In a cab, a woman seemed in such a hurry. She constantly rushed the cab driver to drive quickly. She was so absorbed in her own thoughts of getting to the airport as soon as possible that she was not aware they were going by a different route.

All of a sudden, a young man got inside the cab. He took her handbag in which she had put her visa, passport, and all the money for the trip.

The cab driver, who was in collusion with the robber, left her exactly in the middle of a dark street. She thought that she was rather unfortunate in the very situation.

During the very night, she was told a piece of shocking news. Tears came down her cheeks. Flight 360, the plane that she should have got on board, had crashed. Had she not lost her important belongings, she could surely have lost the thing far more precious—her life.

Sometimes bad things really happen. There are times when nothing seems to go our way. So what should we do about it? We must get rid of all these frustrations and start all over again in the faith that we will get what we deserve.

Don’t waste your time and energy on things that can’t be changed.Continuous worrying will only affect your health and you’ll be do ing much more damage than what was previously done.

What if it is the other way round? What if we never run out of good luck?

There was a man who won the lottery. He became greedy and wasted all his money on everything he could get his hands on.

But when he one day made it to the front page of the newspaper again, it was a different story. He had been killed because of his riches. If you attain good luck, you can never be too secure about it. Life is so unpredictable. You never know what will happen next.

Live one day at a time. We sometimes subject ourselves to unnecessary emotional trouble. But please don’t forget: sometimes misfortune can be the source of happiness. Live for the moment. Do what must be done for the present and the future will turn out just fine. Believe me. And believe in yourself. As Captain Planet always says, “The power is yours!”

The evidence for harmony may not be obvious in some families. But it seems that four out of five young people now get on well with their parents, which is the opposite of the popularly-held image of unhappy teenagers locked in their rooms after endless family quarrels.

An important new study into teenage attitudes surprisingly shows that their family life is more harmonious than it has ever been in the past. “We were surprised by just how positive today’s young people seem to be about their families,” said one number of the research team. “They’re expected to be rebellious and selfish but actually they have other things on their minds: they want a car and material goods, and they worry about whether school is serving them well. There’s more negotiation and discussion between parents and children, and children expect to take part in the family decision-making process. They don’t want to rock the boat.”

So it seems that this generation of parents is much more likely than parents of 30 years ago to treat their children as friends. “My parents are happy to discuss things w ith me and willing to listen to me,” says 17-year-old Daniel Lazall. “I always tell the m when I’m going out clubbing. As long as they know what I’m doing, they’re fine with it.” Susan Crome, who is now 21, agrees. “Looking back on the last 10 years, there was a lot of what you could call negotiation. For example, as long as I’d done all

my homework, I could go out on a Saturday night. But I think my grandparents were a lot stricter with my parents than that.”

Maybe this positive view of family life should not be unexpected. It is possible that the idea of teenage rebellion is not rooted in real facts. A researcher comments, “Our surprise that teenagers say they get along well with their parents comes because of a brief period in our social history when teenagers were regarded as different beings. But that idea of rebelling and breaking away from their parents really only happened during that one time in the 1960s when everyone rebelled. The normal situation throughout history has been a smooth change from helping out with the family business to taking it over. ”

25. What is the popular image of teenagers today?

A. They worry about school.

B. They quarrel a lot with other family members.

C. They have to be locked in to avoid troubles.

D. They dislike living with their parents.

26. According to the writer, teenage rebellion __________.

A. existed only in the 1960s

B. is common nowadays

C. may be a false belief

D. resulted from changes in families

27. What is the passage mainly about?

A. Harmony in family.

B. Education in family.

C. Negotiation in family.

D. Teenage trouble in family.

C

Rats that eat high levels of a natural sugar known as fructose(果糖)seem to age faster than other rats.and the same could be true for people who eat too much sweet junk food,Israeli researchers said Monday.

Fructose, found naturally in honey and fruit,is used widely in foods ranging from soft drinks to yogurt. But while its sweet taste is popular, the sugar could cause wrinkles, the researchers said.Dr.Moshe Werman and Boaz Levi of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology fed large amounts of fructose to laboratory rats.Writing in the Journal of Nutrition, they said the fructose-fed rats showed changes in the collagen(胶原蛋白)of their skin and bones.Collagen basically holds the body together. The loss of collagen is what causes loose skin and deep wrinkles in older people. The process affected,Werman’s team said,is known as“cross-linking(交叉相连)”.“Too much cross-1inking makes the skin stiff, and these are the conditions that encourage wrink1ed skin,”Werman said in a statement. He said the same could be true of people, although this has not been shown.”Americans are eating more and more processed foods such as baked goods, canned fruits, jams and dairy products that contain fructose,”Werman said.Other studies have shown that taking in high fructose may cause diabetes(糖尿病).

