It is your strength.

The art of living is to know when to hold fast and when to let go. For life is a paradox: it enjoins us to cling to its many gifts even while it ordains their eventual relinquishment. The rabbis of old put it this way: “A man comes to this world with his fist clenched, but when he dies, his hand is open.”

Surely we ought to hold fast to life, for it is wondrous, and full of a beauty that breaks through every pore of God’s own earth. We know that this is so, but all too often we recognize this truth only in our backward glance when we remember what was and then suddenly realize that it is no more.

We remember a beauty that faded, a love that waned. But we remember with far greater pain that we did not see that beauty when it flowered, that we failed to respond with love when it was tendered.

Here then is the first pole of life’s paradoxical demands on us: Never too busy

for the wonder and the awe of life. Be reverent before each dawning day. Embrace each hour. Seize each golden minute.

Hold fast to life... but not so fast that you cannot let go. This is the second side of life’s coin, the opposite pole of its paradox: we must accept our losses, and learn how to let go.

This is not an easy lesson to learn, especially when we are young and think that the world is ours to command, that whatever we desire with the full force of our passionate being can, nay, will, be ours. But then life moves along to confront us with realities, and slowly but surely this truth dawns upon us.

At every stage of life we sustain losses—and grow in the process. We begin our independent lives only when we emerge from the womb and lose its protective shelter. We enter a progression of schools, then we leave our mothers and fathers and our childhood homes. We get married and have children and then have to let them go. We confront the death of our parents and our spouses. We face the gradual or not so gradual waning of our strength. And ultimately, as the parable of the open and closed hand suggests, we must confront the inevitability of our own demise, losing ourselves as it were, all that we were or dreamed to be.

A young man was getting ready to graduate from college. For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer's showroom, and knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.

As Graduation Day approached, the young man awaited signs that his father had purchased the car. Finally, on the morning of his graduation, his father called him into his private study. His father told him how proud he was to have such a fine son, and told him how much he loved him. He handed his son a beautiful wrapped gift box. Curious, but somewhat disappointed, the young man opened the box and found a lovely, leather-bound Bible, with the young man's name embossed in gold. Angrily, he raised his voice to his father and said, "With all your money you give me a Bible?" He then stormed out of the house, leaving the Bible.

Many years passed and the young man was very successful in business. He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family, but realizing his father was very old, he thought perhaps he should go to see him. He had not seen him since that graduation day. Before he could make the arrangements, he received a telegram telling him his father had passed away, and willed all of his possessions to his son. He needed to come home immediately and take care of things.

When he arrived at his father's house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart. He began to search through his father's important papers and saw the still new Bible, just as he had left it years ago. With tears, he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages. As he was reading, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible. It had a tag with the dealer's name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired. On the tag was the date of his graduation, and the words... "PAID IN FULL".

How many times do we miss blessings because they are not packaged as we expected? Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; but remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.

Sometimes we don't realize the good fortune we have or we could have because we expect "the packaging" to be different. What may appear as bad fortune may in fact be the door that is just waiting to be opened.

“There are two primary choices in life: to accept conditions as they exist, or accept responsibility for changing them.” ~Denis Waitley

Catch the star that holds your destiny the one that forever twinkles in your heart.

Hope is always more expect, engrave a bone is a fat lot looked Clear can touch, just don t know where end is. Can not find to come to the road of hour, just because of eying foot too very carefully.

Then the wandering soul wild crane stands still the memory river Listen to whistle play tightly ring slowly, Water rises a ship to go medium long things of the past. Wait for a ship’s person Wait for one and other, But hesitate always should ascend which ship Missed Had to consign the hope to next time, Finally what to wait for until has no boats and ships to come and go, Sunset west .

All of us may suffer with depression and frustration, lose guidance and support, need aids physically, emotionally, or spiritually.

Happiness is so much simple, on your center of palm, a match a hand can grasp; Happiness is also very difficult, before your heel, A thousand mountains and rivers but blunder away because of Doing not turn a head

In others’ eyes, you are always “the funny one” and became loud and overconfident to mask what I was actually feeling, but few people know about the way you felt.

I need to stop feeling so sorry for myself and actually want to change. I am an incredibly lucky person who have come from a family who love and support my whole life.

