Mona Elizabeth Simpson was born on June 14, 1957 in Green Bay, Wisonsin, USA. Her mother had given birth to a boy before getting married to her father. This boy, who had been placed for adoption, later grew up to be Apple Inc. CEO and co-founder, Steve Jobs. She studied at Beverly Hills High School and then attended University of California and Columbia University. In 1993, she married TV writer and producer Richard Appel. The couple had two kids, Gabriel and Grace, before getting divorced.

Mona Simpson is a famous American novelist. She served as an editor for the Paris Review when she was a student at Columbia university. Her first novel was Anywhere but Here, which was released in 1986. This Whiting Award winning novel was a huge success and was even adapted as a movie later on. The sequel(续集) of the novel, titled The Lost Father, came out in 1992. After this, Simpson published her third novel A Regular Guy. This novel described the strained(紧张的) relationship between a father and his daughter. Then in 2000, the author’s fourth novel titled Off Keck Road got published, which told the story of three ladies in the Midwest.

In 2001, she started teaching creative writing at the University of California, Los Angeles. She was also appointed as a professor at the Bard College around this time.

Millions of Americans sit behind a computer screen, chained to their desk all day because the vast majority of stable, high-paying professions(职业) are “office jobs”. However, having a successful career does not require you to sit behind a desk and plug away at a computer all day.

In fact, there are a large number of non-desk jobs in a variety of industries that are growing and offering workers a direct path to the middle class, according to a new analysis of labor market information from CareerBuilder. While most of the highest- paying non-desk jobs are medical professions that require a doctoral or professional degree, there are 170 non-desk professions that pay $15 per hour or more, do not require a bachel or’s degree for a typical entry-level position, and have seen at least 6 percent job growth over the last four years.

“The US workforce has gradually changed to office-based work because of the rise of the professional service economy and productivity gains associated with information technology,” Rosemary Haefner, Vic e President of Human Resources Officer at CareerBuilder, said in a statement. “But some of the healthiest areas of job growth year after year are in middle-skill professions that don’t requir e workers to sit in front of computer monitors and phones for 40 hours a week.”

Here are the top-paying jobs that don’t require you to work at a desk in various kinds, none of which require a four-year college degree and their hourly salary(工资) and growth rate since 2010: professional assistants: $26.57, 14 percent; elevator repairers: $37.81, 6 percent; mechanical engineering technicians: $25.19, 10 percent; and electromechanical(电动机械的) technicians: $24.68, 8 percent.

白蒲中学和如皋一中学习心得体会 张丹丹 2016年6月11日至日,在学校的精心组织安排下,我们一行出发奔赴如皋市的重点高中白蒲中学和如皋一中进行了为期一周的学习。期间观摩了课堂教学、了解了他们的班级管理制度以及小组合作情况,并与授课教师交流互动,参与了部分学科的集体备课和教研活动。这次学习,我深受启发,下面主要谈谈我在如皋参观学习后的两点感受: 、勤勤恳恳的班级管理 在白蒲中学三天的学习过程,让我感触很深,我对该校的班主任老师产生了深深的敬意,他们敬业、负责、热情和积极的工作态度和工作方式感染了我,也给我自己的班主任工作带来了很大的启发。 该校班主任工作的辛苦程度之大,让人感动。早上点分学生进入教室开始早自习,很多班主任老师也到了教室,和语文或英语老师一起陪伴学生早读。早饭之后,每天都有分钟的早会时间,班主任老师利用这个时间处理班级事物,鼓励激发学生的学习斗志。我看到很多的班主任老师在上午和下午的大课间时间,也经常进班看着学生学习。学生在这种监督和陪伴下,即使课间也很少下位,除了上厕所就是在座位上学习,整个校园在任何时候都听不到学生的喧哗之声,也很少看到学生在教室外玩闹的身影,在学校里,我所能听到的声音,最多的就是郎朗的读书声。该校老师课务繁重,但是班主任老师在完成教学任务的同时,愿意付出更多的心血和时间来进行班级管理,让人敬佩。 很多班主任老师不仅勤勤恳恳,而且十分用心。在白蒲中学我听到一位姓顾的老师的班会课,非常精彩,给我印象最深的是他想方设法激励学生的学习斗志。首先从班级文化建设就能看到该老师的用心程度,在他的班级的前后左右的墙面上都布置着激励学生的项目,例如墙的设置,每个学生都要列出自己的考试的目标分数和竞争对手,每个学期白蒲中学都要进行次比较主要的考试,墙上会用不同的标志反映出每个学生是否达成了自己的目标和击败了竞争对手。此外,教室还布置有“期待墙”、“贡献之星”、“之星”、“之星”、“学习之星”、“语文之星”、“数学之星”、“外语之星”、“进步之星”等栏目。学生每天在这样充满竞争和动力的氛围下学习,对于激励学生严于律己,做事坚持不懈,很实用。学校充分利
