Step 1 Greetings

Greet the class.

Step 2 Lead-in

Play a song for all the students to sing along with“If you are happy”.

While singing,touch the part that is mentioned in the songs. (clap your hand,stomp your feet,wink your eye ).

Then sing the song,add up other parts——If you are happy and you know it shake your head,open your mouth,lift up your leg,lift up your arm… etc.

And the teacher shows the pictures about body parts on the blackboard.

Step 3 Presentation

T:OK,class,we know the body parts just now. They are altogether in one family,but I want to tell you that they can?t be friendly. They will have a fight sometimes. If you can?t believe,let?s watch the programm e…Body fight.

After the programme,ask the students:Now,do you know…Why do they fight? What are they fight for?

students:Who is important?

T:Good! Do you think who is the most important ? And tell me the reason,Why?

S1:Mouth,because I can?t eat to live without it.

T:What else can mouth do?

S1:Drink,speak English,sing songs,talk with my friends…

T:Everybody?s answers are very good. In fact,the body parts are in one family. The y can?t fight,they can help us do many things,They are all important. So,we should take care of them. But the body parts has some problems sometimes. Then the teacher shows a bandage and puts the bandage on the stomach,and asks:What?s the matter with me? I?m not feeling well. I have a stomachache. Then the teacher puts the bandage on another part of body and gets the students to guess the problems:have a toothache,have a headache…

Step 4 Pair work

The teacher puts the bandage on the part of a student?s body and ask:What?s the matter? and guide him to use the pattern:I have a/an… Then asks the students to work in pairs and talk a bout health problems by using the bandage and using the target languages:What?s the matter? I have a/ an… Later act them out in the class.

After several pairs,the teacher chooses one pair and ask other students:What?s the matter with her? students:She has a headache. Then the teacher ask some students to show the health problems with the body language,and ask other students to have conversations in pairs.

Step 8 Act out

2d T:Do you want to be a docto r to help others? Do you go to see a doctor when you aren?t healthy? Today,I give you a chance,now,suppose you are a doctor,and your group members are your patients. Step 1 Greetings

Greet the class as usual.

Step 2 Revision

Ask the students to act out as many dialogues about health as possible in pairs.

Step 3 Discussion

Show the picture of an old man lying on the side of the road and ask the students to guess what happened? Help the students to answer:Maybe he was seriously ill. He may be knocked down by a car. … Then ask them:If you meet with this situation,what will you do? Ask them to discuss in groups. Then ask some students to report their answers.

Step 4 Reading

Say:Read the passage please and answer the questions:How did the bus driver and passengers do with the old man? Do you think it comes from a newspaper or a book? How do you know? After several minutes,ask some students to report their answers.

3b Then get the students to read the passage again and check the things that happened in the story.

Step 5 Pair work

Work in pairs and discuss the questions in 3c. Then ask some students to report their answers.

Step 8 Guessing game

Step 2 Revision

Ask some groups to practice the dialogue in 4c.

Step 3Presentation

Say:Accidents or problems can sometimes happen when we do sports. Write the letter of each sport next to each accident or problem that can happen. After checking the answers,show the picture of Aron and say:Aron Falston is an American climber. There were many times when Aron almost lost his life because of accidents. On April 26,2003,he found himself in a very dangerous situation when climbing in Utah. So what happened to him? Look at the title of the passage and guess what happened? Ask some students to report their guessing.

Step 4 Reading

Now let?s read the passage. Please read carefully and after reading,please answer the questions in 2d. Give the students several minutes to read and then ask some students to answer the questions.

Step 5 Pair work

Read the passage again and then work in pairs to put the sentences in 2e in the correct order.

Then use them to tell Aron?s story to your partner. Try to add other details from the reading. After some time,ask some students to retell the story in front of the class.

Step 6 Reading

Read the passage again and try to finish the two tasks:

1. Read the statements in 2c and circle True,False or Don?t know.

2. Underline the words you don?t know and look up the words in a dictionary and write down their meanings. Then ask some students to report their answers.

Step 7 Discussion

Show some pictures of accidents in life and say:Like Aron?s story,there are always some accidents in our daily life. Look at the pictures and discuss in groups what you should do when these accidents happen. Ask some students to report their answers. Then finish the exercise in 1a by themselves.

Step 8 Listening

1b, Listen to the school nurse. Check the problems you hear.

1c, Listen again. Write the letter of each treatment next to the problems you checked in the chart above.

Step 9 Practice

1d Role-play a conversation between the nurse and the teacher. Use the information in 1b and 1c.

Then ask some pairs to act out their dialogues.

Finally remind the students to pay attention to their safety in life and always be careful. When accidents happen,don?t be panic. Be calm and take correct actions to help themselves.

Step 10 Homework

Show a short video about some students doing volunteer work to help others,and ask the students to report their opinion about volunteer work. Then work in groups to talk about more about it.

Show some sentences on the screen and ask the students to guess the meanings of the new words. Have a little competition to look at who is the first one to speak out all the new words correctly. They?d better translate the whole sentence.