The important thing to remember is that our problems aren’t what define us. What defines us is how we deal with what has happened to us; how we change the way we think about it.

The greatest gifts in life are not purchased but acquired through hard work and determination.

You are capable of making your brightest dreams come true.

Give your hopes everything you’ve got and you will catch the star that holds your destiny.

Self-disciplined people are not all outstanding people. But nearly all outstanding people are self-disciplined people.

Some of them keep reading everyday. Some of them never get late.

The real difference between an elite and the ordinary people is that an elite can manage himself.

And that's where their success comes from.

What people call self-management is in fact self-discipline.

If you want to get slim, you need to manage your appetite.

If you want to succeed, you need to manage your heart.

So set your goal and write down your reasons for them.

Establish a list for your daily work and life, and excute them out without mercy.

This is not sacrificing your freedom. This is freedom.

Only in self-discipline can you stop being a slave of all the trivial things in your life.

Only in self-discipline can you truly own your future.

If you suddenly get old tomorrow, would you feel regret when you look back at your life?

Or would you feel that your life is worth it?

Or you have never thought about this kind of things?

If you ask somebody what the meaning of life is,

a thousand different people will give you a thousand different answers.

But for me, the answer is happiness.

Doing what I like in places that I enjoy.

These things are not only beneficial for myself. They are also making this society better.

Controlling my own pace like this may not have given me a wealthy life. But it has been giving me satisfaction day by day.

And I feel that life gets better everyday.

And at the same time, I have become a person that people enjoy.

And a person who people enjoy is a person who treats life as he treats his first true love.

Being sociable can mean many things.

But in some aspects, there is only one criteria in judging whether one is sociable or not. And that is whether this person can understand how other people think or not.

When some people talk with others, they'll fall into silence after a few sentences.

They want to find something to talk about but don't know what to say.

And if this kind of things happen too often, some of them will start to avoid communicating with others. And some of them even start to doubt if they are incapable in communicating.

And there is another kind of people. When they talk with other people, after a while, the people who they talk to will become not so happy.

This is not because they are too emotional.

This problem comes from us.

It's because we cannot understand the change in their emotion. It's because we cannot understand the implication they give out.

And thus we entered the dangerous zone in their hearts and created a barrier between us and them.

You should stand in other people's shoes.

You should see from other people's point of view when you talk to them.

When you can understand what people want to say, you'll know what to say to them.

This is the true sociability.

This is the kind of communication that brings people closer.

87 Every day is a lucky day I teach economics at UNLV three times per week. Last Monday, at the beginning of class, I cheerfully asked my students how their weekend had been. One young man said that his weekend had not been so good. He had his wisdom teeth removed. The young man then proceeded to ask me why I always seemed to be so cheerful. His question reminded me of something I'd read somewhere before: "Every morning when you get up, you have a choice about how you want to approach life that day," I said. "I choose to be cheerful." "Let me give you an example," I continued, addressing all sixty students in the class. "In addition to teaching here at UNLV, I also teach out at the community college in Henderson, 17 miles down the freeway from where I live. One day a few weeks ago I drove those 17 miles to Henderson. I exited the freeway and turned onto College Drive. I only had to drive another quarter mile down the road to the college. But just then my car died. I tried to start it again, but the engine wouldn't turn over. So I put my flashers on, grabbed my books, and marched down the road to the college." "As soon as I got there I called AAA and arranged for a tow truck to meet me at my car after class. The secretary in the Provost's office asked me what has happened. 'This is my lucky day,' I replied, smiling." " 'Your car breaks down and today is your lucky day?' She was puzzled. 'What do you mean?'" " 'I live 17 miles from here.' I replied. 'My car could have broken down anywhere along the freeway. It didn't. Instead, it broke down in the perfect place: off the freeway, within walking distance of here. I'm still able to teach my class, and I've been able to arrange for the tow truck to meet me after class. If my car was meant to break down today, it couldn't have been arranged in a more convenient fashion.'" "The secretary's eyes opened wide, and then she smiled. I smiled back and headed for class." So ended my story. I scanned the sixty faces in my economics class at UNLV. Despite the early hour, no one seemed to be asleep. Somehow, my story had touched them. Or maybe it wasn't the story at all. In fact, it had all started with a student's observation that I was cheerful.