The rats Werman worked with were fed much more than the average adult person might eat in a day, which is standard in such experiments. The rats were fed 12.5 grams of fructose per kg of weight everyday for a year.

32.In the experiments,if a rat was 0.25 kg,it may have been fed about ____________ grams of fructose every day for a year.

A.3 B.4 C.5 D.6

33.Why do older people have deep wrinkles according to the passage?

A.They don't drink enough water every day.B.They don’t take enough exercise every day.

C.Collagen in their body is lost.

D.Their daily foods do not contain enough fructose.

34.What can we learn from the passage?

A.The fructose-fed rats only showed changes in the collagen of their skin.

B.Too much cross-linking makes the skin soft.

C.The amount of sugar the rats ate was larger than an ordinary adult might eat in a day.

D.It hasn’t been shown that taking in high fructose may cause diabetes.

35.The best title for the passage should be“______________”.

A.Sugar-it could reduce collagen

B.Collagen-it could age you

C.Collagen-it could cause wrinkles

D.Sugar-it could age you

All of us know the old saying “Practice make perfect.’’ It tells us unless we want to realize our aim, we should practice, and one day we will make it. It’s easy to understand. Once I wanted to learn to swim. At first I found difficult to control my body. I just sank into the water. I feel very frightened.

Then I watched others who were good at them and asked them the key to succeed. I went to the swimming pool every day, learned from them and practiced. Text 1

M: I think I’ll have ice cream for dessert. What would you like to have?

W: The chocolate cake looks delicious to me. But I want to lose weight.

Text 2

W: Do you have any plans for this weekend, John?

M: I’m actually supposed to go out of town with my parents. It’s my dad’s birthday, and they invited my sister and I to go skiing with them.

W: Oh, that sounds nice! I was going to ask you if you wanted to go to the movies with me.

M: How about next weekend?

Text 3

M: Josie, would you mind helping me paint my bedroom tomorrow? My brother was going to help me, but he broke his arm yesterday. I will make you lunch... what do you say?

W: Of course I will help you, Oliver. I am sorry to hear about your brother’s arm. I hope he feels better soon.

Text 4

M: How do you figure out the fare?

W: Well, the first five kilometers are $5, and every extra kilometer costs you $3.

Text 5

W: Do you have any experience doing this kind of work, M r. Jacobs?

M: I’m afraid I don’t, madam, but I’ve always been interested in this type of work. And I have a lot of other experience, as you can see from my résumé.

Text 6

M: Hello, madam. What can I do for you?

W: My feet hurt. I think I need some new shoes.

M: What size do you wear?

W: The last time I bought new shoes was about a year ago, and at that time, I was a 7. M: Well, once you get to be in your twenties, your feet stop growing, so you are probably still a 7. But let’s measure them just in case.

W: O K… so, what does it say?

M: Well, it looks like you’re an 8. No wonder your feet have been hurting you. You’ve been wearing shoes that are one size too small!

Text 7

W: Whew! Thanks for stopping. Sometimes it can be impossible to get a cab in the rain. M: No worries. Where to?

W: I’m going to Fifth Avenue and East 22nd Street. No rush at all, though.

M: Well, that’s good because it looks like we’re not going to be able to move more than a few feet per minute!

W: Well, that’s what happens when it starts to rain during rush hour. I’m one of the lucky ones. Usually, I would have an appointment around this time, but today I get to go home early!

M: That’s great, madam. I’ll try to get you home as early as possible.

Text 8

W: OK, that’s a cut! Let’s take it fr om the top, everyone.

M: What was the problem that time?

W: The feeling was all wrong, Mike. She is telling you that she doesn’t want to see you anymore, but I want to get more anger from you. You’re acting hurt and sad, but that’s not how your character w ould act in this situation.

M: But Jason and Laura have been together for three years. Don’t you think his reaction would be one of both anger and sadness?

W: At this point, no. I think he would react the way most guys would, and then later on, we would see his real feelings.

M: I’m not so sure about that.

W: Let’s try it my way, and you can see how you feel when you’re saying your lines.

After that, if it still doesn’t feel right, we can go back to the drawing board.

Text 9

W: Hey, welcome to Berlin! I t’s great to see you again.

M: Yeah, good to see you too! Have you been waiting here at the station long?

W: Only fifteen minutes. But let’s get out of this cold and go to my apartment! How are you feeling after that long bus ride?

M: Ah, it wasn’t too bad. It was only nineteen hours.

