Outline

The communication software for MEXA-584L “MEXA-584L COMMUNICATION SOFTWARE”allows you easy operation to import measurement data obtained with MEXA-584L into a computer as a CSV format file (logging).

Conditions

This software can run on Windows XP and/or Windows VISTA.

The recommended conditions of the personal computer that this software will be installed into are as follows; Note

Make sure to use a dedicated RS-232C cable (optional) for communication between the personal computer and MEXA-584L. A commercially manufactured cable may be useless for the communication.

②Measurement data

Measurement data by component (CO/HC/CO2/LAMBDA/AFR/O2/NO/RPM/TEMP) are displayed. (O2/NO/RPM/TEMP are optional.)The update interval is 500 ms.

When a measurement value is beyond the measurement range, the value is displayed in red.

("---" is displayed for items that contain no data.)

③P .E.F value

The converted value from propane to normal hexane, which is the unique conversion factor for the measuring instruments, is displayed.④Alarm

These indicators are shown in red when an alarm occurs. They are blank under normal conditions.

z Oil temperature error (TEMP): The value input from the oil temperature sensor is not correct.

z Leak check error (LEAK): Leak has occurred.

z Hang-up error (HANG): An HC hang-up has occurred.

z Engine speed error (RPM): The value input from the engine speed sensor is not correct.

z Warm-up error (WARMING UP): The unit is warming up.

z Probe alarm (PROBE): The probe has become misaligned/removed during measurement. (The CO 2 measurement value is 5 %vol or less.)

z FILTER alarm (FILTER): Filter clogging or measurement gas flow blocking.

z CAL ERROR (CAL ERROR): Incorrect calibration or bad sensitivity.Refer to MEXA-584L instruction manual for countermeasures for these conditions.

⑤STATUS display

The current status of the MEXA-584L instrument is shown.z STANDBY: Standby mode z MEAS: Measurement mode z WARMUP: Warm-up mode

⑥ LOGGING display The current logging status is shown (ON/OFF).⑦LOGGING SAMPLING RATE value

The sampling interval (s) during logging is displayed.

⑧SAMPLING TIME value The sampling set time (min) during logging is displayed. Blank is shown for no settings.

⑨PASS TIME value

The lapsed time (min) from logging start is displayed.

⑩Operation buttons

The following operations are available with using a mouse or

corresponding function keys shown on buttons (see “ Operation buttons ” (page 5)).

Operation buttons

[MEAS (F1)]

This button makes the MEXA-584L instrument enter measurement mode.

This button is available only when the MEXA-584L instrument is in standby mode.

[STANDBY (F2)]

This button makes the MEXA-584L instrument enter standby mode.

This button is available only when the MEXA-584L instrument is in measurement mode.

[LOGGING (F3)]

This button starts logging, or saving sequential measurement data as a CSV file.

1.Click the [LOGGING (F3)] button, and the LOGGING dialog box is displayed.

Fig. 2 LOGGING

2.Specify “Save in” and “file name” and click the [Open (O)] button. Logging starts, and the basic screen returns to LOGGING ON display.

Sequential measurement data (lapsed time, value for measured component) are saved.

To cancel logging start and return to the basic screen, click the [Cancel] button on the LOGGING dialog box.

3.When the LOGGING display is ON, Click the [LOGGING (F3)] button again, and logging terminates.

The following logging information is added to the header of the saved file.MEXA-584L Sampling Data, DATE, 2007/9/18, 12:34:56RATE:, 1, sec TIME:,1, min

[SET LOGGING PARAMETER (F4)]

This button allows to set logging conditions (sampling interval and sampling time).

The logging conditions can be set only when LOGGING is OFF.

1.Click the [SET LOGGING PARAMETER (F4)] button,

and the LOGGING PARAMETER SETTING dialog box is displayed.

Fig. 3 LOGGING PARAMETER SETTING

Note

Set a larger value for Sampling time than the value of Sampling rate.

Example:

The available Sampling time range for 61 s Sampling rate: 2 min to 10000 min

The available Sampling time range for 1800 s Sampling rate: 31 min to 10000 min

2.Set logging conditions and click the [OK (F4)] button. The logging conditions are

changed and the basic screen returns.

To cancel the logging condition change and return to the basic screen, click the

[CANCEL (F5)] button.

①Sampling rate

Set the data sampling frequency by the second (1 s to 1800 s).

One sampling will be executed every set time.

②Sampling time check box

Checking the box enables the upper limit for the sampling time that has

been set.

In this case, logging automatically ends at the set time.

Unchecking the box makes the set sampling time invalid.

If there is insufficient space available at the save destination, the data

will not be saved correctly, which will prevent the data from being

loaded. Make sure there is sufficient space available at the save

destination.

③Sampling time Set the upper limit of sampling time by the minute (1 min to 10000 min).
