Elon Musk has a mission, and any time the South African-born entrepreneur sets out to do something, he usually ends up achieving his goal. Musk started out as a tech wiz before he had even hit his teens, designing a video game at the tender age of 12 years old.

However, Musk sees this success as just the beginning. He is on the record as saying he will send humans to Mars within the next 20 years. The first stage will be to land on the Red Planet with a modified Dragon, which would include a rover that will engage in a fact-finding mission. The rover would search for signs of life - past and present - and take samples from the surface of Mars in an attempt to better ascertain the habitability of the planet. This would lay the ground for future manned missions. Long-term, Musk believes that humans will be able to colonize Mars and he is already working on plans to make this dream a reality. Musk is known for keeping the press and public guessing as to what his next move might be and has been tight-lipped about his exact scheme for getting a population of 80,000 people onto the surface of Mars. However, he has dropped hints that a huge reusable rocket would be used and that the pioneering colonists would bring a lot of vital equipment with them. This would include the technology to produce fertilizer for food and oxygen from the carbon dioxide that comprises over 95 percent of the atmosphere on Mars.

43.Which word best describes Elon Musk prior to becoming an entrepreneur?

Directions: Read the following excerpt from James Cameron: Into the Abyss and answer the questions that follow.

The submarine,s tools included a variety of gauges to measure temperature, pressure and salinity - the amount of salt in the waters - as well a device for collecting sediment samples. The Deepsea Challenger was also equipped with a “slurp gun” for sucking up small marine animals. Unfortunately, this contraption malfunctioned, meaning that Cameron was not able to bring any of the creatures he observed back to the surface. However, the video he shot has revealed at least two previously unrecorded species that have generated excitement among marine biologists. One was a kind of sea cucumber that appears to exist in large numbers on the ocean floor, and the other was a strange, squidlike worm. Also captured on camera were giant amoebas - single cell organisms, which remain poorly understood by science. Overall, what

has excited biologists is the apparent abundance and diversity that exists at the bottom of the ocean. It is hoped that future exploration and discoveries will give us a better understanding of the conditions in which life can survive or even thrive.

47.What would best describe the main idea of the paragraph?
