunton). He is quickly befriended by Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding (Morgan Freeman), a fellow inmate serving a life sentence who has recently failed to gain parole. Andy finds Red has connections on the outside who can acquire contraband for the inmates, and first asks Red for a rock hammer in order to maintain his rock collection hobby, which he uses to fashion a home-made chess set. He later asks Red for a full-size poster of Rita Hayworth for his wall, replacing them over the years with ones of Marilyn Monroe and Raquel Welch.
