Recent years have seen the rapid expansion (扩张) of China's wine market. China imported up to 746 million liters of the libation (饮酒) in 2020, with year-on-year growth of 17 percent, making China the fastest growing and fifth largest market worldwide, according to Xi Kang, joint vice-chairman of the China Wine Associations Alliance.

A growing wine market has led to a rising demand for professional wine tasters, which is listed as one of the 140 vocations that requires a national qualification.

Kong Weibao, professor of Northwest Normal University, set up an elective course called Vintage Science and Wine Culture in 2020, aiming at improving students' understanding of wine. Few students chose Kong's class in the beginning, but now it is hard to find a spare seat in his classroom. Kong said that more than 2,000 students had taken his course, with some of them having waited two years to do so.

While most students take the course out of an interest in wine, there are also students who want to get a qualification certificate as a wine taster

in the future. Therefore, more and more private educational institutions in China have found business opportunities in the wine industry. They are offering various wine tasting training courses with prices varying between $120 and $1,600.

Zeng Jing, an employee at wine education service Tasting Annex, said the wine industry was in a growth period, and wine tasting was in great need as wine education, production, marketing, hotels and other fields showed strong demand.

Xi Kang said that China's young generations pursued a healthy and high-quality lifestyle and had "a stronger learning ability and more advanced consumption concept," meaning demand for wine and wine tasters would continue to grow in the future.

21. How does the author show the rapid expansion of China’s wine market?

A. By presenting data.

B. By raising questions.

C. By giving a definition.

D. By explaining reasons.

22. Which of the following statements is NOT TRUE?

A. Being a professional wine taster requires a national qualification.

B. Wine tasting training courses in China are not at the same price.

C. All students don’t take wine tasting training courses out of interest.

D. Kong's course was first intended for those who want to be a wine taster.

23. What would be the best title for the passage?

A. Wine market expands rapidly in China

B. Growing wine market looks for people with taste

C. Students grow interested in wine tasting training courses

D. More business opportunities created by the wine industry

Tony has a fixed mindset, the belief that your intelligence is “fixed,”

or permanent. You’re either smart or stupid. Andy has a growth mindset, the belief that your intelligence can grow. You can improve your skills and develop new ones. Which is right? It’s Andy.

Believe it or not, research shows that you really can get smarter by working hard, practicing, and challenging yourself. That’s because yo ur mindset can affect your performance at school, in sports and the arts, and even how you act and feel.

After doing some research, Dr. Carol Dweck and her team has discovered that middle school students with a growth mindset do better in math; those with a fixed mindset do worse. Why?

Kids with a fixed mindset are concerned with grades and how smart they look compared to others. They are afraid of challenges and making mistakes because they think if they don’t do well, they might look dumb. So they tend to give up on difficult problems and their grades suffer.

Kids with a growth mindset, however, are concerned with learning, not grades. They like challenges and work hard on difficult problems, because they want to stretch and improve their abilities. They learn from mistakes by trying different problem-solving strategies or asking for help.

But Dweck’s team discovered something even more important than that. They discovered that—with some work—kids can choose to have a growth mindset and do better in school. Everyone has some of each type of mindset: they’re like voices in your head. When you hear your fixed mindset voice telling you that you’ll look stupid if you ask for help, or that learning a new skill is hard, talk back to it! Asking for help isn’t stupi d—it’s smart. And learning a new skill is hard—but won’t it be worth it?

24. By mentioning Tony and Andy in the beginning, the author intends to ______________.

A. draw readers’ attention to the topic of the article

B. show that different people have different mindsets

C. compare the differences between the two mindsets

D. encourage readers to be a person with a growth mindset

25. The underlined word “dumb” in paragraph 4 probably means _________.

A. inactive

B. lazy

C. stupid

D. awkward

26. Which of the following statements would Dr. Carol Dweck agree?

A. The-fixed mindset kids care more about learning than grades.

B. The growth-mindset kids are unwilling to take up the challenge.

C. The-fixed mindset kids will turn to others for help when necessary.

D. The growth-mindset kids will try to solve a problem in different ways.

27. The main purpose of writing the last paragraph is to tell us ________________.

A. asking for help is a good learning strategy

B. kids with a growth mindset can do better at school

C. we can change a fixed mindset into a growth one with effort

D. all the people have both a fixed mindset and a growth mindset

Government officials and businessmen from 26 countries have just completed a visit to Xiaogang Village in east China's Anhui Province. As MPA and doctoral students in the Institute of South-South Cooperation and Development of Peking University, they made the trip to Xiaogang, known as cradle of China's rural reform, for a deeper understanding of China's economic reform.

