Tell a story.

这也是口语考试很重要的一点:keep the flow of your speech。

Describe a place you like to visit.

It reminds me of a bookstore in the downtown area. It’s not very big or fancy at all, but it has a wide range of books over diverse subjects such as literature,

culture, history, psychology and above all, motivational books. It’s always very quiet even if there are many customers, so I feel so peaceful to be there and do some reading. One day, when I had a really big fight with my boyfriend, I went to that bookstore. Suddenly, I spotted a book called A Stolen Life, which turnedthat how lucky I was so lucky. I soon reconciled with my boyfriend. Wow…that’s unbelievable, right? I never thought a bookstore would have such a great impact on my life. It always lifts my spirits when I am down, enriches my knowledge when I feel empty, and teaches me to be humble when I feel good enough about myself.

Give an example.

Describe a

famous person in your country.

Well, I think there is no doubt that people of different age range know something about Wang Leehom. Well, for example, youngsters like him so

much mostly because he is good-looking and always appears very positive;adults are crazy

about him as he is highly-educated and has a strong sense of social responsibility; and for me personally, Wong Leehom has everything I like about a person: handsome, a good sense of humor, knowledgeable, fluent English, humble etc.

Compare and contrast.

Describe a person who dresses well, and explain Who is the person How do you know this person How does he/she dress and explain why you consider him/her a good dresser. I have known many fashionable people but the one that impresses me the most is my friend Jackie. I have known many….but the one that impresses me the most is… 另外,这里的many还可以用其它的量词代替,这样的词组有:a number of, plenty of, numerous.

A Gift That You Received I want to talk about a gift I received on Christmas Day when we were exchanging gifts. One of my friends gave me a ceramic young Buddhist monk. I was a little bit surprised to have it because it’s very unlike him. And then he told me the story behind it. He said for this gist he went to a pottery shop which offers a service through which you can make something on your own and take it home at the end of the session. And he made a Buddhist monk for me. The Buddha is beige in color, and about 10 centimeters in height. I can’t say it’s very delicately molded because it’s probably my friend’s third try. I was impressed by the facial expression of the monk. I mean, his eyes are half closed, and there is just an air of calmness which is really contagious. I place this Buddha on my desk, and whenever my work’s not going well or my computer runs very slowly, I would feel a bit anxious, and lose my patience in such situations. Then I look at the ceramic monk and mysteriously I regain my composure. So I like this gift from my friend and I am really grateful for his work. ◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆◆ 5个高频口语话题 you can apply the model answer to 5 different topics: 1.

Though I have many friends, my friendship with them grew up with times and mutual understanding. But I can recall that my friendship with George grew up almost all of a sudden. George is senior to me by 2-3 years and I did not meet him until I was in the 4th semester in my University. One of my term final exam's schedules was changed and I did not know that. According to my previous exam schedule I reached my University and was totally confused what to do when I heard that the exam was already over. I went to our Departmental head's office and he could not find a way around of it. He blamed me that I should have been more careful about the changes. I explained him that I was sick and did not come to university for 3-4 days and that made me unaware of the exam schedule changes. Then I found that someone who was sitting next to me in the departmental head's office asked me to meet the course teacher and explain the situation. He then escorted me to our course teacher's room and talked to the teacher. It seemed to me that George was already personally known to our teacher and they had an intimate relationship. Hearing everything the teacher agreed to arrange an exam for me next day in his office room. My friendship with George grew up after that event and albeit our age differences we found that we had many common interests and habits. We started spending time and I visited his home many times. We worked in a retail shop for about 6 months and that helped us become more intimate.

Describe a time a child made you laugh 让你笑的小孩.doc

Describe a time a child made you laugh (Describe something a child did that made you laugh 描述一个小孩子做的使你开怀大笑的事情)。 Describe a time a child made you laugh You should say: When it was Where you were Who the child was What the child did And explain why you laughed I would like to talk about a time I?saw a funny little girl while I was shopping at a bookstore in Chaoyang District, Beijing. I can’t remember the exact date when I visit there, but I am sure that it’s after the last Spring Festival, probably in the second week or the fourth week of

Describe an interesting place to visit Ok, I'd like to tell you about the temple of the Six Banyan Trees. It's located in the city center of Guangzhou and its not far away from Zhongshan 6 Road, near the People's Hospital. It's a good place to go to and climb to see the Flower Pagoda, which has eight sides to it. You can also go there to pray if you are a Buddhist. It is an active temple and is also the head of the Guangzhou Buddhist Association. You can also do a bit of shopping there if you like. Besides the souvenirs you can buy there, it also has a very lively fruit and meat market nearby, so if you just want to shop instead you can. The main feature of this place is the pagoda because it's the tallest in the city. From the outside it looks like it has only nine stories, but actually it has 17 inside. It's quite old, and was built some time in the 10th century. The temple itself is even older than that-I think it goes back to some time

多米诺骨牌效应:=Something you learned from math=Something you learned from your family=A piece of advice=A change you had=An important stage in your life=A text message you got=A letter you got=An E-mail you got=A way of communication=An important decision you made=A person who helped you=A kind thing someone did to you=A family member you love talking to=A good parent=An elderly family member=A neighbor=A good friend=A teacher=A science course you took=A subject you love/d at school=Your personality=First day of college=Your experience of getting money as a gift=Your experience of getting congratulations=A person you helped=A thing your friend did made you admire.

