Ramen noodles are yellow noodles that originally came from China. They became a popular street food in Japan in the early 1900s. Then, after World War II, ramen became even more popular in Japan. At that time, Japan did not have much food at all. Ramen was cheap and good, so more and more people began eating it.

In the 1950s, Momofuku Ando, the man who started the Nissin food company in Japan, had an idea. He wanted to make dried ramen noodles. People could pour hot water over these noodles, wait a few minutes, and then eat them. It would be instant ramen! It was not easy, but finally Ando came up with a way to make instant ramen. Japanese people loved it! Soon other companies were copying Ando's idea. Not long after that, instant ramen spread to other countries.

Today, people all around the world enjoy ramen. In fact, people eat about 40 billion(十亿)bowls, cups, or packs of ramen every year!

But the story of ramen does not end there. Ramen is now moving from streets and instant bowls to good restaurants. All kinds of meats, vegetables, and spices(调味,香料)are being added to ramen. And people are choosing noodle bars over sushi bars for a nice dinner out these days.

So whether you want traditional, quick, or fancy ramen, you can find it. Just look on the street, in a store, or in a restaurant near you.

All ramen noodles are not the same. Two ways that noodles may differ are by type and shape.

Ramen noodles come in three types: fresh, dried, and instant. Fresh ramen noodles are made just before they are cooked. These kinds of noodles can be found in fancy ramen restaurants. These days, some food companies make fresh ramen noodles to sell in stores. These noodles can be found in stores where cold foods are kept. People who buy them should keep the noodles cold until they are ready to use them.

Dried and instant ramen noodles, on the other hand, can be kept for a long time on a kitchen shelf. They do not need to be kept cold. At first, it may be hard to tell the difference between dried ramen and instant ramen. Read store packages carefully. Dried ramen takes a little longer to cook than instant ramen.

There are several different shapes for ramen noodles. Most people think of long, thin, curly noodles as ramen. However, ramen. noodles can also be straight and fat or ribbon shaped. The straight ramen noodles are often found in thick soups. Thin, curly ramen noodles are used in thinner soups.

1.true false All ramen noodles have the same shape.

2.true false Fresh ramen noodles need to be kept cold.

3.true false People can buy fresh ramen noodles in stores.

4.true false Thin, curly noodles are not really ramen noodles at.all.

5.true false Straight ramen noodles are used in thin soups.

What percentage of people do you think are left-handed? They were all left-handed, along with other famous people including Pablo Picasso, Prince William, and Marilyn Monroe. In fact, an estimated 11 percent of Americans and Europeans are left-handed. Most people around the world are right-handed. This fact also seems to have held true throughout history. In 1977, scientists studied works of art made at various times in history starting with cave drawings from 15,000 B.C. and ending with paintings from the 1950s. Most of the people shown in these works of art are right-handed, so scientists guessed that right-handedness has always been common. Many researchers claim to have found relationships between left-handedness and various 1 and 2 characteristics, such as blond hair, blue eyes, 3 , and sleep difficulties. Other studies have found a higher-than-normal level of left-handed people in certain 4 , including professional baseball and tennis players, 5 , lawyers, as well as prisoners. However, some of these connections are very weak, and others haven’t been proven. What makes a person become right-handed rather than left-handed? As yet, no one really knows for sure. One simple idea suggests that people normally get right-handedness form their parents. Studies have found that two right-handed parents have only a 9.5 percent chance of having a left-handed child, whereas two left-handed parents have a 26 percent chance of having a left-handed child. Another common theory is that left-handed people suffer 6 brain 7

The first is the 173-meter-high Great Pyramid of Giza, the largest of all the pyramids in Egypt. The second is the Great Sphinx of Giza, a sculpture with the body of a lion and the head of a man, which stands 20 meters tall and 73 meters long. The origin of the Great Sphinx of Giza goes back 5,000 years, Although many sphinx sculptures have been found over the years, researchers believe that the Great Sphinx which guards the pyramids in Giza was actually the first one to be made (around 2600-2500B.C.). The head of the Sphinx represents Khafre, the Pharaoh who ruled Egypt at the time. About two thousand years later, around 570 B.C., sand had covered all but the head of the Great Sphinx. The people living in the area had forgotten the history of the statue, so they imagined that the head represented the sun god Ra and began worshiping it. The son, Thutmose, kept his word and did what he was told in the dream. He also built walls around the statue to prevent the sand from covering it again. After all of the sand was cleared away, Thutmose made a large stone tablet that told the story of his dream. He placed this tablet between the two front feet of the Sphinx, where it stands to this day. For hundreds of years, the Sphinx attracted people both as a religious monument and as a work of art. But eventually, the desert sand once again covered the Sphinx, leaving only
