Step 1. Warming up

Sing a poem. Rain, rain, go away.

Step 2.Task-setting

T: Hello, boys and girls. Have you been to Beijing? Today we’re going to visit the Ming Tombs. Do you know the Ming Tombs?

Ask the students to talk about the Ming Tombs in Chinese.

今天,Miss Huang要和小朋友们一起去参观the Ming Tombs,并评选优秀小导游。

Step 3. Presenting and drilling

1)T: Today we’re going to visit the Ming Tombs. Where are we going today?

Ss: We are going to visit the Ming Tombs.

Read the words: tomb, the Ming Tombs, we’re going to visit the Ming Tombs.

T: Come on, children. Hurry up. But what are we going to see there?

T: There are lots of tombs there. Why is it called the Ming Tombs?

Ss: …

T: Because it was built in Ming dynasty. And there are lots of tombs.

So it is called the Ming Tombs.

Read the sentences: There are lots of tombs.

2)(看视频)T: Please watch the VCD. This is the Ming Tombs.

T: What did you see?

Ss: Lots of animals.

Ss: (引导其余的学生说)There are lots of stone animals.(read the sentence)

How many stone animals are there? Do you know?

Ss: There are 24.

Ss: (引导其余的学生说)There are 24 stone animals.

Read the sentence: There are 24 stone animals.

T: What are they?

Ss: There are elephants.

Ss: There are lions.

Ss: There are camels.

Ss: There are horses.

T: Yes. There are lions, camels, elephants and horses.

Read the sentence.

T: And scary animals, too. There are some monsters.

Look, what is that?

Ss: It’s a monster.

T: Anything else? (show the card) Look, there is a path.

Read the sentence.

T: It’s very famous. (read the word: famous)

Make the sentence with the word: famous

S1: Yao Ming is very famous…

T: There is a pagoda. (show the card)

T: There is a tower.

T: Now I’m a tourist guide. Come on children, hurry up.

Ss: Where are we going, Ms Huang?

T: We are going to visit the Ming Tombs.

Ss: What are you going to see there?

T: There are lots of tombs. There are 24 stone animals.

There are lions, camels, elephants and horses.

There is a path, it’s very famous. There is a pagoda, and there is a tower.

Step 4. Fulfill the task

1) Discuss the trip plan in groups about the trip.

2) Ask some students to choose the tourist guide.

Step 5. Feedback

Ss make a self-assessment.

Step 6. Homework.

a. Listen and repeat, then record the text.

b. Talk about the trip about the Ming Tombs.
