Teaching Aims:

3. Moral object: It’s a good habit to go to bed early in the evening and get up early in the morning. So you’ll never be in a hurry in the morning. And try to be a careful person and do everything carefully.

Teaching procedures

Step1:activity 1a,(the activity introduces new vocabulary which can be used to narrate past events)

1、revise what the past participle form of a verb(it is the same as the past form for a regular verb) and tell them to remember the irregular verbs’ participles one by one after school.

2、show the phrase: by the time…….

And show them some sentences with several pictures about the Past Perfect tense..

Let students understand what the Past Perfect tense is!

Show them the structure of the Past Perfect tense (had﹢动词的过去分词)

3、Discuss these questions in a group, then ask some students to answer.(some pictures)

① What do you usually do in the morning before school

② Do you like mornings? Why or why not?

4、 Call the students’to the pictures in Activity 1a and ask them to tell what they see.

She overslept/slept a long time

Someone was taking a shower

The bus left

She had to run to school quickly

She left her backpack at home (students repeat these sentences) Step2: activity 1b,(listening: the activity gives students practice in understanding the target languages in spoken conversation)

1、 Ask the students to read the instructions and have them look at the chart.

2、 Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen. Then play it a second time. This time, students listen and complete the sentences.

3、 Check the answers by asking some students to tell their answers.

4、 Students read these sentences

Step3: activity 1c,(pair work: the activity provides guided oral practice using the target language.)

1、Ask students to read the listening material at page 134.

2、Ask some students to narrate the past events to the class (Tina’s bad morning)

3、Give a sample answer and ask them to read it aloud.

Step4:activity 2a (listening practice)

1、Tell students that Tina had a bad morning. But something worse happened to Tina later. What happened to Tina later in the morning?

2、Call the students’ attention to the four pictures and get them to guess the correct order of the pictures first. Then ask one or two students to describe the four pictures

3、play the recording like activity 1b. then check the answers with the class. Step5:activity 2b (the activity gives students practice in understanding and writing the target language)

1、Ask the students to read the instructions. Point out the blanks in the sentences and the verbs in the brackets

2、Give these verbs in the brackets different forms

eg, ge t→got→gotten

realize→realized→realized

leave→left→left

ring→rang→rung

walk→walked→walked

start→started→started

3、Let the students try filling in the blanks with the correct forms individually.

4、 After they all finish writing, play the recording again and then check their answers.

Step6: group work (the activity gives students writing practice)

1、 ask them to work with a partner or others and make up an ending for the story . The beginning has been given.

2、 ask some students to read their writing to class. Then given them an sample answer.

Step7: grammar focus (the activity introduces the target language of the unit.)

1、 read these sentences.

2、 introduce the Past Perfect tense and how to use the tense simply.

3、 show the three forms of the verbs used in this unit.
