MySpace, the social networking website, is different from other websites

which only provide stories about other people. MySpace is a place that allows you

to broadcast your own stories and personal information to as many people as you

like. Started two years ago, it is a big source of information for and about

American kids.

“Your profile on MySpace shows all your personal information to anyone

on the Web. And MySpace even lists this information by birthplace and age. It’s

like a free checklist for trouble-makers and it endangers children,” Buchanan said.

In what now seems like the prehistoric times of computer history, the earth’s

over the world from man one day. Already today, less than forty years later, as

computers are relieving us of more and more of the routine tasks in business and

in our personal lives, we are faced

Questioning and routine double-checks must continue to be as much a part of

Passage Three

We find that bright children are rarely held back by mixed ability teaching.

On the contrary, both their knowledge and experience are enriched. We feel that

there are many disadvantages in streaming (把…按能力分班) pupils. It does not

take into account the fact that children develop at different rates. It can have a bad

effect on both the bright and the not-so-bright child. After all, it can be quite

discouraging to be at the bottom of the top grade!

Sometimes the pupils work in pairs; sometimes they work on individual

tasks and assignments, and they can do this at their own speed. They also have

some formal class teaching when this is appropriate. We encourage our pupils to use the library, and we teach them the skills they need in order to do this efficiently. An advanced pupil can do advanced work: it does not matter what age the child is. We expect our pupils to do their best, not their least, and we give them every encouragement to attain this goal.

1. In the passage the author’s attitude towards “mixed-ability teaching” is ________.

2. By “held back” (Line 1) the author means “________”.

Every afternoon, therefore, he would go along to the shop and read a little of the book at a time. One day, however, he was disappointed to find the book missing from its usual place. He was about to leave, when he noticed the owner of the shop beckoning to him. Expecting to be told off, he went towards him. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has announced

plans to return people to the moon by 2018. “And this time,” according to a

NASA press release, “we’re going to stay.”

NASA wants to make a new spaceship for the missions using parts from the

Apollo program, which first took people to the moon in 1969, and the space

shuttle. NASA says the new Crew Exploration Vehicle (CEV) will be “affordable,

reliable, and sage.”

The CEV will be able to hold four astronauts. The plan is to have the CEV

dock (对接) in space with the lunar lander — the vehicle astronauts will use to

land on the moon — which will be launched separately into space. The CEV will

then travel to the moon and all four astronauts will walk on the moon.

The first moon missions are expected to last up to seven days. Exploration

and construction of a moon base will be the astronauts’ top priorities(最优先考虑

Let children learn to judge their own work. A child learning to talk does not

learn by being corrected all the time: if corrected too much, he will stop talking.

He notices a thousand times a day the difference between the language he uses

and the language those around him use. Bit by bit, he makes the necessary

changes to make his language like other people’s. In the same way, children

learning to do all the other things they learn to do without being taught—to walk,

run, climb, whistle, ride a bicycle—compare their own

Let them get on with this job in the way that seems most sensible to them, with our help as school teachers if they ask for it. The idea that there is a body of knowledge to be learnt at school and used for the rest of one’s life is nonsense in a world as complicated and rapidly changing as ours. Teaching involves more than leadership. Some of the teacher’s time and effort is directed toward instruction, some toward evaluation. But it is the teacher as a group leader who creates an efficient organizational structure and good working environment so that instruction and evaluation activities can take place.

A group that is totally disorganized, unclear about its goals, or constantly fighting among its members will not be a good learning group. The leadership pattern includes helping to form and maintain a positive learning environment so that instruction and evaluation activities can take place.

No matter how skillful the teacher is in uniting students and establishing a positive atmosphere, the task is never complete. Regular maintenance is necessary. Conflicts arise. The needs of individual members change. A new kind of learning task requires a new organizational structure. Sometimes outside pressure such as holidays, upcoming tests or athletic contests, or family troubles cause stress in the classroom. One task for the teacher is to restore a positive environment by helping students cope with conflict, change, and stress. 1. This article is written mainly for the purpose of ______.

根据以上分析我们来观察一下A、B、C、D四个答案,A、C、D是错误的,答案是B。
