Unit 8 Pets

Reading ( I)

教学目标

1.Learn about rhyme schemes, stress and intonation of poetry.

2.Learn new vocabulary to talk about pets.

3.Read about animal behaviour.

教学内容

1.Words: poem, wide, hunt, hide, camp, stick, bark, bite, fight.

2.Phrases: the cleverest animal, till the end, with eyes open wide, feed her much, do amazing things, run after, look around for.

3.Sentences:

My dog is the cleverest animal of all.

Builds me camps out of sticks.

重点难点

1.Learn about rhyme schemes, stress and intonation of poetry.

2.Write a simple poem.

教学准备

Multimedia, computer, tape-recorder.

教学过程

Step 1. Greetings

Step 2. Review

1.给我带些吃的。_______________

Step 3. Preview

1.每天一次带你的狗散步是很有必要的。

Step4. Lead-in

1.T: We talked about pets last time. Some of you told me the pets you like. Today ,I’ll tell you the pet I like. Can you guess what they are?

2.Let students guess the pet that the teacher likes and why the teacher likes it.

Step 5. Presentation

1.Ask students to study the poems and pictures on Page 94.

2.T:Do you know why I would like a dog to be my pet?

First, dogs are lovely. They like to chase things so they can play with me outside.

Second, they are so clever that they can do lots of wonderful tricks.

Third, they can help hunter in the wild.

3.Read “My Dog” and have students repeat after you.

4.Discuss with students:

Does a goldfish fight? ( Yes, I think she may fight for food.)

Does a goldfish need a bed? (No, she doesn’t.)

Does a goldfish eat much? (No, she doesn’t. She will die if she eats too much.)

5.What a quiet goldfish! She doesn’t bark and she doesn’t miaow. She just bubbles, bubbles. She

is not any trouble.

6.Ask students to find the adjectives in the poem which tell us about its characteristics.

7.Play the tape again and like for the rhyming pairs. Then finish the exercises in Part B1 on Page 95.

8.Listen again and find out the rhyme schemes.

Step 6. Practice

Step 7. Homework

Finish the exercises in workbook.