A.PEOPLE & ANIMAL An elder family member = An interesting elder person = A person who took care of you when you were young A friend = A person you want to talk to = A person you want to spend time with = A person who helped you = A neighbor = A teenager = An elder family member = An important conversation you had = A letter you got = A piece of advice = A positive change in your life = An important stage in your life A person you know who speaks a different language = A teacher = An unforgettable course or lecture = An unforgettable experience A child = A public service advertisement = A story you watched on TV = A film you love = A magazine = A newspaper = A TV programme = A website = A book you read before = A childhood song you love = A fairytale character = A fairytale you love = A fairytale you were told in your childhood A famous person = A successful person = A leader = An idol = A person you want to become one day = A historical figure = A person who is good at his/ her job = A speech or a lecture you love = An unforgettable course you had = An organization / company you love = A business you want to run

Skill

Skill Question Describe a skill you wish you had. Sample answer If I ever get the chance to learn a new skill, I would like to learn karate which is a form of martial art. I had a great fascination and attraction to learn it but never had the chance actually to learn it. This is important for keeping a sound body and to remain fit. It is also a great weapon of self defense in time of adversity and sudden attack by rouge people. The greatest benefit this karate offers is a discipline and self control. Besides the physical exercise, patience and hard work karate requires a great deal of mental power, calmness and a type of discipline which are necessary for a modest life.

The subject that I'd like to describe is Physics that was taught in our school. We had this subject in each year of our high school and each year a new teacher used to taught us the subject. Even we had to read physics in college as Science was my major. I remember Mr. Alex, Burter, John, David and Mrs. Jeniffer took Physics in different years. We were lucky to have good Physics teachers who could make the subject interesting and enjoyable. Our teachers used to tell us stories first and then would explain the theory, experiment or math of the text books. They would then relate the story with the study. Later they would explain us the real examples and facts. Sometimes they used to take us to the Physics labs and explain how something works. I have learned numerous things of physics from simple definition of mass to the complex explanation of Einstein's Theory of Relativity. My foundation of physics grew up and expanded with the help of those teachers. The subject itself is utterly interesting if one can have passion for it. It is one such subject that one would start loving it if s/he starts understanding the underlying concepts of it. Physics is all around us and the lesson I learned from my School had helped me greatly throughout my higher academic years. Tips for answering this cue card topic: You should pick a real academic subject like Math, English, Physics, Chemistry, Literature, and Biology to answer this cue card. Then quickly take some notes including the following: 1. In which class was it taught? 2. Do not pick a subject taught in your college or university level as the cue card is asking you to talk about a subject taught in your school. 3. Try to remember a teacher's name. You can mention multiple teachers' name as the same subject in school is taught by different teachers in different classes. 4. Give a short detail what the subject. For example: The Geography would discuss about the Earth, the other planet in the solar system, atmosphere, and climate changes etc. and you should mention those. 5. Next describe how the teacher taught the subject and what things you learned from the class. 6. Mention some interesting things you learned from the class and how the teacher made things easier to understand for you. 7. Describe how interested you were about the subject and the class. 8. Relate how this subject has later helped you/ influenced you in your education and learning process. 9. Finally give a conclusion by mentioning how beneficial the subject for students. If you pick Math try to focus on the following issues: 1. The teacher was very good explaining the intricacies of the subject. 2. You learned many theories and formulas of math. 3. This teacher explained how math would be helpful for the rest of the life and academic years.

Describe a memorable story told by someone You should say: Who told you the story? When you heard the story What the story was about Why you found it memorable The story that i remember quite clearly is called the Race Between the Hare and the Tortoise. It was told by my father when i was about 6 years old. The story goes like this: an arrogant here thought the was the fastest animal in the forest. Quite interestingly, a tortoise wanted to challenge him. The hare laughed very hard because it sounded very ridiculous to him. The tortoise wanted to have a race with him. The race attracted all the animals in the forest. A staring line was made and off the hare and tortoise went. The hare was very fast, so he was far ahead, then he took a rest. The tortoise, however, kept moving forward slowly but surly. By the time the tortoise came up, his opponent was sleeping. The hare didn’t wake up until it was too late. The winner was the tortoise. It’s a quite simple but meaningful story. It teaches us that, as long as we stick to our goals, we will reach it, no matter what.

We often have guests, visitors and relatives in our home and for special occasions like a birthday party several invited guests come to our home. One such occasion and special guest I remember came to our home 2-3 years back. He was a famous writer and came to our home on occasion of my older sister’s marriage ceremony. He was known to the father of the bridegroom’s senior brother and a well-known figure in our city. His name is Mr. Jonathon Durik (…say a name you like…) and when he arrived all of us recognized him. The marriage ceremony was a big program and almost 200 people attended the ceremony. We had to prepare for the program for about a week before the due date. This ceremony was arranged in our own house and we had been tremendously busy for the occasion. A marriage ceremony is a big arrangement and my parents were very busy as well as sad that my sister would be leaving our house after her marriage. This was a big event and there were lots of things to be done. I had been so busy and had to greet and serve so many guests that I had hard time concentrating. The bridegroom and their relatives arrived and we got even busier. They introduced the guests to us and one of them was Mr. Durik. I greeted him and helped him sitting in a comfortable couch. I got busy with other stuffs and came to the guests time to time to look after if he needed anything. I asked what type of foods he would prefer to eat and took him to the dinning place. I had a short conversation with him

Describe a park/garden you visited and liked that impressed you. Describe a place full of colour. Describe a place near water. Describe a place that makes you relax. Describe an educational trip when you were at school. Describe a change that will improve your local area. 第二题可说明park中有“a wide range of flowers like tulip, violet, daffodi l and magnolia that make it colorful”。 第五题能够讲成an field trip to a botanical garden organized by my biology teacher。第六题可介绍a park that will be built in my local area, which can provide residents with a place to socialize and relax(还可增加理由improveenvironment/attract tourists)。 1.2.
