译文对比评析从哪些方面

第一作品主题。我们首先要明白这部作品或者文章的主题是什么。这就需要我们认真读下序言和简介,这是理解作品关键的地方。无论作品有多长,总有一个中心围绕着,我们要找出来。有时候,一部作品的主题非要看完才会明白。

第二作品人物。一部文学作品,一般会安排好几个主要人物。假如这部作品非常长,有好几部,那么人物就会很多,这与作者的设计有一定的关系。我们知道托马斯·哈代一生共写过十四部长篇小说,但是他的作品人物安排有一个特点就是:两位男主人公和一位女主人公,或者是两位女主人公和一位男主人公,这或与与他自己的体验有一定的关系。因此,我们了解作品的主要人物还是很重要的。

第三作品结构。一部好的文学作品,其中的结构安排会是比较细心的。很多鸿篇巨著,作者一般在结构上不会疏忽。这方面可以以巴尔扎克、雨果、司汤达为代表。说到结构我们会想到《一千零一夜》那种比较独特的结构,就是故事套故事的结构,这种结构后来还被很多文学作者所采用了。我们了解和熟悉作品结构,对于欣赏文学作品还是有着一定的意义。

第四作品风格。一部文学作品,一定有着比较独特的艺术风格,如浪漫主义、现实主义,古典主义,还是意识流。每部文学作品都有着不一样的艺术风格,每个时代的作者,一定会书写具有那个时代特征的作品。如果我们阅读十八世纪

的作品,或许会想到与启蒙运动相关的内容。此外,我们对作品的艺术风格有着一定的了解和领会,对欣赏文艺作品有一定的作用。

第五作品思想。当我们阅读一部文学作品的时候,总会被作者独特的思维和见解所吸引住,也许这就是其中的魅力所在。一部优秀的作品,其中的思想性一定与艺术性相匹配的。作者的人生态度积极或者消极都与那个时代的环境有着密切的关系。我们了解作品思想,实际上能够比较深入的理解那个时代的历史背景,这是分析一部文学作品不可缺少的。

对于略谈外国文学翻译评论 外国文学翻译和外国文学翻译评论有着密切的关系,没有翻译,何来评论?翻译是评论的依据。没有评论,翻译便难于健康地发展,可能会长期存在”泥沙俱下,鱼龙混杂”的不良局面,因此,评论对外国文学翻译起着一种净化和进步的功能。我国老一辈作家、翻译家,尤其是作家兼翻译家,不仅给我们留下宝贵的文学遗产,而已在外国文学翻译评论方面,也为我们树立了永远值得学习的光辉榜样。首先让我们来看一着郑振铎是怎样实事求是客观公允地评论中国第一个外国文学翻译大师林纾(琴南)的功过: 我们看了这个统计(指林纾所译外国文学作品的统计),一方面自然是非常的感谢林琴南凭外,由于他先容了这很多重要的世界名着给我们,但一方面却不免可惜他的劳力之大半回于虚耗,由于在他所译的一百五十六种作品中,仅有这六七十种是着名的(其中尚杂有哈葛德及科南道尔二人的第二等的小说二十匕种,所以在一百五十六种中,重要的作品尚占不到三分之一),其他的书却都是第二、三流的作品,可以不必译的,这大概不能十分回咎于林先生,由于他是个懂得任何外国文字的,选择原本之权全操了和他合作的口译者之身上。还有一件事,也是林先生为他的口译者所误的:小说和戏剧,性质本大不同,但林先生却把很多极好的剧本、译成了小说--添进了很多叙事,删减了很多对话,简直变成和原本完全不同的一部书了。如莎士比亚的剧本《亨利第四》、《雷差得纪》、《亨利第六》、《凯撒遗事》以及易卜生的《群鬼》(梅孽)都是被他译得变成了另外一部书了--原文的美和风格及重要的对话完全消灭不见,这简直是在步武却尔斯·兰在做莎士乐府本事,又何必写上了”原着者莎士比亚”及”原着者易卜生”呢? 林先生的翻译,还有一点不见得好,便是任意删节原文。如法国雨果的《九三年》,林先生译之为《双雄义死录》,拿原文来一对不知减少了多少。我们很惊异,为什么原文是很厚的一本,译成了中文却变了一本薄薄的了。然而无论如何,我们统计林先生的翻译,其可以称得较完善者已有四十余种。在中国,恐怕译了四十余种名着