One of the 41 students, Abdoulaye Ndiaye from Senegal said they had learned the story about Xiaogang from a lecture in Beijing before the trip, and were most impressed by the detail that 18 villagers in Xiaogang agreed

on a secret agreement to break the egalitarian (平等主义) agricultural system by signing, in this case leaving thumbprints (拇指指纹), a land contract in 1978. “The story of Xiaogang village could set a good example for development in other South-South countries,” said Dilamo Otore Ferenje, a trade official from Ethiopia.

During the visit on Tuesday, they actually shook hands with one of the pioneering villagers, Yan Junchang, who is now 77 years old.

Visiting an exhibition hall on the village history and talking with villagers, the students learned how the contract enabled farmers to hand in a certain percentage of their produce to government, and keep the rest to themselves.

Looking at modern farms, rural renewable energy facilities and a glass factory, the students gained an understanding of how the Chinese village had developed over 40 years.

The village has undergone great changes. Road traffic is now controlled by traffic lights. Sanitary workers always keep the streets clean. A yellow school bus takes kids to school. Old run-down houses are protected as a reminder of its past.

Fu Jun, academic dean of the institute, said the field trip offered students an opportunity to gain a better understanding of China's development experience and different stages of reform and opening-up.

28. What do we know about the students from the passage?

A. The majority of them are businessmen.

B. They are interested in China's economic reform.

C. There are altogether 26 students from foreign countries.

D. They knew nothing about Xiaogang village before the trip.

29. During the visit, students did the following things EXCEPT _____________.

A. Meeting the then 18 pioneering villagers in the flesh

B. Being shown around some rural renewable energy facilities

C. Paying a visit to an exhibition to learn the history of the village

D. Being introduced to the rapid development of Xiaogang village

30. What did Fu Jun think of the trip according to the last paragraph?

A. Encouraging.

B. Memorable.

C. Thrilling.

D. Educational.

第二节:(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分 10分)

根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。并将答案写在答题纸的相应位置上,选项中有两项为多余选项。

Ambitious students work hard to excel and stay on the top by putting in countless hours of studies, which include frequent late nights, endless cramming and revision sessions. 31 Not very. Studies show that a student who studies for an hour and takes a ten-minute break at the end of the session remembers more of what is learned throughout the session, than a student who continues studying without taking a break. 32 Here is

a list of some.

●Relaxes the Mind

_ 33 Studying for long hours at a stretch creates an information overload, and brings about restlessness and tiredness. A short tea break at the end of a 45-minute study session refreshes your senses, energizes you, and gets you back in the right frame of mind, ready to take on the next task in the schedule.

●Improves Concentration Levels

The purpose of a study session is to study as much as possible and remember most of what has been learned in it. 34 It is highly likely that long hours of studying can become monotonous (单调的) and cause you to believe

that you are ‘learning’, when you are only just ‘reading’. A short break eases out your stressed mind, brings you back on track, and allows you to start studying with new-found focus levels.

●Improves Information Retention (保留)

Learning continuously reduces the ability to remember information. 35 According to The Primary and Recency Effects, memory improves just before and immediately after you take a break. Therefore, study sessions of a shorter time span prove more beneficial.

A. What urged them to do so?

B. How productive is this practice?

C. The best solution is to take a short break every 30 to 60 minutes.

D. Many people want to find out why taking breaks while studying is essential.

E. To be able to achieve this, it is absolutely necessary to continuously stay focused.

F. Taking breaks while studying contributes to better learning in a number

of ways.

G. A clear head and refreshed mind can speed up and enhance the process

of learning.

I will be left alone to die. So, I will not come with you."
