After 20 years of debate, China has finally decided to allow the Walt Disney Company to build a theme park in Shanghai. It will be the sixth Disney park in the world.There are already parks in California, US; Florida, US; Paris, France; Tokyo, Japan; and Hong Kong, China.

The Disney park in Shanghai will cost 25billion yuan. It is expected to open in 2014. Disney officials are very excited. “China is one of the most exciting and important countries in the world,” said Disney CEO Robert.

Supporters of Shanghai Disney have two answers. The Shanghai park will be much bigger than the Hong Kong park, offering better value for the price. It will also be easier for people on the Chinese mainland to visit the Shanghai park.

Tens of thousands of jobs will be created in order to build the park and make it fun. But many people think the government should spend money on Chinese development and culture rather than on bringing American culture to China.

Paris Disneyland faced similar problems. French and other Europeans didn’t like the idea of American culture invading(侵入) their way of life. Why not celebrate local culture instead?