W e expect to learn it as we learned geometry or how to ride a bicycle-systematically, and with clear ultimate success. Many people subsequently give up when they discover just what a misconception this is. They have in fact embarked on an activity that could last the rest of their lives. The experience makes them realize that they are not only going to have to work very hard indeed if they want to succeed, but also that they are -in many cases-barely masters of the language they call their own “mother tongue”. Studying any language is, in fact, an endless voyage. Each of the thousands of language currently used in the world is a complex affair. Many language do have a standard form-particularly on paper -and this is what we learn, but they probably also have a variety of regional dialects and social styles, and many are the products of the historical mingling of other language. The English language is just such a hybrid. It began its career just under two thousand years ago as a form of ancient German, collided with a special kind of old French, was subjected to several waves of Latin and a flood of Greek, and since then has acquired bits and a flood of Greek, and since then has acquired bits and pieces of every other language that its users have ever been in contact with. A second common misconception about language is that words have fixed and clear meanings. This is-f ortunately or unfortunately-far from true. 对《金陵十三钗》的字幕评价 近日,我们小组成员一起观看了电影《金陵十三钗》。《金陵十三钗》是2011年张艺谋执导的战争史诗电影,根据严歌苓同名小说改编。故事以抗日战争时期的南京大屠杀为背景,讲述了1937年被日军侵占的中国首都南京,在一个教堂里互不相识的人们之间发生的感人故事。一个为救人而冒充神父的美国人、一群躲在教堂里的女学生、14个逃避战火的风尘女子以及殊死抵抗的军人和伤兵,他们在危难的时刻共同面对南京大屠杀,放下个人的生与死,共同维护民族的生存。 影片筹备4年,瞄准全球市场,首度邀请好莱坞战争特效团队和一线影星克里斯蒂安·贝尔加盟,并启用数十位新人出演。该片于2011年12月15日在中国上映,获得国内普遍好评,口碑令其票房不断攀升,在国内累计取得6.1亿人民币的票房。该片是2011年华语电影票房冠军。 接下来,我们将对这部电影字幕主要字幕翻译的赞赏与批评两个部分进行阐述。 一、赞赏部分 1、书娟的父亲来教堂接女儿离开,还责备女儿没有听自己的劝告早点离开,说她:“你倒好,自作主张。”字幕译成: “You were so stubborn.”联系之前其他女学生责备书娟的情景,我们知道书娟之所以违背父亲是希望能带大家一起离开。自作主张在字典中有更地道的翻译,如presumptuous,self-assertive等等,但译者在影片中结合上下文语境选用“stubborn”一词,更表现出了书娟对为了生存而不得不替日本人办事的父亲的怨恨,成功塑造了爱国学生这一形象。 2、当男孩浦生生命垂危之际,神志不清地喊着:“姐……姐……打雷了……雨……雨……”玉墨坐在床边难过地回答他说:“哪有雨啊?是阎王爷在哭你呢。”译者将对话翻译成了: “What rain? It’s death weeping for you.”译者综合考虑了电影中将要离去、脸色苍白的浦生,泣不成声的玉墨及其他同伴们,还有电影外同样悲伤焦虑的观众们的心态,用“death”一词简介明了地刻画了这一场景,从而使观众易于理解影片的整体含义。 3、南京死了这么多人,阎王都来不及收。 So many people died, even the Hell is packed. 阎王的英译为“Yama”或“the king of the Hell”,若译为:Yama is busy collecting the death, 忠实了原文,但是起不到劝说女学生不要轻生的目的。原文字幕将“阎王”直接译为“Hell”,简洁明了,而且Hell 本就令人生畏,较好传达了劝说的语气。 4、拿我们的热脸贴人家冷屁股 Yet, we're supposed to kiss their asses, 在这里,“热脸贴了冷屁股”是中国特色的表达法,用了比喻手法很生动幽默地表达了“单方面的热情却遭到了别人的无视”的意思,如果直译的话,外国观众会觉得不知所云,也没有传达出此短语传递出的文化信息。译文巧妙地套用了英语中的一个俗语“kiss sb’s ass”(表示“拍某人马屁”、“有意去逢迎别人”),与原文的“热脸贴了冷屁股”有异曲同工之妙。译文顺利地完成了两种语言的转换,没有拘泥于原文字面上的意思,而是深刻把握了原文暗藏的文化内涵,用西方观众可以理解的表达法很好地传达了说话者要表达的深刻含义。