The Historical Significance of American Revolution The ways of history are so intricate and the motivations of human actions so complex that it is always hazardous to attempt to represent events covering a number of years, a multiplicity of persons, and distant localities as the expression of one intellectual or social movement; yet the historical process which culminated in the ascent of Thomas Jefferson to the presidency can be regarded as the outstanding example not only of the birth of a new way of life but of nationalism as a new way of life. The American Revolution represents the link between the seventeenth century, in which modern England became conscious of itself, and the awakening of modern Europe at the end of the eighteenth century. It may seem strange that the march of history should have had to cross the Atlantic Ocean, but only in the North American colonies could a struggle for civic liberty lead also to the foundation of a new nation. Here, in the popular rising against a "tyrannical" government, the fruits were more than the securing of a freer constitution. They included the growth of a nation born in liberty by the will of the people, not from the roots of common descent, a geographic entity, or the ambitions of king or dynasty. With the American nation, for the first time, a nation was born, not in the dim past of history but before the eyes of the whole world.

As a teenager,I felt I was always letting people down. I was rebellious out-side,but I wanted to be liked inside. Once I left home to hitch-hike2 to California with my friend Penelope. The trip wasn?t easy, and there were many times I didn?t feel safe. One situation in particular kept me grateful to still be alive. When I returned home,I was different, not so outwardly sure of myself. I was happy to be home. But then I noticed that Penelope, who was staying with us,was wearing my clothes. And my family seemed to like her better than me. I wondered if I would be missed if I weren?t there. I told my mom,and she explained that though Penelope was a lovely girl,no one could replace me. I pointed out,“She is more patient and is neater than I have ever been.”My mom said these were wonderful qualities, but I was the only person who could fill my role. She made me realize that even with my faults—and there were many-I was a loved member of the family who couldn?t be replaced. I became a searcher, wanting to find out who I was and what made me unique. My view of myself was changing. I wanted a solid base to start from. I started to resist3 pressure to act in ways that I didn?t like any more, and I was delighted by who I really was. I came to feel much more sure that no one can ever take my place. Each of us holds a unique place in the world. You are special,no matter what others say or what you may think. So forget about being replaced. You can’t be. If you put a buzzard1) in a pen2) six to eight feet square and entirely open at the top, the bird, in spite of its ability to fly, will be an absolute prisoner. The reason is that a buzzard always begins a flight from the ground with a run of ten to twelve feet. Without space to run, as is its habit, it will not even attempt3) to fly, but remain a prisoner for life in a small jail with no top. The ordinary bat that flies around at night, who is a remarkable nimble4) creature in the air, cannot take off from a level place. If it is placed on the floor or flat ground, all it can do is to shuffle5) about helplessly and, no doubt, painfully, until it reaches some slight elevation6) from which it can throw itself into the air. Then, at once, it takes off like a flash. A bumblebee7) if dropped into an open tumbler8) will be there until it dies, unless it is taken out. It never sees the means of escape at the top, but persists9) in trying to find some way out through the sides near the bottom. It will seek a way where none exists, until it completely destroys itself. In many ways, there are lots of people like the buzzard, the bat and the bumblebee. They are struggling about with all their problems and frustrations10), not realizing that the answer is right there above them.

It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the Earth, it has no time to flow down the spout. We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We all waited, some patiently, others irritated, because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens w ashing away the dirt and dust of the world. Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome reprieve from the worries of my day. Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, "Mom, let's run through the rain." she said. "What?"

Have you ever thought about what your own personality is like? If you are asked to describe yourself with three words, which three words would you choose? Or, do you actually have no idea what your own personality is like? Are you actually a person with no personality? But then again, is personality really so important? Kenya Hara, a leading design personality in Japan, once said: The value of personality, as well as the explicit expression of likes and dislikes, have been unnecessarily overestimated. It is a good thing that we live in a society where all people are free to express their desires. But freedom can also bring confusion. What some people are really seeking is not to enjoy the freedom itself, but to force others to see their freedom. For example, “I want to eat Mac Donald’s” and “Mac Donald’s will do mean to eat Mac Donald’s. But it seems that the former embodies a person’s independence, while the la reflects the lack of assertiveness. However, is this really necessary? Is one’s daily performance of independence with a variety of acts not an
