How to Keep Your Procrastination Away

Good afternoon, everybody. My name is Louise, today my topic is about How to Keep Your Procrastination Away.

In our daily life, if we have some work to do today, we often put it off for a while because of our laziness. Sometimes it’s not a bad thing. But in some cases, for example, watch TV or play games, and waiting to write homework until the night before it is due. That's not simply laziness, that's more likely a disease, which we call it procrastination.

A research made by China Youth Daily showed that more than half of us have procrastination obviously. The cause of procrastination can be mainly classified into two points, one is “dislike” and the other is “difficulties”. "Dislike" can c ause resistance and delays. The "difficulties" type often occurs in learning or working. You might find that you just can’t find the time to finish it, which is actually a time management problem.

For the procrastination caused by the "dislike" type, you can reduce this sensation by following advices.

First, get up and move.

One of the best ways to overcome procrastination is to change your scenery. Rather than sit in front of your computer or TV all day, get up, do some exercise, or drink water, until your frame of mind has changed.

Second, set up reminders.

Setup a daily reminder that you should be working on something or at least not wasting your time. You can also set up reminders that give you motivational quotes.

Third, Get a motivation buddy

There is nothing like having someone on your side when it comes to making your goals a reality. If you start to slip into

procrastination, your motivation buddy will get you back in the game.

The last one, Make yourself accountable

You can do this with people around you or even with your motivation buddy above. A great way is to announce your change publicly. Hit the social networks, your blog and so on, which can make yourself more accountable to finish work.

For those caused by the “difficulties” type of resistance,

firstly, you can start your day off with a “to do” list including your most important tasks. If you have large or particularly difficult tasks, break them down into smaller and more manageable pieces. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.

Second, focus on start

This will get you moving and as you complete the smaller pieces you will feel good. eventually you can cross all jobs off your list. Instead of thinking about the finish line, just get up and running in the race.

The last one, Stop beating yourself up about making mistakes or your procrastination habit . The last thing you need to overcome is negativity, not only from internal but also from external sources.

Learn a little tenderness with yourself as you are growing out of your procrastination. Reward yourself when you move forward and re-commit yourself when you start to fall back. If you are patient enough with yourself you will get where you want to go.
