英语作文

Should a nation require all its students to study the same national curriculum before they enter college? The answer is positive. All schools are supposed to set same courses, especially some foundational courses. However, schools could also set courses according to the characteristics of their schools, their students and their local culture.

Admittedly, the same courses provide a relatively equitable way to assess students not only for teachers but also for students themselves. As is known to all, the national courses is the premise to a unitive standard and testing and assessment contents. Thus, teachers, parents and students are likely to know the grade of students at the same level nationwide; in this way, teachers can adjust teaching methods. Also, if schools are not supposed to set the same courses, all the schools in the nation may have totally different courses. Under such circumstance, one top student in this city may become a poor student in another city because he never studies all the courses in different schools.

In addition, the national standardized courses can, to a large degree, erase the difference of educational resources in different parts of the nation. By setting national courses, at least the curriculums which are more complete and systematic designs will be the same all around the nation; in this case, the situation that some regions are unable to offer these curriculums due to poor educational resource is less likely to occur. Take myself for example. My primary school, lying in a remote mountainous area, set English courses when I studied there; however, our score was awful because the English teachers taught us at their will without a basic guideline in this course. Things changes when I went bake to my primary school last year. With appropriate courses designs and teaching programmes, although students still stay in remote schools, they make progress in English lerning.

However, it is also necessary for schools to determine some courses in order to cultivate students’ interest and expand their horizon. As the saying goes, interest is the best teacher; schools have the responsibility to cultivate students’interest. So it’s significant for schools to set distinctive courses; in this way, students have more choices for their interesting courses.

On school level, different courses make the school more distinctive, adding diversity to education system. Schools in different regions are able to determine some courses according to their own peculiarity through the full use of local resource and environmental advantages. For instance, in Shanghai, a well-developed city in economy, schools could try to set some courses about economy while schools in north of China, such as Shaanxi, may set some courses about traditional culture.

Setting the same courses could provide a fair way to assess students and reduce the difference in education. However, to always follow the same courses will ignore the characteristics of schools and students and weaken the diversity of education. As a result, schools are supposed to follow the national coerces and set distinctive courses.

Reasoning and logical thinking play a critical role in studying, so there is no wonder why some educational systems emphasize students’capacity for it. However, nowadays an increasing number of people think highly of emotional education. It’s true that students benefit a great deal from emotional education, but we cannot say students acquire more from emotional education than from reasoning and logical thinking. Both of them are significant and the educational systems are supposed to treat them equally.

On the individual level, people know how to communicate with others and acquire a better attitude to life with the help of emotional education. During the daily life, people not only need to reasoning and judge but also have to communicate with others in order to not feel solitary in the society. People learn communication from emotional education while emotional education also teaches people how to find out the bright side of life. For example, if a boy always fights with others, argues with others and refuse to chat with other, he will become alone at time passes. However, if he gets proper emotional education he could know how to communicate with other and has a better attitude to face the misfortune in life, which leads to a eudemonic life.

On the society level, emotional education makes the society more harmonious. The society consists of individuals and individuals grasp a right way to communicate with each other with the help of emotional education, which makes the society more harmonious with the development of economy and technology. It’s believable that people won’t be felicific when they live in a well-developed society without emotional communication.

However, we cannot deny that the capacity for reasoning and logical thinking is the foundation of learning, which teaches students how to study, and how to make right decision. In today's highly developed societies, people demand the knowledge of emotion and also grasp the skills about study, making decision and solving problem. It’s clear that people learn these skills after they receive reasoning and logical education; only when they learn the correct way can they remain invincible.

Emotional education makes people living in a meaningful life while reasoning and logical thinking tell people how to judge and study. The educational system will become more complete only when they combine emotional and reasoning and logical thinking education.
