The feeling of sorrow（悲伤）seemed to rise to the surface as Sophie tried to relax her body and mind．Normally she would have gone out for a walk but this time there was nowhere to go, for this meeting was very important as her future rested upon it．She tried to focus on what the bank manager’s saying but gradually it disappeared into the distance and then she heard no more．

She breathed in the cold outside air and went to her car．Normally John would have been by her side when they went for any meeting, but things had changed since last year．As she drove home, the memories came back to her and despite trying to block them out, each moment and each event seemed to replay in her mind like a movie．

She remembered how the three of them had all been sitting together watching a movie when John had complained of pains in his chest．Sophie remembered her own screams and Rach el’s cries and she recalled how she had managed to call the ambulance（救护车）．The scene at the hospital and then the reality that he had gone and left them for ever came back today as sharp and clear as it had been on that day．

Scientists are increasingly warning that sitting for long periods —even if you also exercise regularly — could be bad for your health．And it doesn’t matter where the sitting takes place — at the office, at school, in the car or before a computer or TV —just the total number of hours it occurs．Several studies suggest people who spend most of their days sitting are more likely to be fat, have a heart attack or even die．

“After four hours of sitting, the body starts to send harmful signals,” said Ekblom-Bak of the Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences．She explained that genes regulating（调节）the amount of glucose（葡萄糖）and fat in the body start to shut down．

Even for people who exercise, spending long periods of time sitting at a desk is still harmful．Tim Armstrong, a physical activity expert at the World Health Organization, said people who exercise every day — but still spend a lot of time sitting — might get more benefit if that exercise were spread across the day, rather than in a single bout（回）．

Still, in a study published in 2009 that tracked more than 17, 000 Canadians for about a dozen years, researchers found people who sat more had a higher death risk, independently of whether or not they exercised．

Experts said more research is needed to figure out just how much sitting is dangerous, and what might be possible to offset those effects．

“People should keep exercising because that has a lot of benefits,” Ekblom-Bak said. “But when they’re in the office, they should try to interrupt sitting as often as possible,” she said．

Recently I did a survey about teenagers’ consuming trend in their daily life in my class．The results are as follows:

35% of them say that they spend almost all of their money in going to the Net bar, playing games or chatting on the Internet for a long time, especially during the holidays．Another 30% find interest in nothing but collecting as many pictures of their idols’as possible, never bothering about how much money they will have to spend．Some others prefer to spend their money buying cell-phones, some buy MP3 to listen to music, and still some buy fashionable clothes, each taking up about 10%. To my great disappointment, of all those surveyed only 5% admit that they spend their money on books.

Personally, this is really worrying．So more attention should be paid to this phenomenon and teachers, parents and society are to work together to guide teenagers to consume properly．
