本课是Project English Grade 7 Unit 1 Topic 3 Section A,其教材是以“What class are you in?”为中心话题,学习和运用数字11-20和如何询问他人的年龄、班级和年级。这些都是与我们的生活实际密切相关,能够轻松地激起学生学习英语的兴趣,师生、生生之间的交流也培养了学生的合作精神,促进了学生,教师的情谊,从而对学生英语学习水平的提高会有很大的促进。

二、Teaching methods 教学方法

初中生的好奇心,求知欲是比较强的,但是其抽象思维能力比较低,注意力容易分散,所以我采取情景交际法,任务型教学法和小组合作学习法,从而激发学生学习英语的兴趣,让孩子能轻松接受。本节课通过给学生设定具体的任务,小组合作完成任务,让学生集中注意力,为了其任务及学习目的去实施特定的语言行动,从而获得更多的知识。

三. Study methods 学习方法:

善于抓住用英语交际的机会,充分感知,积极体验,大胆实践。积极参与,善于合作。例如,本课设计了几个任务,操作简单,学生一定很感兴趣并积极参与其中,从而合作完成

任务,培养了团队精神。

五、Teaching procedures 教学程序

Step 1 Review

1. Oral practice. Work in groups Greet to each other.

2. Sing The Numbers Song and review the numeral words: 11-20.

3. Add a “tail” (suffix) to the words learnt. Lead to the new lesson. Lead to learn the numeral words: 11-20. For example:

four fourteen

six sixteen

seven + teen seventeen

nine nineteen

Step 2 Presentation

1.Ask the Ss to observe the numeral words: on the Bb, and find out the

rules, and try to master the numeral words: 11-20.

2.Listen and read 1a, paying attention to the word stress.

3.Play a Bingo game. Finish 5.

4.Ask the Ss to take out their name cards. Ask the Ss to master the new

words “year”, “old”, “class”, “grade”, “in”,and the patterns “How

old …?”, “…years old ?”“What class /grade …in ?”and “…in

Class…,Grade …”

5. Learn 2a.

Look the film on the screen 2a or practice 2a between the teacher and the Ss. Emphasize how to write “ class”, and “grade” in the right form. For example ,”Class Four, Grade Seven”.

Listen to 2a and follow it. Imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Finish 2a. Learn and master “age”.

Step 3 Consolidation

1. Read 2a and help Li Ming complete Sally’s name card. Finish 2b.

2. Ask and answer between the teacher and the Ss. For example:

T: How old is Sally/Li Ming?

Ss: She/He is …

T: What class is she/he in?

Ss: She/He is in Class…, Grade…

Step 4 Practice

1. Listen to 3 and match. Then let the Ss read the four sentences.

2. Look at the film 4a. Listen and read 4a. Imitate the pronunciation and intonation. Finish 4a.

3. Practice 4a in pairs. Then exchange the roles and act it out. Finish 4b.

Step 5 Project

Give the Ss some blank information cards as follows. Ask the Ss to complete the cards, using the information they have collected from other Ss by using the learnt sentence patterns. Give praise to the student who finishes the most cards.

Unit 7 The Joy of Travel Transformative Travel Twenty-five years ago I felt like a wreck. Although I was just 23, my life already seemed over. The future appeared as much like a wasteland as the emptiness I could see while looking back to the past. I felt lost, without choices, without hope. We were challenged to make commitments publicly about things we would like to change in our lives, and in a moment of pure impulsiveness, I declared that by the next class meeting I was going to quit my job and end my engagement. A few days later I found myself unemployed and unattached, excited by the freedom, yet terrified about what to do next. I needed some kind of transition from my old life to a new one, a sort of ritual that would help me to transform myself from one person into another. So I did something just as impulsive as my previous actions: I booked a trip for a week in Aruba. In spite of what others might have thought, I was not running away from something but to something. I wanted a clean break, and I knew I needed to get away from my usual environment and influences so as to think clearly about where I was headed. Once settled into my room on the little island of Aruba, I began my process of self-change. I really could have been anywhere as long as nobody could reach me by phone and I had the peace and quiet to think about what I wanted to do. I spent the mornings going for long walks on the beach, the afternoons sitting under my favorite tree, reading books and listening to tapes. Probably most important of all, I forced myself to get out of my room and go to meet people. Ordinarily shy, I now decided that I was someone who was perfectly capable of having a conversation with anyone I chose. Since nobody knew the "real" me, the way I had always been, I felt free to be completely different. It took me almost a year to pay off that trip, but I am convinced that my single week in Aruba was worth three years in therapy.
