I. Introduction

In traditional college English teaching, teachers can not take care of all levels of students,

especially in speaking and listening abilities, resulting in dumb English phenomenon is relatively common. This brings a great impact on students ’ English learning. And therefore changing the traditional teaching mode, focus on training the research capacity and communicative learning ability, enrich the form and content of English teaching is particularly urgent. Under this background, experiential English teaching model emerged.

The new media and new technology are extensively and profoundly influencing every aspect of the society in a various ways, but what about their applications in English education? It is a brand new topic to build the experiential learning environment and implement learning with mobile new media and new technology. At present, both teachers and students haven't paid enough attention to introducing mobile new media and new technology to teaching and learning. A very important reason is lack of relevant learning experience. In fact, experiential learning has a positive impact in promoting knowledge understanding, arousing learner's initiative and cultivating critical thinking.

In my opinion, hardware is only a foundation laying work. Learning how to better build experiential environment, how to design teaching and learning in order to give full play to the new media, the role of new technology in the students' practical ability and innovation consciousness is crucial.

Therefore, by new media, we can open up a new path to English education in line with the development of characteristics, starting from the perspective of experiential teaching,

II. Outline

2.1 The Background Theories

In this part I will describe the theories of communicative competence by D. Hymes and M, A. K. Halliday, which have led to a change of focus in English teaching. The theories show us the importance of culture teaching and that language and culture are intertwined, that it is not possible to teach a foreign language without teaching its culture.

2.2 The Relationship Between Language and Culture

I will discuss the relationship between language and culture in this part. What is culture? What is language? Is there diversity among cultures? How do language and culture interact?

2.3 Cultural Goals

In this part, I will discuss the cultural goals for Chinese students. Some advantage will possibly be shown in this study.

2.4 Teaching Culture in the English Classroom

In this part, I will discuss the content and methods of teaching culture in the English classroom.

2.5 Conclusion

From the above research we can naturally come to the conclusion that only by applying mehods enhancing transcultural communications and conducting research into English teaching methodology can we greatly stimulate the reform and development of English teaching.