W: That’s crazy! You could’ve flown here from London for 60 euros, and it would only have taken an hour and a half. Was it really worth all that time, just to save a bit of money?

M: Well, it was a pretty uncomfortable ride, to be honest. The bus was starting to smell toward the end of it, and there was a guy next to me who was breathing really loudly while he was sleeping. But the reason I took the bus was because it’s more environmentally friendly than flying.

W: I think it’s great you want to help the environment. But you look so exhausted right now. I just think you should be a little more careful with your health.

M: Well, I wasn’t expecting the bus to be so unpleasant. But you’re right. Next time I visit you, I’ll probably fly.

Welcome back to Modern Parenting. We’ve already talked about being open and honest with your kids, but there is one thing that all good parents do, and it’s surprisingly simple: read to your kids. Studies show that children are better prepared for school and tend to get better grades later on if their parents make a habit of reading to them from a young age. One study from Harvard University found that the number of books in the home was the single biggest factor related to success in school, more than the education or income of the parents! Reading is fun, and it can be an important part of relaxing at bedtime. Best of all, it gives parents an opportunity to communicate with their children and teach them about the world. It’s never too earl y to start reading to your children. Many parents buy books for their kids long before they can talk, and some even start reading to their children before they are born! Trips to the library or the bookstore can be fun activities for young families to do t ogether. So parents, if you’re wondering what to do with your kids tonight, remember: all you need is a good book! That’s all for Modern Parenting. This is Lesley, on 105.7 FM, saying good night. 第一部分:听力(满分30分,每小题1.5分)

When I’m stressed,I usually do lots of weightlifting to get myself tired. Then I’ll have a good sleep. In this way,I’ll feel relaxed and forget all about my worries.附加题

2019-2020学年高三英语一模汇编--summary

2019--2020学年高三英语一模概要写作汇编 One【虹口区】 The Zeigarnik Effect Have you ever found yourself thinking about a partially finished project for school or work when you were trying to focus on other things? Or perhaps you wondered what would happen next in your favorite TV show or film series. If you have, you’ve experienced the Zeigarnik effect. You tend to remember unfinished tasks better than finished tasks. Knowledge of the Zeigarnik effect can be put into use in everyday life. The effect is especially well suited for helping overcome procrastination or delaying an action to a later time. We often put off big tasks that seem overwhelming. However, the Zeigarnik effect suggests that the key to overcoming procrastination is to just get started. The first step could be something small and seemingly insignificant. In fact, it’s probably best if it’s something fairly easy. The Zeigarnik effect can be useful for students who are studying for an exam. The effect tells us that breaking up study periods can actually improve recall. So instead of cramming for an exam all in one sitting, breaks should be scheduled in which the student focuses on something else. This will cause intrusive(侵入的) thoughts, enabling students to rehearse and consolidate the information that must be remembered, leading to better recall when they take the exam. The Zeigarnik effect also points to reasons why people may experience mental health problems. If an individual leaves important tasks incomplete, the intrusive thoughts that result can lead to stress, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, and emotional distress. Conversely, completing a task can give an individual a sense of accomplishment and lead to a feeling of closure that can improve psychological well-being. The Zeigarnik effect can actually be used to positively impact your work productivity. 【答案】 The Zeiguvnik Effect is that you always remember unfinished matter, which can be well used. The effect helps you overcome procrastination and have a good start. The effect is effective for students to improve recall and remember things better. It also encourage people to finish work and improve psychological well-being. It can influence us positively in all aspect. 【解析】 要点中需要包括:1.The Zeigarnik Effect的定义2.三个好处 容易出现的问题:主旨句不清晰;语言不够精炼。

In a world where ____31____ is given for people’s accomplishments, failing feels dangerous. The fear of failure can stop people taking risks that might lead to success. Heidi Grant Halvorson, a psychologist, points out much of success is ____32____ not on talent but on learning from your mistakes. About half of the people in the world hold that ability in an area --- be it creative or social skill --- is natural. The other half believes, instead, that someone might have a preference or something – say painting or speaking foreign languages – but this ability can be improved through ___33___ practice or training. It’s almost impossible to think rationally(理性地) while shouting at yourself, “I’m a failure”. But when you ___34___ your thinking, you will probably see what you can control –your behavior, your planning, your reactions – and change them. The primary ___35___ between successful people and unsuccessful people is that the successful people fail more. If you see failure as a monster approaching you, take another look. Success is as scary as failure. Researchers report that satisfaction grows on challenges. Think about it – a computer game you can always win is boring; one you can win ___36___, and with considerable effort, is fun. In pursuit of success, failure exposes areas that you need to ___37___.
